24A Access through Senica Lake
Apache7mm replied to willhunt4coues's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Sorry to hear about your bad luck/bad day, spoke with the Sgt. here at SC Rec & Wildlife and he says we do not require non-members to have/need a permit to pass through Seneca onto 24A, the Rez only has 2 available "Pass Through" permits and they're for the south of Bylas area, other than that you only need a Recreation Permit to pass through the non-closed areas of the rez say like through Eagle Creek onto state land, what yourself and everyone else has been saying is exactly what the Sgt. told me, "since its just a mile or so we do not require non-members to have a permit to pass through Seneca onto 24A", so the bottom line is NO you or anyone else does not need to have a permit to pass through Seneca onto 24A, i have a feeling you got the ROOKIE ranger and he takes his job a little bit too serious for whatever reasons, because the couple other rangers i asked said the same thing "we don't ticket anyone going through Seneca to get to state land", so please don't let it get you too fired up, it's just too bad something like this happened but i'm sure we all have our bad luck days from time to time so hopefully this brings a little bit of closure to your situation, i know the taste is bad but hopefully it will eventually go away. HOLY EYEGUARDS!!!!! DAN -
My uncle shot this nice buck during the tribal member deer season here on the San Carlos, its got great main beams and good mass, gross score is 108 B&C. He's looking to get it shoulder mounted, anyone know what a good shoulder mount runs these days? any recommendations? DAN

San Carlos Apache Rez 108 buck
Apache7mm replied to Apache7mm's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Hey thanks for all the info guys, yea my uncle don't really mind the prices, he's just been out of the taxi-cost list for awhile so he just wanted to know what they're running today, first thing he's gonna get mounted in a long time, he took this buck in UNIT C, not on the Nantac, just stopped there for some photos. For all the guys with San Carlos NOV and JAN tags, not too many big coues were taken this year from the tribal hunt, from the sounds of it a lot of big deer got away, and if you guys havn't been out here in awhile don't freak out on all the dried up tanks all over the rez cuz there's plenty, regarless everyone still saw deer in the usual honey holes though. Also i'll go ahead and drop the bomb about a 136" gross 3x3 coues that was killed by a tribal member this season, i've only seen pictures and it's pretty amazing, i gotta get more info on it still though, sorry for the tease guys. -
WOW! thats a sweet buck, love the eyeguards, congrats to the whole crew! DAN

Congrats to everyone, especially to your wife on a killer first coues buck! Now the hard part is topping it. DAN -
Pictures of San Carlos Lake for those who havn't been out lately, water is very low right now, already talks of people catching some big fish, they have nowhere to hide now, the water is so low some of us Apaches might be able to move back to Old San Carlos lol. DAN

Excellent sheds, nice looking bucks, way to go on the elk too for the in-law. DAN
-
Now that is a very impressive buck right there, regardless of score thats one of the most beautiful bucks i have ever seen, great job. DAN
