Heck ya man congrats beautiful bird!

What a different day then the past few. Birds fired up and we had one come in right off the roost. Came in with a few gobbles and stayed about 50yards just out of range. Decided to go to different area 20 miles away and man did it pay off. Started with one tom and five hens strutting and couldnt close the deal then a solo tom about 1/4 mile down road and she made a perfect shot. Prob best moment i have ever had hunting. what a feeling seeing her so excited and pumped about getting a bird! I will never forget this!

Back from work and now catching up on things. Thanks guys for the replies. Best hunt i have had and cant wait to hopefully repeat for my son next year for his first!

just wanted to start the youth turkey thread. whos all going? been looking forward to this all year, and after last year I am ready to make things happen this time. hopefully I can post some good pictures of this years fun. anyone doing the youth camps?

Got my daughter up in this cold weather and headed to finds some birds. Woods are dead silent no birds crows anything making noise. Opened the utv doors and wont close so we had to tie closed and came back to place. Going to let it defrost a little including the turkey and head out in a few. Got over 10 inches of snow i am pretty sure

Didnt hear a thing this evening.

This late snow reminds me of a time when i was hunting turkey in the manzano mountains in nm. They stayed quiet until about 9am and then it seems like they finally warmed up and they were on fire. My cousin shot a double that day with one shot.

Well it def did not work out as planned. They were fired up this morning and it brought in other groups of hunters.it didnt work out so made a move and got on another bird. He was answering pretty good but not making any moves so i decided to walk try and get closer as i thought he was walking away. Turns out almost hour after sun up he was still in tree and flew out when we got right under him. Learning mistake for sure he wa just hanging out in tree waiting for the hen to walk in.

Just roosted a few birds. Was pretty cool got them to shock gobble and then walked down this old log road closer to them and they flew from ridge to my left and all landed in different trees above me. Weather might not be good but i know the tree they are in so we will see how it goes. Seems like maybe five toms gobbling from the trees so my fingers are crossed for my daughter.

Sorry man sold my pile. I will have no problem giving you a pair in the future once i make another trip. Been focused on my daughters turkey and also struck out last shed outing. I ams sure i will run across a few later this year if you still are in need.

Anyone driving the 300rd from 260 to 87? Is it open yet? Online says yes but drove a week ago and sign said still closed at woods canyon lake? Want to head that way next week.

Daughter finished online and virtual field day. We printed certificates of completion but waiting for hunter ed card and it to show up on portal but nothing. Been almost a month. Anyone have insight on how long or when i should expect to see a card or it in portal account?

Daughter got card in mail took 4 weeks prob holidays. But i do got another question. We did normal online hunter ed and then did ilearntohunt for virtual field day. Going to start my son now but have two options to use i learntohunt or the hunter ed . Which one should we do for full class? Any opinion from anyone who has done both?
