Wow, the year I was born... My Father was 3 years old that year..

Depends on what youre trying to do but its a whole lot simpler than people make it out to be. If you're trying to drop some pounds and get in shape before your hunt you need to be consuming less calories than you burn each day.. That could mean running miles a day because you REALLY like to eat or hiking with some weight on your back because you dont have a problem eating a little less. The easiest way to do it is count the amount of calories you eat a day, theres plenty of websites/phone apps that make it VERY easy to track. So you really wouldnt need to change your diet at all, it would just mean burning more calories at the gym/track etc. and you dont need to be eating something like a salad every meal to lose weight like most people think. I can go more in depth if you'd like but what it all boils down to is Calories IN vs. Calories OUT

This this this I enjoy hunting like this, but it all depends The size of the animal I am willing to harvest each year depends on the unit, the time of year, the weather, the amount of time I have to scout, the amount of time I have to hunt, who I am hunting with (I will shoot a 70'' buck if it means my 7 y/o brother gets to share the experience with me before I shoot a 100'' buck by myself) But Im glad there are people like Becker out there so Ive got pictures to look at and dream about

The young bull with good fronts could be REAL big in a couple years, sweet spot

Yeah the pictures might not do mine justice, but Im hoping for others to put up some of theirs to guess on, elk would be fun too

I know we've had guess the score threads on the site before but I think it would be cool to have a thread where people posted pictures of bucks they know the official score of, big or small. I always enjoy practicing my field judging whenever I get the chance. And if anyone has any tips or tricks they wanna throw in that would be cool too. I'll start it off with my 2010 buck and 2011 buck. I'll help out with spread since they're angled pictures. 2010 buck, above average width 2011 buck, below average width GO Both officially scored. Top buck is 95 1/8 Bottom buck is 95 6/8 I put both scores above this ^^ so to see the answer just click and drag across the area and it will be highlighted. DONT QUOTE THIS POST it might show the scores

I dont have the exact measurements anymore, but the top buck was 15 and change and the bottom was 12 or 13 Gross always Hahahahahaha

I think good main beams and good eye guards should put him closer to 100 than he looks

Wow thats awesome Ive always wanted to try something like this.. What would be the best way to set one of these up but to keep cattle out of it? Would a small fence, jumpable by deer obviously, work? or would a short fence even be legal lol -
Well first of all welcome to the site, second of all where about are you wanting to go? Any specific units?

Those things are SWEET!

Started off the trip right picking up a small brown 6 point from the truck (In a hurry, no pics lol) Picked up a year or two old nice 6 and my dad picked up a big brown 6 that kinda looked like the same bull On the way to our afternoon loop my Dad spotted this somehow from the truck Evening walk was slow, I only picked a small white busted off after the sword and Dad came back empty handed The next morning was a LOONNGG walk and I got skunked, but my Dad picked up a hard white broken 6 point and my uncle showed up half way through and picked up the other side lol We went on a mini mid afternoon walk and came back with nothing.. We started the second walk of the afternoon around 4 pm and things were looking as bad as the last 2 loops with boot tracks everywhere.. I ventured down into a big canyon and things got interesting Picked up a decent hard white 5 point, hard to see the g2 and 3 Walked around the side of the small ridge and there was the match! This side had 6 with the 5 broken off, but I was stoked! Found the first shed around 5 pm, I coulda quit here and been satisfied with the walk, but I kept side hilling these small ridges and a few hundred yards later I ran into a brown! A small six in the bag and I was stoked, but I kept going back and forth looking for the match on the same ridge, covered in elk sign and I ran into this... thing! Not the biggest shed in the world, but a match to my 6 point and you cant beat the character! Riding on cloud 9 with 2 sets in the pack already I kept gridding these small ridges and ran into another!!!! A real nice chunk of brown bone, 6 pm now with 5 sheds in pack it was time to head back to the truck. I didnt get a half mile from the truck before I heard my uncle losing his mind! He had picked up a toad brownie across the road from where I was I'll try to get a better pic but its the one with the split g5, Dad got skunked looking for the other side to his brown six from the day before Next morning we moved to a different spot and it was my Dad's turn, my uncle picked up a 5 point brown and I picked a broken brown Few hours go by with nothing exciting and I get a call from my uncle that my Dad picked up a BIG brown 6, the one left of my uncles split g5 in the pic above, figured its around 8'' smaller than the one my uncle picked up, both huge, bad pictures dont do them much justice All in all it was a great 2 and a half days, but we were beat. Heres the hall for the weekend Hope you made it this far lol thanks for looking

Thanks man +1 on the boot tracks... ran into quite a few last weekend, but we were able to pick up quite a few when we could get away from them

Well Joelpresmyk8 decided to take me into a spot he had found a couple browns this year today. Started at sun up and he had 1 decent 6 point and a smaller shed before 8 am. The day was draggin on by 1 pm with no more sheds, compounded by the fact I didnt bring enough water. Well around 1:15 we made a random decision to walk out to the edge of this canyon.. Soon as we get to the edge we hear something crashing out of its bed down below us. I took off down there maybe 50 yards to try and catch a glimpse, of course im dreamin of it being a big bull knockin his sheds off as he crashes through some brush.. I walk around a bush.. AND IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Just like you imagine in your head, it happened. I see the first shed and start hoopin and hollerin while Joels telling me to wait to get it on camera, we walk down there and the other side is 20 yards away!! A little bit of brush kept us from watching a sweet bull shed both his horns right in front of us. Had to sit down and make sure I wasn't hallucinating from dehydration for a few minutes, don't think I'll ever top this in my life. Joel has most the pictures but I'll post what I got till one of us can. The bases were literally wet from whatever liquid is under their pedicles. View from the first shed View from the second back to the first More Pics 6'3'' for reference
