In anticipation of upcoming ventures!

I like the bug hole wood on the front plaque, looks cool. -
There is also a fall hunt but I have never hunted that time of year
-
They are Rio's. The biologist said they breed year round but peak in the spring. The spring hunt is the month of March with a two tag limit. There are no natural predators so they are fairly easy to call in.

I love Turkey hunting in Hawaii. Hunted there several years until my brother moved from Hawaii. Its a regular Hawaiian vacation with one morning and afternoon used to fill all our turkey tags (2 each). I cant wait to take my boys back in a year or two. Just a few things to know before you go hunting in Hawaii. You have to mail in proof that you graduated from hunter safety and receive back a letter of exemption that you didn't take it in Hawaii in order to get tags and a license, you cant just show up with AZ hunters ed card. Also you have to check your firearm in with the local police department upon arrival.

I love my Dyna king vice. Great deal. The hook holding power of a Dyna king vice is the best. Much better than anything else I have ever tied with. Is that the Dyna king brand accessory light?

My kids liked the international wildlife museum, titan missile silo, and Sonoran desert museum. If you like old westerns Old Tucson used to be fun, looks like they just reopened after being closed for two years. For food we like sonoran dogs at El Guerro Canelo, sandwiches at Barrio Charo, Amy's Donuts, and breakfast burritos at Barista Del Barrio.

I will take a case. PM sent. Thanks for passing on the great deal.

Turkeys will either love decoys or hate them. I have had decoys ruin several hunts when it sends them running in the opposite direction. I am a caller and like calling turkeys and having them come looking for me and don’t use decoys much. Out of around 50 turkeys I have harvested 5 or less have been with decoys. The main situation I find myself using them is if I am hunting a real open area with lots of large meadows where you can see for hundreds of yards, or if I am out of state restricted to only a small section of private land. Pricing on decoys is just like everything else and is out of control $$$. I you really think you want one or two in my opinion the best ones are 1. DSD (Dave Smith Decoys) 2. Deception decoys 3. Avain-x decoys.

You can buy a full body mount listed in the classified on this site. Looks like it is still available and I don't think you will find a full cape any cheaper. Even looks like the seller is in Show Low same as you. https://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/108232-desert-bighorn-sheep-mount-for-sale/

Did you put in for a unit with less than 5 tags or are you a non resident?
-
I would have thought you would have drawn 34A but in looking at the report two applicants on the first hunt should have had 1 more point than you. If you would have applied for the second hunt in 34A it would have been between you and one other guy with the same number of points, 50% chance of drawing. I helped relocate some birds into 34A 10 to 15 years ago.
-
So you had 24 points and didn't get charged? Did you apply for 29 first and second hunts?
-
Last spring the bonus pass tags went to 24 & 25 point holders in 29. There were 5 applicants with 23 points who didn't get bonus pass tags that would have 25 points this year if they didn't draw in the first and second pass last year. I would guess the bonus pass tags should go to 25 point holders this year.

I went through the same thing last spring looking for good youth camo (not much available on the market). I ended up getting leaf camo on Amazon to go over the top of whatever clothes my son wanted to wear. Both of us were pleased with our purchase and it worked great on the spring turkey hunt. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07XJ1W72M/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2RGTFZ393WZ6G&psc=1

I will be next in line if he changes his mind. Great deal.

Learn to reel lefty. In fly fishing it's a big advantage not having to switch hands between casting and reeling. I prefer lefty now after making the switch years ago.
-
Congratulations on a nice Gould's. Glad to see your son was able to join you on the hunt.
-
If and when they do increase the tag numbers I think it will be with an added third or fourth hunt to keep the number of hunters in the field at one time down to avoid conflicts between hunters. There are a lot birds but they are concentrated in fewer areas.

Should be the 14th. Its always the second Tuesday.

Got offered goulds tag again from game and fish
Little Creek Calls replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Turkeys!
Here is my new mouth call model for your hunt. It is a 3 1/2 reed call with a ghost cut. I named it Maverick after the ghost town on the Apache reservation. I used it this year and was really impressed with how good it sounded all day. -
Congratulations on a Nice bird. From the look of his spurs I would guess he is a 4 year old bird. Sharp and long. Well done.
-
What up next Rio's or Osceola's?
-
Personally I would pass on a turkey like that. To me it looks like an escaped farm raised butterball even if it is a true albino. I just like the looks of each subspecies of the wild turkey. The chocolate tipped tail feathers of the eastern, almost black wings of the Osceola, tan tipped feathers and long spurs of a rio, lighter tipped fan and thick feathers of a Merriam's, and the white tipped fan and large size of the Gould's.

Take the tag. I will send you a new mouth call I just finished developing this year that you can use on your hunt. I think it sounds great. Send me a PM if your address if you want the call.
