TAM- nice buck and good job changing your hunting plans at the time of the hunt. As for the lady at the checkstation, I worked with her alot this past summer, really nice lady and she handles those gut piles like bags of roses, on the jr hunt we loaded up 141 gut piles in garbage bags in the back of her truck...not very many people take pride in their job as much as she does. Anyways congrats on your buck, it sure is a dandy one!

Yeah I'm a senior this year, will graduate in May, only took 4 years. I've been working with AZGFD and hope to end up working with them when I graduate. Once again congrats on the bull. That's some luck right there he got called up and asked if he wanted a tag.

we saw 15 bucks and 14 does, we saw those bucks 23 times in 3 days of hunting, bucks typically live in rougher country than does in my opinion so look around ya and head for the nasty country instead. We didn't see any does where the bucks were, goodluck

New B&C World Record Coues
elkhunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've thought about this before, I'd keep it quiet and put my house in full protection mode, I would NOT take the rack to a taxidermist because others will be able to see it. I wouldnt write up a magazine article, just put it on the wall and enjoy the success of another hunting season. I would avoid all the publicity...I'd leave all that publicity for hollywood folks. Good topic -
I was working with Game and Fish at Jacob Lake station this past wkn, I'm sure I saw you guys around, seems like everyone had a great time up there and thanks to ADA for the free food as well!

Someone said about 4000 people screw up their payments and application info. It's possible all tags were taken before you got drawn and gave you your second choice and then some of those people who drew your 1st choice got application denied or payment problems and that's how they get those leftover tags, they put em back after application problems

How did you guys do in 6A?
elkhunter replied to Bucks_N_Yotes's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I was out there with a buddy who has a dec tag before the oct season started, found 2 small bucks, and this past weekend I was out there again...alot of pressure, we saw elk and bighorn sheep but no deer, every hunter on the road flagged me down to ask if I've seen any bucks, seemed like a hard hunt to do -

It was a fun hunt, I glassed up my buck opening day after losing 5 other bucks that went over the hill, he was bedded down under a tree, nice and snug, the deal was for my dad to shoot the first buck but after he saw how nice this buck was he told me I could take him. 333 yard shot and the buck laid his head down, Younghunter and I scored him at 109 3/8. Biggest one yet. Over the next couple of days and 23 bucks later, one finally gave my dad an opportunity to shoot and my dad hit the buck twice at 220 and 250 yards, his buck scores 81 even with a broken tine. This is his first coues buck after a couple years of chasing them. See my buck here See my buck dead here Thanks to Dad and my sister My dad's buck It was a fun hunt, all bucks bedded by 8am made it for some tough huntin

What caliber do you use and why?
elkhunter replied to stalkincoues's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
.300 win mag, it's killed 5 bucks now and all of em dropped in it's tracks or simply laid it's head down, I know it's an overkill but I feel great knowing the deer oughta drop in it's tracks when it's hit...I dislike tracking -

Some people wanted to see a comparison of my last two bucks, just finished boiling the skull The buck on the left is 102' from last year and the one on the right is the 109 3/8 from this year, the main difference between these bucks is the mass
