Let me know if you need help, Mark!

I can put you in touch with the HE staff down in Phoenix. You can take the online class and show up for a field day, or you can get into a Bonus-Point only class when one is offered. That option was put in a few years ago for people like yourself. Its for hunters who have been hunting for 3+ years. Not much instruction; you show up, its self-guided and then you can earn a point from AZ. I have to run, but PM me if you want more info.

Registration is open for the Northern Arizona Chapter (Flagstaff) Hunting Heritage Banquet. This will be our 30th Anniversary Banquet and we are planning for our best banquet ever. There will be all kinds of great prizes in the raffles, games, and auctions. I know of at least two ARs that will be available as well as about 10 other great firearms. As always, there is a special table that is for the ladies who hunt or come to support their significant other. Last year, a 13-year old girl won the ladies' pistol at the Ladies Table. We are switching over to online registration this year and I've included the link below. Invitations were also sent out right after Christmas. Those invitations have the link or you can mail them back in with your payment. If you know someone who wants to go, but doesn't have a computer, we can mail them an invitation to be sent back in. We hope to see many of you there! Registration: https://events.nwtf.org/30020-2018

Now you've got me interested! But then I've learned to trust your judgement!

Check out the Cabela's HevyShot turkey choke tube that is designed for non-lead turkey shot. I love it in my Rem 1187 and its a rather inexpensive choke tube. My daughter uses the HS Strut ported Undertaker in her 20 and it patterns great with Heavy Shot, too. I also have some Hornady 12 ga 3" turkey loads that I don't use. I think they're #5 shot, nickel plated, but I'll have to verify that. If they are what you want (event to test), I can even get it to the valley easy enough thanks to soccer tournaments. In fact, I'll be at Reach 11 and Fear farm this weekend.

As much as it pains me to agree with Bill today ( ), this right here is the best. I carry one box, 2-3 pots, four diaphragms, and even a couple of push buttons. I find the sound they like and go with it. Having said that, I'm much better with a pot call than a box call, but I need to get a good box call (hint, hint, Bill).

Congrats, Tim! If you're near me and I can help, let me know. I keep hoping that BPS buying out Cabela's and switching the CC system is why I'm not seeing any charges yet!

NWTF East Valley Toms Banquet March 3, 2018 Tempe Elks Lodge**LAST CALL**
IA Born replied to 125coues's topic in Conservation Group Events
8 and 10 are great ages to go to the banquets. We had a couple of diaper-runners at our banquet last weekend. Mark and Kathi will do a great job with the kids. My daughter and I will be there since we're going to be in town for a soccer game. I'm trying to talk her into wearing her bada$$ goalie jersey to the banquet, but she probably won't do it. See you there! -
On board 100%. I've always taught my kids that success isn't always about wrapping a tag. I teach them that because its how I was raised by my dad. It goes with the old adage of "A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day of work." I don't give congratulations for failures, either, but I also believe everyone should define their own success. Having said that, I really don't see the need to put that in writing and solidify it when there are much bigger issued the commission could be focusing on.

Police: Son knocked dad out in fight over dinnertime texting
IA Born replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
I don't know what would have happened to me because I was smart enough, or scared enough, not to find out. I know my friends dad had it right "I brought you into this world, I will take you out" is what I heard him say once. I heard that exact phrase more times than I can remember. Also heard "I'll dropkick you through the goalposts of life!" more than once. -

You'd have been lucky. I'd have been on my way to the morgue. -
Why would they let you enter now and promote it but in the terms say March 1st? Good question, but term number 6 states: "Entry for the contest(s) will begin on March 1st, 2018 at 5 PM MST and will conclude at the end of The Mountain Project Season 4, or May 5th, 2018 at 5 PM MST, whichever comes first (the “Contest Period”)." I'm guessing it must be worded wrong according to what azhunter85 is saying. At least they know someone actually read the terms and conditions!

Can't wait to see the video of my son's javelina hunt! I'll be entering on March 1st, when it says you can enter!
-
Thanks again for the calls and participating, Ammon! I'm waiting on the official numbers, but it looks like it was our best banquet ever! Hope to see you again!

Now that our annual banquet is over, we need to get back to selling our deck of cards. Lets get this deck sold! Thanks!

How much are the powders? I'll take that IMR 4895 and I'm in Flagstaff. I'm heading out of town early tomorrow morning for a long weekend. I'll be back late Monday and can meet up after that. I may not check this while I'm gone, but you can PM me with cost and meet up.

YES!!! I love stinkapottamus! Sorry, but the science/taxonomy geek in me couldn't help myself with the above post. Its always cool to see the looks on people's faces when you show them the cladograms showing that the closest relative of a javelina is a hippo and the split from their common ancestor was somewhere around 10-20K years ago!

. While we’re at can we stop calling them pigs of any kind. They are not pigs, they are not related to pigs. They are javelina. The funny thing is that, as a wildlife biologist who specializes in evolution and taxonomy, I know exactly what javelina are related to and even I've learned to go with the flow and call them pigs...sometimes even referring to them as stink pigs. I've even got my kids calling them pigs, although they absolutely know the reality. No matter what I call them, they are among my favorite things to hunt and they are great eating. But then I once ate a grasshopper on a dare and a cold pot roast MRE for breakfast, so there's that... I've even started saying Cooooze, but that's a whole other debate and thread. They are "New World Pigs" as opposed to "Old World Pigs". You look at the snout and the teeth and common sense tells you they are some kind of pig. Pigs of a different feather, but pigs none the less regardless of what the books say. Just like a Bear is essentially a pig, or an Elk is essentially a Bovine. Missing one dew claw, and lacking a gal bladder does not disqualify you from being essentially a "PIG"... JMO Actually, javelina are not really even close to pigs, other than their both artiodactylids (even toed). The javelina's closest relative is a hippopotamus and bears aren't even close to being pigs. Pigs are even-toed hooved mammals, while bears do not have hooves, so bears can't essentially be pigs. Elk are not bovine, either. Elk are cervids and only distantly related to the bovine. In the world of taxonomy, missing/lacking a particular body part or even having completely different parts does disqualify you from being classified in certain groups but, ultimately, DNA doesn't lie and always tells the truth. DNA has confirmed that javelina are not pigs (by a few thousand years) and that they are, in fact, more closely related to hippos.

Somehow, that original set of pics popped into my IG feed this weekend. Way cool! Congrats on the double!

Our banquet is just over 2 weeks away and there is still room if you're interested. Going to be a great night celebrating our 30th anniversary!

Any factory take off savage axis stocks?
IA Born replied to Presmyk's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I've also got a factory youth Axix stock if you need it. Came off a 7-08. Don't know the LOP off the top of my head, but my daughter started using it when she turned 9. She's 13 now and it still fits her. PM if you're interested in case I don't make it back to this thread. -
That's going to make someone starting out very happy! Good luck on the sale, Tim!

Congratulations! Love the shades in the last pic!

I never get tired of watching osprey fish. My luck is always such that I take my kids out fishing the local trout lakes, we don't get any bites, and then an osprey dives and nails one 40 yards from us!

I hear good things about Arizona Archery? Head north to Bull Basin Archery in Flagstaff!
