I have had 3 good scopes in my life...all of them withing the last 3 years. A zeiss hd 5-25 (purchased from a CWT memeber), leupold vxIII 6.5 x 20 and a nightforce SHV 5-20. The leupold was very nice, but a level down from these 2 sitting sidexsidexside looking out my living room window. Can't tell much of a difference between the Nightforce and Zeiss other than a different shade of light. A lot like how swaro binos have a different color of light than steiner, zeiss, etc. The nightforce may edge it out a hair, but not very noticeable. I have the target turret which has the zero stop and makes things pretty easy. You can order custome turrets from Kenton which I liked a lot. I'll order a couple different ones when I get more accustomed to shooting. I had bought both a v-plex and a 1000 yard reticle and ended up selling the 1000 yard reticle and keeping the v-plex. After shooting the nightforce and liking it, now I wish I kept the 1000 reticle. Overall, very bright and turrets work very well. Optics are good. Heavy as heck, but all the big scopes I looked at were like that. I'd like to get a 6.5 creedmore....if I bought one tomorrow, I'd put a Huskemaw blue diamond, Nightforce SHV, Zeiss hd in that order.

Kuiu. Buy a pair of the attack pants and you'll understand. I enjoyed sitka for years, but got rid of it and went to kuiu.

I see very very little difference in the optics, but I have good eyes. The biggest difference for me is the weight and I think that's only like 7%....wish they would make 15x60 els. Now, that would be a great bino!

When a bull hits the caliber of the one in your picture is when they go on my radar to keep track of. What I have seen, AZ, Nm & Co a bull like this will be in the 310" class next year. I say class as he could swing either way 10". I also have never followed many bulls in the better trophy units.

Please share your thoughts onn what this rifle is worth. I'm a little ignorant with rifles, but this one is a good shooter so I'm interested in making this my son's deer hunting rifle. * older 257 roberts that hasn't been shot for about 15 years until a few weeks ago. * douglas barrel (approx 1000 shots) * glass bedded * wood stock in very good condition * springfield action with no safety My dad shot this gun 8 times a few weeks ago and said it shot nearly 1/2 moa with factory ammo. What would you consider the value of this rifle? Any additional questions I should ask? Thanks for any input. Wade

Never thought I'd see snow in bullhead city, but today is the day. Completely changing my deer / pig plans.

Too many eyes! Seeing that group reminds me of how many times I've been busted by a doe at under 60 yards. Keep at it - lots of fun. -
Great finds

Swarovski EL 12x50 Swarovision and SLC 15X56 WB
azpredator@work replied to out4blood's topic in Optics and tripods
It's interesting how folks see things so differently. I've owned el's in 8's, 10's and 12's and have 15slc. Of the 4, I sold my 12's as I don't like carrying a spotting scope and use my 15's exclusively to find coues. I simply found more game with the 15's hands down. The swarovision 10's are perhaps my favorite multipurpose binocular of all time. I tried to love the 12's, but it wasn't happening. Felt like I was on a vibrating bed everytime I would freehand. I love the 8's for still hunting through the timber. The 10's will work as well, but not as good. If I brought the 12's on an archery elk hunt they could possibly cost me an opportunity as I would rarely look through them in the timber. For me, the only glass I see that is interesting at this time are the hd 15's due to the little bit of weight savings. Glad to see some 12's finding their place with people, but they're not for me. -
Another great hunt with family and friends.
