Great job! When can we expect the long story, about how you had to cross the river at the class 5 rapids (in reality it was a stagnat stream ) only to be faced with a shear cliff face that layed between you, and the pig? LOL Once again, great job!

I scouted the coke ovens on Saturday, and didn't see a gosh darn thing I liked. I then scouted around Arizona City today, and saw some nice pig country, but much too flat for any real glassing. I have my fingers crossed for another archery Elk tag in 5B north (or south since I hunt the border anyways) But besides that, I'm enjoying a little break.

At least it wasn't a Coues

It looks like some Halloween prop. I wish I could learn to find neat stuff like that, but when ever I do it seems like Op. Game theif comes before I come back and snags them up. -
I just plugged that into my AZ TOPO program, and it seems it's right where I need to be! Thanks so much, you just saved me the long hike to them. You are a life saver, thanks again every one.

Do any of you guys have the coordinates for the Coke Ovens near the Gila River? I was given directions on where to do some final scouting for Javilina, and was given the Coke Ovens as my starting point. I'm trying to print out a TOPO map of the area, and only want the surounding mountains. The only problem is I accidently erased them off of my GPS Any help would be great

oh that wold suck! I'm passing it on...

Thanks anyways. I'm not real familiar with the area, but have been up there since the day we found out we were drawn. But for some reason the guy decidd to give me directions starting at oven #3. When it's all said and done I should be near a mine to the East of them. I think I know where the heck I'm going, but would like to get a topo map showing any saddles that may be between the ovens, and where I'm supose to stop.

Sounds great! I'll have to check my calendar for the fifth, but as far as I know it's as free as a whale named Willy. -
nice site, I like how you put all the "important" links in one spot! Thanks BTW I picked Elk

ugh, why would you shoot it then!?! I can barely eat the meat they provide as it is!

*shivers* that things eye in the first pic gives me the creeps That thing is a monster, no way I would have tried to take it with a pistol, if I had my choice a .50BMG might have calmed my nerves a bit. Just look at the scoop bend in the middle from all the weight

lion & deer trail cam pics?

That is a shame though, as I have seen some pics of Elk that I would swear were photoshopped, except they came off of my 35mm game camera. Another time I got banned from another hunting site for posting a pic of the huge herd of Elk that live in Mormon Lake (yes IN, it's empty). They had their "experts" determine that it was a heard of about 15 or so, and I photoshopped it to the estimated 500. What ever...anyone who has hunted up there knows that they are for real. -
Just think of the look on your neighbor's face when they come home late at night, only to find some one has field dressed their deer! BTW this WILL be in our yard this year

Where do you guys get your strings? I just received a Ben Pearson, cougar, and would like to get a new string to get ready for some bow fishing.

I'm not trying to prove anything (I want to believe that they are real) I'm just posting the pics as they appeared when the original link was posted here on this site. I guess the guys on the other site were just trying to prove that it was a photoshop, but the elk threw us all off. -
Getting ready for Christmas '05?

Maybe a use for those un filled tags? -
Thanks, I live in Chandler, but if they are as good as you say they are I might have to make the trip. I'm getting sick of all the local shops around here talking down to everyone about every little thing you do.

too late! I'll have to hike another two miles to shed those pounds those samoa's are going to put on me.

for some reason the original post here had a link back to another site. That link no longer works Let me see what I can find.... -
I second that, maybe a "Shoot, don't shoot" quiz. Have it give you only a few seconds to make your choice

LMAO I was heading to the top of a hill behind our camp, when their truck came in. So I droped below the skyline, and sat down so they couldn't easily notice me. That when they started walking around like it was their camp. I called my buddy on the radio, and asked if he was expecting people to show up. He said noone knew where we were, but would start back just in case. I can only imagine what they would have done if I did that to their camp.
-
I don't know if any of you guys saw our camp in 22 or not, but the road was so bad that my 4X4 wouldn't make it. So I had to pack all our gear back to where we were going to camp. After that... the quad didn't move at all after the hunt was over I couldn't believe that I still had a topped off tank, as I ussually use it to get back near the lake. Anywho we had two different trucks come in, and park IN our camp. They parked closer to our tent then I did when I did get my truck back there. One guy decided that my big red quad would make a great footrest as he tied his boots! If I would have had a rifle with me I think I might have put one about ten foot over his head. What is with these people? Do they have no common sense, or do they just not care? I would never use someone elses camp to park my truck. BTW I don't road hunt. I like to find the little things that are always way off the road
