Got a mule deer cape if anyone needs one. Killed 2 days ago and it’s currently in the freezer. Unfortunately the cape isn’t tubed because I already cut up the back of the neck before deciding to cape it. Buck field dressed right at 190 pounds. Nice looking cape. Asking $75 located in Sierra Vista.

Yeah I don’t go up that way very often. Every now and then I go up to Big Lake in the summer but that’s about it.

Not much to say about this hunt. We found him 500-600 yards out. Waited for him to bed. Snuck up to 180. He stood up and my father in law knocked him back down again. Tagged out and back to the truck by noon. Here’s a hot take for ya tagging out on opening morning is overrated.

Saw 2 coues bucks harassing the ladies today. Nothing too crazy but enough to get the blood pumping. This was the first time seeing coues bucks with does. 2024 deer hunts_1.mp4

Glassed muley country today and still found 4 coues bucks. 2 singles and one double. No coues ruttin activity yet. Did find this muley pushing a group of about 10 or so does pretty good throughout the day.

Went scouting this morning in SE AZ. Saw 5 bucks….a group of 2 and a group of 3. No signs of rut at all. Did find a fresh rub though.

80 late Dec coues tags with 10 any antler muzzy tags so 90 total for the late hunt. You have to sign in every day to the area you want to hunt and they only allow a certain amount of hunters in each area. Some areas only allow as little as 2 hunters at any given time. Majority of the areas allow anywhere from 3-5 hunters. The good/popular areas fill up fast so you gotta be quick to sign in.

Seems to be a common theme among the border units this year.

Congrats that’s a long shot in my book. I can hit targets out to 700-800 but so far my longest on a deer has been right around 350. Kudos for keeping it real when you could have easily left the misses out of the story. My hats off to you you’re a brave man👍

Thanks! Already ate the tenderloins and some backstrap. Very tasty! If it was my tag he definitely would have gotten a pass which would then lead me to desperately looking for a spike on the last day🤣

Na man this opening morning stuff sucks..Nothing beats that feeling you get when you bag a buck on the last day after hunting your butt off. Last day buck trumps first day buck every time.

That tripod part had me scratching my head. I still can't think of a good reason for implementing a rule like that other than to keep the crossbow guys from being able to shoot further than the bow hunters thus making it a little more like an actual bow hunt.
