In case anyone isn't familiar with these. They are first rate. No offense to the new models but these are much better glass in my opinion. I have them in 10x50 and they are very clear and bright. Good to edges

  8. Ok I posted a funny post in other hunting gear of how I got this quad. I have cleaned up and ridden in the desert by my house. It works great but there are some logistical issues I have it posted on craigslist with lots of pics I will just post the one pic here but check out other pics on Craigs. Details below It's a Roketa 400 4x4. Here is craigslist id. 4618728714 This is an very good running used ATV. Yes it is a Roketa which is a Chinese copy of a Yamaha Grizzly I've been told. Read through this post for all details The good: Except for the seat it is cosmetically clean and in very good condition Tires are like new. They appear to be originals which indicates the low miles and use Electric start And pull start both work well the quad fires right up with no issue Doesn't smoke or burn oil No leaks Oil clean Fully street legal brake light works turn signals work horn works hi beam lights work Front disc brake rear drum Adjustable suspension Shaft drive 4x4 engages fine and light shows 4x4 Has reverse and it works fine Speedometer works and gear selection works Has push bar and front and rear metal racks Has tow hitch and ball Oil cooled with temp light Brakes in good condition The bad: Seat is bad. I bought some marine fabric and may recover it One head light is out but works on hi beam The odometer is digital and it's scrambled I have no idea on miles or hours The fan on the radiator had not come on yet. The temp light has not turned on either but I'm afraid the fan switch may be bad because all fuses are good. You can by pass the switch and just run it direct so fan is always on. It may work fine and just not got hot enough yet i just want full disclose any possible negative So I researched this and called a shop in phoenix who works on theses. He said they are actually decent quads they are like the Coleman's you see at Cabelas which are also Chinese made He gets parts no problem I have seen them on the web new from $4400 to $5700 Model Roketa RTU 400y No it's not a Polaris Yamaha Suzuki or Honda or Article Cat So I got this from a good friend i hunt with who's brother owned this and three others. The brother just died and left everything to his nephew who lives in MN. He can't find the title. It has not been titled or licensed and it never left his private property in north Scottsdale. I think it has very low miles but was outside and the sun cooked the seat So I have called MVD and this is the process to get it titled. I was going to do it but the they said it will cause more problems for the new owner if I sell in three years So you take to MVD for a level one inspect. It's free and they check vin and value Then you complete an bonded title app and explain how you got the quad. I will give you a letter too with the original owner name. At that time you can get a temp title for 90 days until registered letter comes back then you really title Then you mail certified letter to listed owner and when it comes back non delivered or accepted you post a bond for three years. The bond cost around $100. Maybe less maybe a bit more. The bond protects MVD in case an owner appears and claims the quad the MVD pays him the value from the bond. You don't lose the quad. The owner is coming back from the dead in this case. So there will be some leg with and it will cost you $100 to maybe $200 include normal license and OHV tag cost Again I could do this but I wouldn't be able to sell either for three years with the new owner doing the bonded title process again. Call MVD first and they will explain the bonded title process it's really not a big deal. Just a bummer for the leg work. Or if you use on private property you can just do nothing $1300 obo possible trade for 20 gauge semi or o/u prefer 26 in, similar value bino or scope. similar value bolt rifle

    Desert springs no tracks???

Yea I know there are deer in there. This weekend I say about 8 deer all Doe and one really young spotted fawn. Cute. I'm not to proud to admit it. One lil fork with a doe. I spent the weekend on quad checking every tank in the area all are full. I know the rancher and confirmed I hit even the hidden tanks. Very few tracks. I left a camera on one that seemed to have more promise. Will update next week.
  10. So I found two active springs that are about two miles apart in the high desert. No tanks in the area have water. There are cattle at one spring. I have checked them a few times once after the rain we had a few weeks back and no sign. No track at all. Not tracks on game trails in. No scat in the fields near except some very old. I checked the, in January too same thing but I thought they were in rut and maybe being weird. Any thoughts on my no sign? Could they simply not be using them? Or are they using and not leaving sign? I saw no cameras on either spring
  11. So some of you may have read that I was having issues with my angled arrows penetration and my anchor point. I'm a novice and bought at a big box store last year so I was struggling to get dialed in. Junior responded twice on my post saying to come down to Archery HQ and he'd help me out I was reluctant because I live all the way cross town but Junior PM'd twice and said come early I will get you straight So I did and after a quick review he identified the set up corrections that needed to be made. Confirmed draw length and draw weight and my anchor point issues. Told me to grab lunch and let him dial it in I came back and we hit the range. Junior spent plenty of time with getting my form better and my finger correctly in the release and then dialed in my sights. Needless to say my sight picture was good arrows flying well and he gave me tips to work on improving my form. Do still have a long way to go? You bet. But I practicing correctly now. Not with confusion Worth the drive. Great shop with no pressure and just passionate about the sport. Did I get a good price at the big box. Yes. However i learned that the price savings was simply foregoing the professional service that goes along with shop like Archery HQ. when I upgrade to a new bow I will spend my money at AZ HQ Thanks Junior!!! Hey Junior. Where's that secret spring you were talking about?

