Thats a horrible decision for a first deer. First deer should be little spikes, or button bucks, or even a doe! How do you improve on that? Could be a disappointing hunting career for that kid for a long time now.

Mathews Switchback LD, 70 lb, 31" draw, setup with Ripcord dropaway, Spot Hogg 7 deadly pins sight(actually 6 deadly pins now, one fell out the first time I shot it, didnt know I was supposed to tighten them down myself and I never bothered to replace it.) Mathews 2 piece quiver, Sims s-coil stabilizer with furry wrist sling. Original string, shows little sign of wear. Bow is set up and ready to go, perfect for the taller archer or someone with monkey arms like me. $625 delivered or $600 pick up in east Mesa area. Come by and shoot it if you like. grizzlyplumbing@yahoo.com, 480-695-7401. Randy.

This is now my backup to my backup and more than two bows becomes very suspicious for the wife. Needs a good home.

very cool, nice first post. What area was that in?

This is the first year I havent gone to Utah in 4 years, money tight and the tags sold out early. I sure missed it, congrats on the buck.

I bought a pair of the Steiner 25x80 observers on Sportsmans Guide several years ago, didnt like them at all, sold them on here very cheap. At that high magnification everything is distorted, heat waves during the day look like ocean waves, and each diopter focuses individually, also the eyecups are oval shaped which is nice because it keeps the light out on the side of your eyes but each time you focus the diopter you have to adjust the eyecup again. I bought the Minox and havent regretted it. On the positive side, Sportsmans Guide was great to deal with and when my brother knocked the tripod over a ledge and smashed the objective lense they replaced them for free.

Desertbull is exactly right, the quality of glass for the money is great with the Minox, but those eyecups will drive you crazy. Still what I use though, have had mine for 5 years and dont plan to upgrade any time soon. My brother has the Zeiss and they are much lighter and more compact but I have not yet used them so dont know the head to head quality yet.

Im pretty sure dish does not offer it, I have requested it from them before. But go to their website and request it, the more of us that hound them the better chance of getting it in the future.

I always carry on archery hunts. I printed out that page listed above last year and put it in my pack, it is one thing to have the law on your side but that doesnt guarantee the game warden knows the specifics of that law.

And that is why I shoot the babies.

Bowhunted it several years ago, as stated above very steep and rugged. Saw a few bucks but they saw me too. Found a decent lion kill in there, mid 80s. Good luck if that is where you decide.

I like Bear Mountain and have bought several bows there, but have also heard good things about Archery Headquarters.

He isnt saying "leave this spot alone", it looks to me like he is trying to not have his blind stolen under the abandoned property law. If he said "go away I was here first," then I would say "what an idiot, you lose."

Thank you. I made the same point on page 1 (maybe not as well)and agree completely.

Doesnt bother me, I tried to guide my brother into a small herd of bucks via radio last year, he still never found them. I dont think the moral police need to get involved in how someone is legally shooting a deer. There are many people who say the same thing about compound bows, or just about compounds with 80% letoff. Archery is already a big handicap, why sweat all of the other stuff? just my opinion.

Must have eaten something pretty mean if its bound to take your life.

Jed is a great guy to deal with, one of my favorite guys in the archery business. I remember him working at BM down here years ago, very helpful and knows alot. I had heard he was guiding but didnt know he had his own shop. I will be looking for his shop the next time I am in the white mtns just to say hi. Does anyone know what brands he carries.

I bought several pair of Oakley special forces boots from ebay, waterproof, very light weight and very comfortable. A good day hiker, perfect for early season archery but not for extended hunts.

I love that man, mine is a 12v with 4" exhaust, fuel plate turned up, lots more mods planned but due to the lack of new home construction in the valley the rest will have to wait... Also got the cwt sticker on the back window, the most important mod of all.

I want to see pics of the rest of the truck! 12 or 24 valve? I got the 12.

You would have to hold low. You gotta practice, stand up on the apex of your house and shoot your target as if you were up in the tree.

Got my solar panels and batteries at Cabelas. I think they came to about $25 together, hard to beat. Also added a 2 GB sd card from Megalomart for $6 and I can leave my cams out for months.
