Thanks for that perspective. I forgot about the private land/land locked issues in that area. Much appreciated!

Sorry, I was looking at the November youth hunt with better draw odds. I didn't see a companion tag or youth lottery tag for 20C, but I also didn't look too closely today.
-
Thanks for that tip! I just saw the two general hunts right before this. I've hunted desert terrain quite a bit, but never in this area. Lots to think about and talk about with her, now. Thanks!

Thanks! She and I have lots to talk about, now!

Congrats! I'm hoping that's me next year: "A long time to draw for a short hunt!" Love that area!

They should still be good. Back in 2011, I was on a wildfire assignment in the Chiricahuas in late May/early June and I would kill down time by calling in Gould's toms without any calls; just doing my best hens yelps by mouth. My crew boss heard about this and had me show him. I called in a group of 5 toms to 40 yards as we were getting ready for the morning (roosting near our spike camp), two of which were strutting like crazy. You shouldn't have any problems getting them to talk!

Sounds like some great action so far! Glad you were able to get the correct info from AGFD up there. He's a great guy! Good luck for the rest of the season!

Congrats on a great bull!

Congrats! Hope the knee heals quickly!

Obviously to far for the first two shots. I just about spit my lunch out watching the video. That was awesome! Sorry, but I had to laugh at how nonchalant the bird got up, ducked at shot number two, and then just stood there while you reloaded (and took time to put your glove back on). That's a campfire story! Great video!

Awesome! I told my wife the other night that I'm heading to Kansas next year (with our daughter) now that a buddy has gotten himself established there in south central KS!

We covered a ton of ground with our Kelty Pathfinder. We got it shortly after our daughter was born and never looked back. It lasted through our son. It had some wear and tear on it after all those miles and years, but it was awesome. I could load it with plenty of food and water for me, the kids, and the dogs. Our daughter is 12 today and there are days I miss carrying her around like that. We got rid of it about 4 years ago, or it would be yours. Good luck! Our daughter at 18 months in the Chiricahuas Our son at 18 months in the Peaks

Congrats on a great hunt! Bubble wrapping her...I wonder if she knows my daughter! We've made a few hunts with splints and buddy-wrapped fingers. Her being a goalie could be the death of ME!

We finally got the results last week on our portal accounts and it turns out my daughter has the 4th Peaks cow tag. She's excited to hunt, but even she knows how difficult it will be by that time. But she told me she's willing to put on the miles in the three days we'll likely have and stay out all day until we're either out of time or have an elk on the ground! I absolutely love her commitment and dedication!

They're here. I've seen their sign in the Agua Fria grasslands on PNF, I know for a fact they're on some of the National Wildlife Refuges along the Colorado River (can't hunt them their unless the refuge regs changed), and I know they are up on the AZ Strip around Black Rock Mt and along the Virgin River.
-
Finally got in last night and found out that my daughter got the 3rd Peaks Hunt in 7E. That was her 4th choice and it will be a tougher hunt, but she's excited to chase elk again. She's already said she's committed to whatever it takes since she's older and stronger! I may look into a leftover tag (assuming the norm) to have in my pocket while we're up there.

You're not alone. I know its my daughter's tag, just trying to see where she's hunting!
