Ok boys and gals. I am really excited for my daughter’s first deer hunt! She will turn ten the first week of October next year. This year Santa brought her a new rem 700 ADL 243. Most, my wife, say I am way too excited because I got the rifle a full year in advance. I think it is important so she can become very good at her first center fire hunting rifle if we are going to chase big game with it. I ended up getting a non-youth model because I figured that would be what she would be using most of the time. Plus the extra barrel length only helps too. I am hoping to find a second stock so I can cut it down. It will have to be cut down quite a bit because my daughter is petite. Wood preferred but only to make it a ‘traditional’ looking rifle. Thanks!!!!

in our family we would call a back east 8 point a "three point" or a "three by three" junk is junk we never count eye guard, reguardless if the deer has them or not, in the count. extra point on one side then we would say "a three plus an extra" weird i know

it has been said already but it is that important: water extra water jugs extra deep cell batteries. a tarp to put over your TT. You can find one that will cover the whole thing if you get in a leak situation.

They do exist. My cousin works in a government office in Hermosillo where they distribute them. She got me one for my grand fathers farm. They are relatively inexpensive. What area and size do you need?

I am having the same issues. How bad my accuracy is I don't know but some times it seems like I cannot even hit the dirt. I have a real attachment to the rifle because my brother gave it to me for my birthday. As for the quality control I cannot comment on because my rifle, Marlin 44mag as well, was manufactured in 1974. I needed some smith work on it, fuction related not accuracy, and some one here recommended Lawsons here in Tucson. They did a heck of a great job on it. The grumpy old smith there knew every thing there was to know about it too. Unfortunatly I did not ask about the accuracy issue because I had not gotten that far into it. Something he stated that surprised me with was that it should not have 44special rounds fired in it because it would mess up the action. More D

That is one of the beautys of what we enjoy doing. We can mix it up! Last February I scratched the similar itch. I used a 5mm Remington to take a javalina. It worked great and I had a great time.
