    4 days + 228 deer = 0 bucks!

Glass the hard stuff that nobody wants to work for.
  2. You passed on some good bucks I thought some would be 90 or close. Can't shoot the monsters if you kill the good ones.... Congrats I liked the video

    Shorts on the 3rd Hunt!

It is what it is. I was hoping for the weather we got 2 years ago, colder than heck for the desert water froze in my trailer and the deer were in the sun trying to warm up, saw the biggest buck I have ever seen on that hunt. Looks like glassing the shady pockets and water is going to be the ticket this year. I better hit the sack leaving at 330am. Good luck to all that will be glassing this weekend...

    Accurate Magpro

I don't know for sure but have heard they are real hard on dies and sticky? I would recommend Norma cases and be done with it. I was having a real hard time with Winchester brass. Bought Norma and all the problems I was having went away. I am also loading .270WSM.

    Accurate Magpro

I tried mag pro in my .270wsm great velocity but couldn't find accuracy. Tried h4831sc and haven't looked back.
  7. I have a Remington 700 long action that is currently a 30-06 i was wanting to rebarrel, I was thinking of a 6.5x284 in a custom build. I have heard a lot of good things of this caliber. Low recoil, easy reloading, very accurate? I am wanting some input for a new coues gun as this is all it would be used for as for antelope when I can draw a tag. Need some input as well. Thanks Bryan

    Unusual elk sighting

I have seen elk headed to Roosevelt lake just past the rest area on 188 not far from where you saw them. I saw a cow standing in the road one night couldn't believe it. Prickly pear cactus and all.

    23 Mule deer hunts

Hunted this hunt a few yeas ago it was hard to even find a doe. Saw coues in places that I didn't think was possible that they would live there. Cool to hear about some monsters taken, I love that area, lots of places that have little to no hunting presume. Good luck

    20B last day success!

Don't know the area so I can't help. But if I were you I would focus on the areas that you at least see deer, they live there for a reason. The bucks will most likely be somewhere around this area. Might check the nastiest country around where you are seeing does. The bucks could all be together in batchlor herds.

    Need some help?

This is a strange thing to ask but why not. Years ago around 1991 or 1992 grandpa knew a guy his Name was Gordon he took us on a deer hunt in unit 27 and we had a great hunt. We also had a few squirl hunts but as time went by and the older i got we lost contact, My grandpa has passed since then and I have not been able to find this friend of ours. I know that he was a railroad worker, not sure the railroad. But he liked to bass fish also. Gordon has a wife named Susan they lived in Tucson at the time If I kwew or remembered their last name it would be a lot easier. Kind of a long shot but if this sounds familiar I would sure like to meet up again. That guy had a lot to do with the drive I have for hunting. I would like to see this old friend again.

    6.5x284 questions

Would a rifle chambered in 30-06 be a cheaper conversion. I think the bolt face is the same. Would this be just a screw the barrel in type conversion from a 30-06

    Field butchering pack out?

Thanks guys. Sounds like the havalon knife is a keeper. I have never butchered anything before. I don't want ruin anything if I can help it. Seems like the hard part is keeping the meat clean. Other than than is just cutting meat from bone. That simple.

    elk calling

Lots of hunters call way to much. The elk will tell you that when you call and you find the elk are now moving away from you, but just keep calling anyway. You'll eventually get a satellite bull to come check you out.

    7mm Rem mag reloads

For the IMR powder what are the velocity spreads due to being temp sensitive? I have read a lot about different powders being temp sensitive but have never seen or read to what extent, some say it's not enough to matter others say quite a bit.

    7mm Rem mag reloads

Thank you for that info. I will try that load. I use the H powder in my 270wsm with good results and going to try that powder in a 7mm. Starting from square one though so thanks again.

    7mm Rem mag reloads

So does that mean you tried H4831sc and it wasn't any good? Or you use IMR4350 instead?
