Fall 2008 AZ Hunt Recommendations?
KGAINES replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
They are going to the directors office soon and will be available early April I believe. -
http://news.aol.com/story/_a/wolverine-rar...S00010000000001 I don't care one way or another on this, but I wonder how many sightings were by hunters. I would bet that hunters spend way more time in the field than all of these people, and if the only people seeing these things are the people from the center for biological diversity, who's to say that it wasn't planted there to create a huge (endangered species) issue. I truly hope it's really a native species, but if they find it isn't and was planted, then these groups need to be squashed, but then again the "they" that will be doing the testing and research would be in on it. Next will be the elusive Shasta Musk ox, or the Chino Valley Cheetah, the Colorado River Humpback Chub, oh wait that one is real.

I seen a snake dead in the road on Tuesday, wondering if anyone else has started seeing them while out.
-
There was no lawsuit, just a request to the commission, and the commission denied them. Cabela's stated they will NOT take legal action and will accept the commissions decision.

Welcome back, did you apply for an elk or antelope tag. -
I received one from commissioner Mclean as well.

It was UPS and they used another company for the leer I believe, but I think by the time they had contracted them it may have been too late, from what was explained from Cabelas and UPS they tried like heck to get them in on time, they just waited until the last minute to do it, they both had representatives there to plead their case.
-
They also spent 9000.00 dollars on a leer jet to get the package to phoenix, they were delayed in Denver. When I say they I am pretty sure it was UPS, I think all Cabelas will have to reimburse is their application fee that the TAGS program charges, because AZGFD did not charge them anything, I don't think.

I agree Doug I thought the commission did a great job with how they handled this, at least that is how I feel now that I heard what was said. I think Cabelas and UPS were there to try to do what was best for their customers, even though I still don't agree with how they did it. One thing that I am not happy about was the mention that a Cabelas employee asked an AZGFD employee to accept the Apps. and just keep it between them, it does show that the AZGFD employee showed a ton of integrity and I commend that as well, and it shows the Cabelas employee was probably worried sick because he knew the package was going to be late. Cabelas did say that they would abide by any decision made by the Dept., and would not pursue it any further, there was mention that a few of their clients might pursue further action. Cabelas also made mention that there were numerous false accusations going around in chat rooms and on forums, there were 568 applicants, not 40,000, there was no strongarming or underhanded means or threats of lawsuits used by cabelas on the dept., they appeared to have been monitoring websites and the information provided on these websites, and wanted to set the record straight that they were only following due process. They also mentioned that they supported state wildlife agencies and did not sue them, and they wanted to remind us all that they were approached and had denied to participate in a very high profile lawsuit against this dept. Again Thank You to the Commission and to the AZGFD.

They denied the extension request.
-
The right thing was done, 5 aye to deny request.
-
I agree

Keith, be part of process and go to the meeting and speak your mind, just be respectful about it. Let the process play out, it will most likely go against them anyway. Looking back at Casey's post on the scale, I too believe he was jiving about the scale, post edited Part of the problem is the time for this meeting, if at all possible I will be there.

When their apps were sent back, that was being told NO, they are using a loophole in the rules if it is there to slow the process down for everyone that did it right. My problem was that they should ahave and probably did ask in private and were told no by the director, so now they are asking the commission. This reminds me of those commercials you see on tv of the drunk dis-oriented person standing in front of the police car and then it goes to the law office, when I was arrested for dui I called (nobody & nobody) and they got me out of it. Cabelas is making it out like they are out to help everyone and not just their clients, do you think if any one of us asked cabelas hey um I was a little late for the draw, would you ASK the commission for me to extend the deadline, I asked and was told no, but you are one of the if not the largest hunting and fishing stores in the world, and they will pull strings to hear you, we wouldn't get jack squat from them. There are a few things that I might say we ought to listen to them, but this was a mistake on their part and bringing it into the public light like this is making them look bad and making the AZGFD look bad too, in my opinion. No matter what the outcome, if anyone messes up later this year or next year there is now a precedent to go before the commission and cause a delay for everyone to have them hear your case, even a month after the deadline, and if they don't hear you out, you will absolutely have a lawsuit for an ambulance chaser.
-
Maybe cabelas can get O.J. Simpson to do commercials for them if this is allowed, kind of like his old commercials, running throught he airport, jumping over stuff, then handing the box over to a Game and Fish rep., the box will have Cabelas TAGS written on it. I have a feeling Casey was telling a fish story about the scale.
-
Game and Fish would tell an individual tough luck; and the correction period also has a deadline, do you think they call anyone up that misses the deadline. The way I read the rule is the director can authorize an extension, why then is the commission involved in this one, because of Cabelas, because of the money they represent, and I don't care what they say just them asking for this is throwing their weight around, major corporations know that and use it to their advantage. If this does happen the can of worms it will open is going to cause problems with this department for years to come.

Who can make the Cabelas sucks bumper stickers, or the cabelas with the circle and slash through it bumper stickers.
