L.E. utah elk tag - Manti central mountains
azpredator@work replied to azpredator@work's topic in Elk Hunting
Got up extra early this morning hoping to hear a bugle. Made the 1.4 mile hike to a nice ridge that overlooks 3 canyons. Haven't heard anything yet and the wind is starting to pick up. Here are some pics I shot yesterday. -

L.E. utah elk tag - Manti central mountains

Been covering quite a bit of ground looking for sign. Went out at midnight last night when the wind finally died Dow hoping to hear a bugle or 2. No luck... Today, I found my first sign elk have been in the area. An old rub, followed by week old crap and tracks from the rain a few days ago. As I was moving with the tracks I topped a ridge and heard a bunch of dogs. A few mins later 2 trucks drive by 150 yards from me. Another f-ing road. Ugh!! That road isn't on the map so I took it to see if it would take me to the top. An hr later the trucks come back. They treed a bear, but wasn't big enough to shoot. At this point, I'm 2.8 miles from my quad and start heading back. I'm going to find a vantage point tonight to glass from. My legs are already exhausted. -

L.E. utah elk tag - Manti central mountains

I came up the first weekend on Aug 15th. Too many people. Beautiful country, way too many roads and just crazy how many hunters. A little early to elk hunt alone on foot. Temps were in the 90's. I never pulled my bow out of the case. It was a discouraging weekend. I'm back today. Happy my trailer was not messed with. I have cell coverage so I'll post as much as I can. Its hot as heck and still passed a lot of camps getting here. Most just look like abandoned trailers waiting for their owners to return. I'm camped half way up a mountain which will gain me access into a mountain range that should provide 3-4 days of hunting. Its all walk-in type country for a couple miles so I should be alone. I found 3 other similar spots which all have dark timber with streams nearby. -
-1 I've experienced opposite results from the cheaper ones. My doublebulls are over 10 years old with hundreds of days in the sun. Except for buddies shooting through the sides on accident they are flawless. I have found the cheaper ones to be transparent, noisy, cramped, hubs break after a few trips, easily ripped and not worth the hassle. I have had 6 and got rid of all if them. Hope you have better results than mine...

Looking for one or two fishing poles for children

Do you ever pass through the bullhead city area? I've got quite a few that I don't use anymore and they are decent rods. Most were $50 or more.... -
I've killed plenty with both and lost some with both as well. Never found a better head than the g5 striker. I like replaceable blades on fixed heads the best.

Should be a personal choice. Wear it if you want, but not to be forced upon those who don't.

That's a bummer. I contacted them a couple years ago about the same thing. They sent me a new one at 85% off as they were no longer carrying them. There have been a couple for sale on the different forums the past couple months. Good luck....
-
They started at $800 Aha! That would have been a steal...
-
They aren't swarovision so $1200 is reasonable. Decent price, but not a great deal.

Great day for sure. Been in our family's prayers and will continue to wish the best for Jarod. -
I use the perfekt light hiker and love them. Longest lasting, most comfortable boot I have ever owned. Never leaked....

yes sir. I have receipts for every repair ever done except the oil changes as I completed all of those. Just completed the following to get it ready to sell: * replaced front brake pads * replaced windshield * replaced rear driveshaft u-joints * rotated tires * serviced rear end

Thanks Guys. This has been my personal driver since June '04. Swapped to synthetic fluids @ 3500 miles and have run synthetic ever since. Obviously, it's my hunting truck as well so as soon as my tranny slipped it was overhauled / noise in the rear-end it was overhauled / steering felt funny - replaced the rack & pinion / headlight plastic fogged - replaced headlights, etc, etc, etc.. I've kept her in great condition and the next owner will have a long lasting clean truck.

I would wonder why a rental house is selling used gear. Even if they had to much inventory you know the ones getting kicked to the curb aren't the best of the fleet. Then again perhaps if they are that bullet proof it doesn't matter. What say those of you with knowledge of these generators? Generally, rental companies will have a set range how long each piece of equipment will be used until they renew their fleet. Some are newer, some are older. Sometimes, it depends on their yearly revenue and tax liability as well. Lots of variables...Most stay on top of maintenance and are good to buy from.

Yep, amazingly tough. 'course, they can't go see a doc to get fixed up like us or our pets so they just have to live with their injuries. Can't believe some of the things I've found in elk while skinning and butchering. * broken antler tip * Broadhead with partial arrow * Broadhead * bullet fragments * muzzle loader bullet
