We did do some transfers last year around this time to the dirt tanks. If we're able to safely get on the water we might try some transfers again this week. DAN

It does sound like plenty getting stuck trying to launch/load now. We'll likely be making recommendations to close things down soon as conditions progress along. Here's where the water level will be in a couple of weeks. You can see why everyone's getting stuck now. DAN

A friend sent me that picture. I was there earlier in the day though checking things out. I haven't seen many catching crappie anymore but still plenty of bass action. DAN

Launching at Soda Pt still possible but starting to get tricky. DAN

My understanding, currently the minimum pool San Carlos is allotted isn't much and thus is "sold" annually. Any other ongoing litigation i have no information on. DAN

Watchout for Habitat Stamps, Just kidding. Have seen plenty of camping from trailers to tents and even back of the pickup and haven't heard any issues arise yet. DAN

The 2026 event will take place March 13-15, 2026. Everyone can start signing up with the department Monday morning (3/9). Pretty much same details as in past events. Any other questions before then that anyone might have can be directed to myself. DAN

Trying to help out a family member with a fridge as theirs has recently gone out. Anyone have something that is in working condition, not worried about cosmetics. Can arrange to come pickup just about anywhere. Thanks. DAN

Tribal hunts on San Carlos were about normal for mule deer harvests while coues hunting was really tough and very few mature bucks seen/taken (there's always a beauty or two in the hundreds of tags but not a single one this year). Also same story on the quail as most other places in the state and the mention of old springs coming back to life has certainly been observed out here as well. Fall turkey hunts probably the worst ever too. DAN

San Carlos had some okay numbers on the surveys but definitely leaning towards the lower end. Also noticed the same as mentioned above, birds that haven't been pressured flushing before you got anywhere near them. Have yet to go out myself but already looks to be a tough year. DAN

Lake levels for San Carlos and Roosevelt due to recent floods?
Apache7mm replied to knothead's topic in Fishing
Plenty of flooding all around town even a couple of rescues but luckily no one hurt or no major damage. The gauge at the Peridot bridge below bashas peaked at 16,000 cfs. DAN -
Lake levels for San Carlos and Roosevelt due to recent floods?
Apache7mm replied to knothead's topic in Fishing
San Carlos went back up about 1% now that the gates are closed, might add another 1% to that by the time its all said and done. DAN -
Probably just an estimate but says for 30 days at this point. DAN

Nice and green out in C with plenty of water all over so should be a really good hunt with lots of activity. DAN

Lake levels for San Carlos and Roosevelt due to recent floods?
Apache7mm replied to knothead's topic in Fishing
No impact on San Carlos as most of the runoff went towards Roosevelt. San Carlos area had its own short-lived flood event but most people don't realize just how far the water has to travel to reach the Lake and most of that route is very sandy with big S curves that don't help. Current water level is 0.39%. On a positive note a bunch of our dirt ponds filled back up and should be ready for restocking immediately. DAN -
Currently at 1.4% today. Water backs up to about jack rabbit flat area. No signs of fish kill yet besides a few by the dam area, otherwise the water actually still looks fine. Primitive launching only now by soda canyon and New Govt areas. Sounds like catfish is doing really good right now, seen plenty of 20lb flathead skeletons all over the place. Rest of the reservation remains closed at this time. Only fishing allowed at Talkalai and San Carlos Lake. DAN
