Born and Raised in Michigan until i joined the service(Army) after high school. Have lived in Arizona(Phoenix) for 5 years now. I have only taken one coues deer so far in arizona. Put in for hunts in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Wyoming and Utah. Also put in for Big Horn in Idaho.
  1. Second year in a row that i didn't draw a Coues tag and i'm pi$$ed. "But" I drew unit 9 archery Elk and my wife drew unit 5 Antelope. I can't believe it, residents do once i awhile draw unit 9. Yeah Hooo Jason

    whens the actual day...

This waiting is driving my crazy. My guess is this week forsure. I did draw a NM Muzleloader Elk tag in unit 23 (third choice). So if anyone sees any Elk while scouting for Coues let me know. Thanks Jason

    Draw Results?

It looks like i drew a Elk tag but no deer, sheep, or antelope. Now if NM could just post the results i would know which unit, 15 or 23.

    Draw Results?

Yeah, i heard something like that also, but that they were only going to issue one tag and it was for me.

    Draw Results?

Rembrant You know the first thing i did this morning was check for the draw results only to find out my anxiety will be delayed another month. Oh well.

    Draw Results?

Thanks, I could never figure out why Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada wait so late to let us apply and get the results. I always put in for the early archery elk hunt in 15 which starts at the end of August and if drawn i have only two months to scout. I hope we get drawn our first choices this year and have a CWT camp in 27. Jason
  8. Does anyone know when the results will be out for New Mexico? This is the time of year that i hate, waiting to find out if i've been drawn for anything.. I wish we could find out sooner.. Thanks Jason

    Ebay Toad

I wouldn't be surprised if Antlerboy is bidding on that rack. If so antlerboy, i would sure like to see that rack in person. Good Luck Jason

    group or single??

I always put in for deer with my dad and a friend. We always have the same amount of points so that doesn't hurt us and we all have the same love and respect for the outdoors, and of course passion for hunting. My wife still puts in separately for everything and maybe someday she will get drawn for a dream hunt(10 early bull, 13B muley, 34A, 32 coues, etc) that all the non-residents always seem to draw. The only thing bad about putting in separetely is you maybe hunting alone if you draw different units. Good Luck

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD GUIDE

I would think that once a guide gets involved and tries to get hunters to pay $6,000 +, they might have a hard time getting hunters to pay that for unit 12 and then tags go unused. Just my opinion! Is the property on the North or South side of Unit 12? Is there good water on the property? Good Luck. Jason

    LOOKING FOR A GOOD GUIDE

Why not just sell the tags without the guide. You might beable to get $1,500 to $2,500 for the bull tags and about the same for the antelope tag in unit 12. You could post the tags on Huntin Fool website and in their magazine for free, i think. The first year i don't get drawn for Elk in NM i'm going to try and find a reasonable priced land owner tag in 15 if that is possible. Brett is right about a lot of guide services in Springerville that guide already in NM on private land. Crazyaboutcoues could also help you. Jason

    Sheds

I went this past Sunday to look for some sheds and didn't find anything. My dad found a 5x5 bull dead and a friend found a 5x7 elk set. We watch a couple of big bachelor groups of elk that all still had their horns. Seen two really nice Muley's but no Coues deer. I thought the elk and mule deer would have all shed their horns by now, would do you guys think? Jason
  14. Red Rabbit, You can buy Eastmans DVD that shows all their televised shows now. I bought it and watched the Coues Deer down south show. Killed a very nice Coues Deer around 105'. The Guide said they were only 20 miles south of Arizona. The Guide also said the buck Guy Eastman shot was the best buck he had seen in years!!!!

    What unit to apply for?

Couesbitten I think all of the Arizona units have tropies in them. You just have to put in your time scouting and pass on the smaller bucks during your hunt. If I don't get drawn and you do, you let me know and i will help you scout. I'm always wanting to learn new areas. I have never hunted 36C, 32, or 24B but have seen pictures of great bucks coming out of those units. Jason
