This year I bought a head band type Coleman brand light that has 1, 3, 5 led's or a regular bulb at Costco for $11. I figured that it would be much more practicule than my 2AA mag light. Of coures when we were feild dressing my cousins buck the new head band light was hanging back at camp. Boy was I pissed. I too almost chucked the 2AA light out of frustration but then we could not have seen anything.

NEW RIFLE PURCHASE FOR NOV HUNT ADVIDE
More D replied to gnoto's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If you are cheap like me, meaning that you you want the most for you money, well hello brother. You have already got some great comments from the CWT boys already. One thing I might add is the you take into concideration is the ammos cost and availability. .270 Weatherbys ballistics have always impressed me but so has the cost of a box of ammo. I'm not picking on the caliber just triing to make a point. .243 might be a little light for Elk as already mentioned but you can't go wrong with .270, 30-06, .300 Win mag. These calibers are available pretty much any where you can find ammo. heck at Wally Mart you can get the .243, .270, 30-06 for $11.97 a box and if you are lucky your rifle will shoot best with one of these loads. When I bougt my M70 6 years ago when I walked in to Wally Mart intent on getting a .300 win mag or a 7mm Rem mag. "I had to have a Magnum". After seeing the cost of ammo to practice with I walked out with the '06. I have never regreted it. You mentioned someting for all AZ game, the 30-06 is hard to beat. It can be loaded form 100grs to 220grs. Mags also hold one less round then standard, some see this as nothing but I said it would one day and it did make a diff on opening morning Friday. Me with my 30-06 and my hunting partner(cousin) 7mm mag. That is a story for another post. You have ALOT to chew on and you better get going, TIME IS SHORT. You make ME NERVOUS your hunt is coming SOON and your still shopping. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!! -

Anyone hunting with new firearms this season?
More D replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
That purty wood will get you every time! Nothing new for me, this year at least. I keep thinking about a new rifle in 300WSM To replace my 30-06 "mule" but then I take it to the range and the groups it shoots make me smile every time!! !! It is a bit beat up even for a syn stock but it does its part, now all I need to do is hold up my end. I am working on the "new" still, I got the bino bug and there is a pretty good deal on Pentax 10x42s at Popular. All i need to do is sell my old binos down in Mexico for good money like I did my spotting scope I might be able to pull it off. Isn't it funny how our hunting equipment always need to be "upgraded" -
2 weeks for me too!! Our whole hunting party(The family) can't wait!

Beautiful ! the coues AND the two big guys smileing!!! Look like you guys had a great time. You are truly blessed!

Hey 300, My brother has the Nov rifle Kaibab tag. Just wondering if there is anything up around the town of Jacob lake. Like a resturant, store, motel? He and his brother-in-law drew this tag out of sheer luck. Meaning they could not hunt this year so they both applied for the impossable to get the bonus point and.......of course they got it. Now they are going to hunt to say the least, they only had to beg and borrow from work, wife, and every thing else to get to hunt. Any other help/info would be greatly apreciated to help get my brother and his brother-in-law, both great guys, there first deer ever. We have NEVER been there and don't even know any one who has been there before let alone hunt there. Thanks

Your buddy was sent to school for one night but it was never reported and no paper work was more than likey done to attach his name to his "offense" Especially if this was during one of the busy week ends down there. That would be guess, but only a guess. Not a major crime, I don't think so. I once had lunch with a lawyer and a judge in Nogales Mex. When we came out I got a parking ticket as I was reading it the judge buddy of mine saw me and said not to worry about it that nothing would ever happen with the ticket. I said cool are you going to "take care of it for me" He laughed and said "no, There is no way they can know about this later" He explained something about a poor computer system. A parking ticket and being in jail are way different but who knows. Tell your buddy to ask a lawyer in Mexico NOT the authorites. Asking the wrong people would only tell them something they might never now!

Your right DBack.....but Deer is a given for me and family with the hope for and Elk tag every few years and a Buff and sheep tag only befotre I die. If my wife and daugter all get a tag after the new HIGHER FEES I can promise you all that new higher fees only hurt me. $30 in gas $50 for a tag is a good way to look at it but how about a guy whos Arizona Elk budget is in the 10s of thousands. $500 or $1500 or even $2500 is not going to hurt, heck it will make it easier for him to get a tag and even an Elk. Saddend to see that our G&F is being ran around like they only had them self to worry about. More money for tags ARE NOT THE ANSWER!
