  1. To be honest this camera was the cheapest one that Sportsman's Wherehouse had that still had a camo pattern. The higher end cameras do take better pictures, and the digital ones are amazing! But I would feel better about my $80 camera being stolen than if it was a $400 digital one. These pics also look really rough after I scanned them, but I'm still trying to figure out how to use the scanner. In real life the pictures look like anyother 35mm camera picture. Oh yeah, these are from unit 5B (not North or south, Just 5B that little spot North of Kinikinik lake sp?)
  2. deer = 0 (always been drawn for last seven years ) Elk = 0 (had 1 last year) Antalope = 0 (never put in) Bear = 0 (Never put in) Buff =0 (never WILL put in, because they won't take my soul for payment )
  3. I wish you would have posted this a month ago. I traded my drop away for a Whisker Biscuit. On my bow, the rest was much too springy and over half the time would conntact the arrow again coming up. This would cause the arrow to dance and hit the target at weired angles. We put it on my buddies bow, and it has yet to do it. BTW yes it had the downward pulling spring.

    DRAW TIME!!!

I'm going to try my hand at an archery Bull again. If not, I'll have a rifle choice in the 2nd. Then a rifle hunt for coues, I'm not crazy enough to try with a bow.

  6. I was invited to do a 3D shoot this up coming weekend in Flag. So last weekend I went to pick up my trail camera (I got a few good leads for later this year ) anyways I strapped my bow to the back of the bike wrapped in a canvas bag. But after hiking around for a while, shooting random things with the "you-shoot-I-shoot" arrow I headed back to camp. On the way I lost the bag, and the bow gathered all the dirt on the way home. I ussually keep my equipment clean, but now it's the worse it has ever been. What is the right way to clean my compound bow, with out doing too much damage. And where, if any, should I oil.

    Cleaning a Bow

Thanks for all the help guys! Keep them coming. I never have been fond of lubing stuff that doesn't (or shouldn't) need it. But thanks for the extra effort to get my attention galiuro mountain man, that could have gotten messy. I think I'll press my bow, and check the cams right now, as I just noticed a small nick in the lower one. I hope it's nothing, it would be a shame to have to break in a new string! LOL

    Cleaning a Bow

Thanks guys. The reson I have it on the back is that I have never trusted my bows in the gun/bow racks. So I strap it to the large cargo bag on the back. That way it has a nice soft bag to rest on instead of the hard rubber and metal. Red Rabbit, I guess that is the shoot. I just got called, and he said that I had to be at Flag. on Thursday night to get everything ready for Saturday, and to only bring what I needed to shoot.

    Cleaning a Bow

Well I have heard that WD40 can be used on cams to lube them, but wasn't sure if there was a better product out there. I called a shop and the guy said what he would do was to clean all the dirt off it as much as possible, then wipe it with a wet rag. I took it one step further and drew it back with my foot, and cleaned the channel that the string sits in on the cam to make sure everything would work. If anyone else has some 411 on cleanig please post it, it would help a lote.
  10. I agree, those are really cool! I never thought I would see three lions in the same pic.

    Fire near Bartlett

This isn't saying much, but as I came home on 87 last night, I could clearly see the flames. They lit up the entire hill side just about.
  12. LOL I wonder what he was thinking? Maybe he was a movie star who hated photographers in a past life. My sisters boyfriend was out fishing one day, and afterwards decided to drop off his trail camera at one of his favorite spots. He forgot to wash his hands, and also found his camera chewed on. It was later burned to a crisp when the unit North of 22 burned last summer.
  13. Naw, but I'm just about ready to go pay $.50 to use the parks pay-perpveiw telescope to help glass for them. That bull was shot up in Northern Arizona.
  14. Okay I think that AZ has given the no on permanent tree stands that are errected in trees. Is this right? Are there exceptions? The reason I ask is that I have a couple great spots in one of my "I hope" units. The problem is that a blind is out of the question, and the trees arn't very tall, or straight enough for a normal tree stand. The area is very hot for most of the year, and is an isolated grove of trees and bushes out on a large open meadow. Last weekend I found a platform that was built in one of the larger trees. I got into it, and realized that it was in a perfect spot, about 10 yards from the main trail. It needs some work, and maybe some new flooring to get rid of the broken pieces, but I like it. Is is against the law to fix one of these up to use later?

    same old unit?

Thanks couesdiehard, I would hate to find out that one of my hunts is now farther back, or sooner.

    same old unit?

Any idea when the actual papers come out? I hate having to scroll through the on-line one. But as for me, I think I'll stay in my same old units for elk and deer. Why change a good thing, right?
  17. It could be both. In fact I took this little guy last year in the same spot with my bow but that was just plain stupid luck of falling asleep, and waking up at the right time. Think of it as an oasis. There is a huge meadow area, then one large area (about 50 yards square) with a kind of doughnut of trees, and shrubs that surround yet another bedding area. For some reason, they only bed there at around 10 o'clock, and are out of there around 12 or so. The rest of the time they are out walking in an aimless direction. I have yet to see a pattern of where they go, except to the little oasis. I guess one could set up on the edge, and take a rifle shot as they came across the meadow towards the shooter.
  18. naw, I've scouted this spot for three years now, and only got drawn for it last year. This will be (is) the fourth year that it is completly torn up with sign, and each time I go in there, I tend to run something out of there. I hope I get drawn for it again this year!
  19. Yeah that's what I figured, but wanted to ask to make sure. So I guess I'll be removing someone elses old wood this weekend if I want to hunt that area, or should I just leave it there.
  20. Yeah from about turkey season on, my camera is out there... somewhere. But as the season gets closer, the chain gets bigger, and the trees thicker, and the lock gets stronger too. I was so stupid for only mounting it with the included nylon strap.
  21. I have my trail camera set up way back in 5B North about 200 yards off of the road or so. I thought I had hid it well enough, to the point I had to leave a note in my log as to how many clearing I crossed to get there. Anyways, I guess a strong wind came along, and the strong tree it was on, decided to lay down. So when I went to find my pictures, I found my camera gone. I then looked over and saw it on another tree. When I opened the cover a small note card fell out. It read as follows... I was shocked that another person, way out in the middle of no where, found a camera laying next to a tree; and instead of putting it in their pack, they hung it back up with a note. I got really lucky this time, but am off again this weekend to put it in the same area, as I got a bunch of shadow photos as the sun set on the fallen tree.
  22. Hmm that's not a bad idea. I know there are no animals in 5B, but I was hoping to catch some pictures of the famous group of nesting birds that made the GFD run all the animals out into 22. So far I have a very nice roll of film of two hands, an ear, a couple birds, a rat looking thing, and a bunch of shadows. I'll try again this next weekend. I'll only get to be up there for Sunday, as I have a showing of my jeep at the Pavilions on Sat. night. I hope that I can get some good photos of something this weekend, as I'm about to go crazy from lack of hunting. I have been bathing in scent lock for the last week now.
  23. I wish I would have gotten one good shot of him, but all I got was two of his hand, and one of his ear. Oh well, I hope he has a great hunting season, and pray he bags a new state record for his actions.

    Big Elk

Great job! One of my old teachers found a nice pair up in that same unit if I remember right. He had them mounted, and they hung in his class, he was a great guy.
  25. From what I have found on these pics are one of two things... The guy who got shot was sitting behind the target. Someone shot, and hit him. He did live, and now has a metal plate in the back of his head. The other was that he fell on his own broadhead.
