Parker canyon lake is on fire for trout now. Kinda boring, land 6 fish in 30 minutes, gotta figure out what to do for the rest of the day.

15 consecutive archery javvy for pops- #35 and #36 javvy for pops and I since 2000- Hope your recovery is a good one -
We have not seen them do their usual behavior of coming up on hillsides- we're finding them in the bottom and feeding on shaded oak hill sides. Too warm for normal javelina behavior.

A student of mine harvested a muzzy cow, said it was a hard hunt locating them in the pines, as warm as it has been not many elk has moved to lower country yet. Water seemed to be the key. They saw several bulls but struggled finding cows.

Exit was upper shoulder as you see in pictures above, he was quartering away and the entrance was as good as you can have it (see below) All blood came out of the entrance wound on this buck.

Fiance had her first big game hunt in Feb, she smoked a javi and shortly after wanted to get a crack at a coues hunt. We spent time shooting, reloading, practicing all scenarios. Pulled a few overnight camping trips scouting and found bucks she'd love to bring home. Opening day at first light- this buck was on the hit list and was hanging out in the saddle we seen him in during scouting, he was roughly a mile out. We began the stalk when he settled on a barrel cactus eating the fruits. We crested a hill and it was 370 yards and no way to get closer. Nothing but loose rocks and cat claw between us and the buck. I told her we'll have to shoot from here and do everything we've been practicing when out shooting. She was cold blooded, got the rifle set up, took her time and said I'm ready, after the crack the buck hunched up went down 10 yards and piled up. It was a fun hunt in a new unit!

I use it, hornady sst 130 grain- it has dropped 4 coues bucks for 3 hunters now at 115, 370, 444 and 602 yards. For me it's scary accurate, I get the magnum results on impact but recoil of the standard non-magnum rifles. I love the caliber and reloading has been a charm for me.
