Navajo Nation elk hunts unit 13/14 leftover tags
SWDesertRat replied to vincefmx's topic in Elk Hunting
NonNavajo is $400 deer and 600 for elk, at least for the seasons on those leftover tags. Like Norteno says, there are some bulls and bucks that move through that portion south of Gallup along the Hogback and Ft Wingate area. Ive seen some nice bulls moving around the Zuni and Nav boundary too a little further south. The country around Bread Springs isnt very rugged but pretty thick juniper country. There are good points in the area that would work for glassing lits of country. If you get a tag, take a look at the country north of Mt Taylor in Unit 14. -
Yep, Im looking for a 7mm Rem mag for a southpaw. I know these arent hens teeth so let me know what you have. Not looking for a built gun, stock is perfect, and more likely in my price range. If I dont find it here, I'll be going to gunbroker or similar sight. Would prefer a FTF deal and someone in the 'community'. Thanks Call or text 575 64niner 1three 72

Want to Buy Frontier Gear Backpack and Frame!
SWDesertRat replied to cpugsie's topic in Classified Ads
Good luck in your quest! I wouldnt sell mine for anything... Seen guides in Ak, New Zealand, and all the Canadian provinces use these packs and use them hard. Best external frame pack money can buy. I really hope you find a good deal. -
Using 2-way radios while hunting. Legal, ethical or what?
SWDesertRat replied to Whitesheep's topic in The Campfire
Keep in mind regarding the OP's original comment about Tim Christie's article in Az Wildlife Views and radios, that Mr Christie is a freelance writer and likely did not explore Az statutes regarding the use of radios when he wrote his article. That would be my guess. However, there are some states, MT for example where radios are illegal. -
I did a little research when I was looking at grinders. I discovered that for what I do and what most folks do, 3/4 hp is plenty big enough. My buddies went in on a Cabelas 3/4 when it was on sale and one of them had a coupon so it knocked 200.00 off. The thing is a beast, and works great, I just dont like how much space it takes up for storage. So I started looking for alternatives. There are lots out there, Costco even has one. I settled one that attaches to the Kitchen Aid, not KA brand though, its called Chefs Choice, it comes with a coarse and fine grind and its all metal. We already owned the Kitchen Aid Pro 550, which means its 550 watts, essentially almost 3/4 hp. Ive run two javelina through it, and the mixer didnt even balk at the frozen meat and fat I was putting through it. Best part is cleanup is a breeze, the whole grinder can go into the sink or dishwasher and it all fits in a big bowl in the cupboards. Easy set up, take down and storage and I bought it for about 100.00 on Amazon. Oh and the lady was more excited about the grinder than I was because she can use it for dinner size jobs without too much hassle.

While drinking my first cup of coffee this morning I had four different quail coveys come into my backyard pond. Each covey had young chicks, oldest were nearly full grown and youngest were size of golfballs. Highest number of chicks was 24 with a set of parents and the smallest group was 3. Even with this drought it could be a good year for quail! We'll have to see how many chicks actually survive though.

Go easy on this guy before you flame him as a scammer. I dont know him from Adam but if this guy is legit its a good deal on a nice firearm. The potential buyer has the ability to work with the OP and then let us know if the deal stinks or feels fishy. What is up with this site lately? Is everyone antsy for hunting season and therefore edgy and nasty as a bunch of teenage girls...Jeez! ParkerIowa, welcome to the site. GLWS, hopefully you can work out a deal or arrangement with a buyer that makes them feel comfortable. Im just curious as I dont see an issue with shipping ammo, but thats just me.

In my humble opinion, 9 out of 10 hunters who hunt in Az would scream bloody murder at a proposed $2.00 tag fee increase per species. It is also my opinion that most of us are arm chair qb's or satellite bulls that scream their heads off online but never step up to challenge the herd bull and that when the time comes simply dont put their money where their mouth is and voice their opinion. If the Azgfd is going to use any information about tag fee increases, it would be best to give them constructive information that they can use about what you think is reasonable fee increase or not instead of 'you money grubbing jerks' . It is also my humble opinion that its a user play user pay system. Yah need to pay for it if you want to hunt it or buy a point for it or complain about it. I have yet to decide what I like or dislike about the current proposed fee structure, you can be sure I'll share my opinion with the azgfd in a clear, constructive manner that provides them information they can use when I do make up my mind.

So the Youtube video of the Coues deer that were thought to be in Mexico (fairly recent post) made me think that a few other folks might like to see what I picked up this last spring. I have yet to pick up a brown Coues shed; though I was pretty excited to find this pair and think it's a step in the right direction. How I found them: After I cleaned them up: The larger buck had a chipped point and both his left and right beams were busted up. Not sure if he was the last one standing or broke them off sometime during the rut before the fatal lockup. Anyways, just thought some of you might appreciate this. -C

So these have been sitting on my back porch since I cleaned them up. Curious if anyone would want them to display in a better fashion, otherwise, Im tossing them in with the rest of my sheds when I sell them. Let me know if youre interested. Ive never put a tape on them. Located in N Phx area.

I am generally not a fan of cats (or any free loading pet) especially stray cats, however I once watched a dog -not mine just a stray- die from antifreeze poisoning. It was the most brutal, long suffering thing to witness. I think every critter, domestic or wild deserves a humane or quick death. Gamo makes a nice whisper pellet gun. A little more quiet than the cheap crossmans and perfect for scaring off unwanted pests.. 'Sides everyone needs a good pellet gun.

Nonhunting items FS: Canon 35mm and K&N Cold Air Intake for 01-04 Tacoma
SWDesertRat posted a topic in Classified Ads
Items are located in North Phoenix. Will ship on your dime or meet FTF. For sale is a Canon EOS Rebel X 35mm Camera. Condition is excellent, I've had this camera for over a decade and just do not use it any longer and thought someone else might have some use for it. This camera is ready to use. Included in sale are the following: 1 Sigma Zoom 35-80mm with UV filter 1 Tamron AF 80-210mm with UV filter 1 Telesor Flash (Model #TR22TD). Plus I have all the original manuals, cleaning kit and a Quantaray Camera Bag I would like 120.00 OBO, or possible trade for ammo or guns. Also for sale is K&N Cold Air Intake plus cleaning kit. I had this on my truck for a few years. I took it off a couple of years ago as I wasn't driving on dirt roads as much. It has sat in my garage since I remove it and I want to clear some space. The intake probably increased my gas mileage around 1.5-2 mpg, gave the Tacoma a little more of a throatier sound. Didn't notice an increase in RPM's (wasn't really paying attention) but K&N claims that it does. Best thing about this intake is that when I was driving almost entirely on dirt roads I didn't need to clean the filter the same as if it were an OEM filter. This kit is complete and ready for install, only item missing are two zip ties for seating the intake tube in the holder. I was not to locate the instruction manual but install directions are available on the web, or I'd be happy to help on the install. New this intake retails over $200, plus cleaning kit is 12.00. I'll take $150.00 OBO cash or trade of ammo or guns. thanks for looking, please PM me for offers, additional information or photos -
My first two years pig hunting felt like a snipe hunt, then the learning curve kicked in and its a different story now. You were in the right places if you were finding sign, its just matter of timing and search image. Parts of 20b get a lot of pressure but it also has some good areas with zero pressure and fat happy pigs.
