Opening morning we were a little late getting out(Thanks most in part to a red nissan frontier on a VERY rough road that would not let us pass). We still saw three does, a spike, and two 3 small points I decided to pass on. Didn't have much time for the afternoon hunt and tried an area we've never been to, only saw a small 2 point. Day two we were about 10 minutes late getting out and had a loooong hike up to where we wanted to glass from. On the way up my Dad decided I should go ahead and get behind the glass sooner. Once I reached the top, no sooner had I sat down I heard something walking 30 yards down below me. I figured somehow he had caught up to me until I looked down and a doe walks out, not a clue I was there until I turned a bit. Ears went back, tail went up, and she was gone. Good start to the morning I figured. About 10 minutes later my Dad calls me on the phone and tells me he has 2 bucks spotted down the ridge I was on. I walked down a couple hundred yards, saw my Dad, then peeked over this rock out cropping and they already knew I was there. Threw the glasses up real quick and saw one was a small 2 point and the other a decent 2x3, still, I decided to let him walk. The rest of the morning was rather uneventful, only spotted a few more does. After a couple nap's we moved down ridge and started glassing again at about 3 pm. After about 15 minutes my Dad says he's got a nice buck spotted down in the bottom. I swung the bino's around to take a look and after a couple minutes I decided this was about the size of buck I was after. We decided it was about 600 yards down to the bottom, so I got set up with a steady rest and waited for him to turn. BOOOOM the first shot missed left but good height. The buck kinda jumped back and decided to walk behind a tree below him. After a few minutes he came back out, he was quartered away when I decided to shoot again. I held further back on him this time and BOOM I missed just left of his front shoulder, he jumped back behind the same tree. He finally came back out below the tree, slightly quartered to us I held farther back once again and BOOM the .270 wsm did its job, he was dead where he stood. We made the looong hike down and decided he was a little bigger than expected, without putting a tape to him yet, we think he should go right around 93". Oh and I glassed up an elk shed I didnt get to pick up on the way out as originally planned >.<

Badlands has the best warranty/customer service for a reason.. The zippers and straps break too often not to.. I think Eberlestock packs are the most comfortable packs out there.. Havent bought one yet, but my next pack will be the Horn Hunter Full Curl, check em out

Easiest thing to do this time of year will be to find some water with a reasonable amount of tracks and set up a pop-up blind or build your own blind and....... wait.
