salt and feed no more in 2009
Traveler replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
1- I would like the department to look at the # of Swarovski binoculars owned by hunters in AZ. We should ban all foreign made optics as this has been a well documented method that has dramatically increased over the last ten years. Also tripods, monopods, butt pads or any other device to encourage glassing should also be banned. This encourages lazy obese hunters to harvest superior deer to those hunters using more traditional "sportsman like" methods. 2- There was a 1200 member rifle hunter army in 22 this October. This huge amount of hunter pressure has not been seen in any recent time or ever, yet there is no mandatory reporting to see the impact of such a dramatic change in hunter numbers. Where is the science in that? There is no science in that, there is a revenue model though!!! -
New to Mesa, New to Coues Deer
Traveler replied to Mr. Jonathan's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Welcome to AZ Lots of spots for Coues in the 2X units to the north, and even more in 3X units to the south. The closer to town the more folks you will share the spots with. Sent you a PM Dan -
I am buying a 22.250. My son really enjoys shooting my .17HMR and is a little recoil sensitive. So I am looking to get one of the Howa / Weatherby Vanguard rifles that I can put a youth stock on. I would like something with up to at least 14x magnification. I am looking to spend up to 5 or $600 for the scope if I need to. Also if someone knows a good dealer in the greater PHX area I would prefer to buy it there instead of one of the big box stores Thanks Dan

Way to go! Very cool. I see them fairly regularly driving out from one of my coues stand. I need to try calling up there.

My son ran in to two rattlers on his first Quail hunt opener this year. Momma was not too happy. Definitely snakey right now -

I have a 3205G with a 3265G Pistol grip head. It is in very good shape, still have box. It has the extension piece so even tall guys can glass standing up. I am in Mesa. Let me know if you are interested. Dan

Very cool. I just need time to play with. I love my GPS, map software and google earth. It saves a lot of time, gas and has increased my success. Thanks for sharing Dan -
I feel that shooting seedless watermelons is unethical. Any real hunter would use traditional watermelons with seeds. I can't believe what some people will do Thanks for sharing. Cool pics. I like the trend for the cut on contact. Dan

Try some Meindl or Han Wag and you will leave your Danners behind. I went through through 4 pair of Danners and they were good boots. But the Europeans kick our butt on serious mountain boots. Do searches on Bowsite or other western hunting sites and you will a lot of converts. Good luck. Dan

Yes this disrimination- We need the ACLU to bail us out of unfair practices by the AGFD!!!! On a positive note I will be one of the 25 folks out there this December!

I have been looking and reading a lot about these as well. The most consistent themes I have heard are: 1-The 2 blade is a better design than the 3 blade. 2-You should remove most of the foam from your quiver and only leave enough to secure the tip or you may release the O ring ( or use one of the quivers designed for openers. ) 3- They leave a big blood trail and 2" of cutting has some advantages (2blade) This is my armchair quarterback opinion. I want to carry a few openers for antelope this year. But I have not decided which opener yet. Good Luck
