Coconino is changing their laws/rules soon and closing some roads to quads. I dont get why they bother if they cant even keep quads on the roads.

We went in 6A in the southernpart of the rattlesnake quiet area just west of stoneman lake. The bulls were there for hunting season Saw a few recent skulls with antlers cut out but they are not there right now. Maybe they are in the flats or further north... If i knew i would have me that Brown shed.

Ok so I am going shed hunting in the morning bright and early. I am leaving from East Mesa. Anyone want to share a ride? I am on a quest to find my first brown shed... you could also message me your secret location.. hahaha. but really my spots havent been working out.

Sounds like your day was better than mine. we had to come home early because my friend pulled his groin. We hikes 4 hours, 2 hours at a slow pace in good country but no sheds. NO people tracks but way less sign than i expected. and I hate hiking 4 miles and finding a road when you get in. Still on my quest for my first brown shed.....

good job!!! I still need my first brown shed ever... Maybe on Friday. 4th day out has got to be my lucky one....

Ok I was out with my family looking for wildlife on Stoneman Lake road off I-17 on Monday. We saw lots of animals including a heard of elk 150 strong. No bulls. Is this normal for this time of year or have they just dropped the antlers already? I didn’t look to close for bulls with no antlers because i saw a 20+ herd of deer with 2 bucks in it. But really 150 elk and not a spike that I could find.... What do you all know about elk and their winter/spring habits? Do the bulls leave the heard? Any Browns found yet? This is one of the bucks I saw that day.

Ok I was out with my brother metal detecting for gold when we found an item in the road. if you lost something while riding a quad or what ever between Bumblebee and Cleater let me know and I will meet with you to return it. its worth about $800 so if you lost it you be able to send me a description.

Ok, I am going shed hunting this weekend. I have a couple plans but have not settled in on a set destination. I also have a cousin that said he wants to go. The thing is that he is flaky and probably will back out on me at the last minute. I would like to go with someone for good conversation and maybe make a few shed hunting trips this spring. I live in Mesa and plan on leaving early Friday morning. If anyone wants to go put some miles on their boots with me lets me know. I am always willing to hear some good ideas about where to go as well. I was thinking around about going up around Young or on Anderson Mesa by Lake Mary. Brian 623 693-3205

I have a week off starting the 18th. I hope I can find a few browns. To bad the forest roads are all closed around flagstaff. I found 3 antlers in an hour last year in june but all were hard white. Wish I had more time that trip.

forgot to upload the picture

I plan on my first outing in a couple of weeks. if they havent dropped maybe i will find some still being carried around and get a few pictures with my canon. sooner or later you will see fresh sheds or a bull with one horn and then you will know its time to get serious.

My Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Brothers friend have rifle bull tags for unit 10 starting tomorrow. here are some bulls we saw this week scouting. got lucky and had my Canon XTI out and ready and shot some pics of this 6x6 when he ran across the road. We also glassed up a really nice bull in shooting range.... 650 yards. The Rem Ultra mag would have done the job but my Canon got it done for the scouting trip. I wish i was on that ticket. my dad saw bulls in a good glassing spot every morning... I could only be there 1 day and I saw 5 bulls that day . One morning they found 7 bulls in the canyon they plan on glassing for the morning hunt.

The hunt was a good time despite the Artic cat Prowler breaking down on us twice and not seeing a buck with more than forks. We had fun glassing up doe and spikes and walking back to the truck.... Anyway I found this set of coues antlers when I got up from glassing. Just sitting next to eachother about 10 feet behind me. Both have drop tines but one sides about 4 inches long.

Took my 14 year old brother inlaw on the unit 27 Jr. Hunt this year and had a blast. We didnt bring home a buck but I gave him every chance possible. He shot and missed 9 times... Sunday morning the 3rd day of the hunt I glasses up a 4x4 muley checking out a bunch of does and made a game plan. well on our way to a down the ridge on our way to get a shot I looked up and saw this buck with a spike coming down from where I saw him going to where we thought we could shoot. He walked down and accross the ridge across from us getting closer with every step. We let him get to about 200 yards and my brother inlaw got set and fired. That buck jumped 3 feet in the air if an inch but only moved about 10 yards. he shot again and the buck Kicked his back 2 feet in the air. still only moving a little ways down the ridge getting even a little closer to us. At this point I told him to move over to a tree and use a branch because the sitting stance wasnt working out. He ended up shooting twice more before running out of shells in his gun and that buck walked down the ridge and out of site not a hurry in the world. I wish i had brought some shooting sticks or something to help him keep that gun from shaking all over the mountain side when he saw how nice that buck was.
