elkhunter replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Coosefan, I have the same scope as you do but it's topped on a .300winmag. I dialed mine in at 200 yards and got 2inch group at 300yds, I'm usually not a great shot at that distance so it really blew my hat off how well they were hitting. Have you tried it outside of 300 yds yet? It's darn well right on to 500 yards, it's seems unreal how well the scope works, glad you like it too. -
Yeah custom made is what you need, seems like the hats available today are made in MASS production and are all the same...they need more variety
-
You must have a weird head like I do, I bought a felt hat that looked best on me and steamed it with an Iron and water into a custom shape and fit, might be a plan B if you can't find a custom hat tailor

In the "How to hunt coues deer" book by Duayne Adams, he recommended .300 win since you won't want to track coues in the desert and has less trajectory change when there's wind. I would feel more comfortable with the .300 knowing it'll knock em over their butt but every caliber kills coues dead above .243

Critters be falling left and right infront of you from now on Congrats on the kill, arch pig is always an adventure

How to keep eyepiece covers on Swarv 15x56s?
elkhunter replied to Billinsd's topic in Optics and tripods
I used the neck strap and then duct taped the strap a little bit so they don't roll all the way down, my dad uses these string leathers long enough for the covers to drop down below his chin when he takes em off. The idea of not using a rainguard on swaros makes me CRINGE! -
Thanks for the information.

Anyone have experiece with these binoculars, Fujinon HB 15x60 Binocular? I can't find a local dealership that carries these around here so looking for someone who has used them, how do you compare them to Zeiss Conquest 15x45? According to the information and twilight factor and etc, the fujinon seems a tad better than zeiss, these will be a birthday gift to a family member, fill me in.

boycott the harvest survey post card!!!!
elkhunter replied to bowsniper's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The point is that the game and fish department really needs the information, they run pretty much seperate from the comission, your hunt cards may not be relevant to the commission but it is extremely important to the wardens in knowing how the hunt went, the commission can choose to listen or ignore them but do it because the people who documents the hunt cards do care and they need to know whats going on with the unit/hunts. Recently a new commission has been formed and it seems like they're money lovers and don't give a care bout hunt quality, many people are upset with the commission but don't let the commission ruin your help/effort towards the wardens who truly do their best do maintain good hunting -
boycott the harvest survey post card!!!!
elkhunter replied to bowsniper's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
You guys need to understand that the game and fish employees do care it's just that the commission makes the final decisions, i don't know why the commission doesn't follow suggestions from game and fish officers but those harvest papers really help them out with maintaining hunt numbers and success -