    Desert springs no tracks???

Well I have sen does this summer and last jan I saw one real good buck and one small 2x2 about 1/2 mile aay
  13. Good question. So my buddy said it doesn't start when he dropped it off. I AMA total quad novice so I saw pull start and thought that was the way to start it. So when I pulled it the cord didn't engage starter it just pulled out. You may have seen my ask on this site what to do. I pulled the cover of the pull start and the two spring loaded teeth were rusted so I wd40 and brushed them and they cleaned and the spring worked. I put back on and the teeth engaged starter but it didn't start. My buddy came over he knows quads and he had a micro charger. He hooked it on and as I was showing him the gauges I said whats the red button and he said the electric start you idiot. So we charged for about 2 minutes and it turned right over. It has started great ever since both electric and pull The idle was to high so we adjusted. I think I might also tighten the coils on suspension but that's just me Anyway everything is as described. I'm selling because my lovely wife is not so thrilled with it in the garage and if I could make some cash on it I have some braces on a 14 year old to pay off Ask any questions. Come test ride. I do t know much about quads but my buddy was really shocked at how solid it was and he owns three quads

    Training For Hunting Season

Crossfit has been awesome. I got a gym that has an entry level called life class so you can ease in. Its one hour and you are fried at the end. Great group workout where everyone encourages you. But you get amazing strength in legs back shoulder and abs. So humping a pack up hills is so much easier. You will climb hills like never before. Only thing i would add is some longer cardio for all day endurance because cross is more short burst high intensity Check out cross fit folks. You will love it My wife also joined and she loves it too. Dropped 25lbs in Three months and lets just say we both last a bit longer doing things we enjoy behind closed doors when the kids finally sleep. Infinite strength crossfit in scottsdale is our Box as they call it
  16. So I bought a Cuddeback Ambush black flash ir Cheap at bass pro This may seem like a moronic question but when do you decide its time to move the camera? The obvious is of course no game on camera. But this has been up only a week and it's on a spot that I saw good bucks last jan during rut hunt and saw two does last week when I hung it. But after being up for a week I have javelina pics and a skunk. Am I panicking if I move it? Archery in two weeks so while I think there is deer in this area maybe my specific location is bad It has active trail sign and scat. On kind of a choke point where game must move through By the way. The camera performed really well. Great color pic in day nice night pics and no false pics. Even with a bit of sun glare from my mistake in hanging. Good deal for $99

    Desert springs no tracks???

No I think they flow yearly. I have seen water in December and January and June through August. Less of course in June and August but I can see the underground source. One spring is pretty slow and may get dry it has more stagnant water They other is lower and hidden in a draw. You have to walk about 1/2 mile to get to it and that's after a fairly rough road gets you that close. I really thought I had found desert deer nirvana but nothing. I suppose I can set a camera to be sure. But this seems like a really safe spot for a deer to drink

First time camera guy ( my first pics) no deer

Thanks grey ghost. I really just got the camera because it was on sale and I felt like it was time to try cameras. Pics went back and bought two more. So I'm going to do as you say and place the others out in the same area. I hope to be really set up for December and January. I didn't want to set them on water because if people stealing them. But I'm trying to find routes to water and to beds But in the desert those routes are numerous. Do have any tips on staying off water and making camera effective? Thanks
  19. More like a good chip on lead edge. But come on break in a foam target. No other arrow in target at time. To bad they fly good

First time camera guy ( my first pics) no deer

Clearly I didn't point this north enough but no false pics from the sun Funny I hunted this sport for pugs with the 10 year old last spring and never saw one. Funny Hoping with the cooler weather this week deer move through

Slick trick blade broke in foam target

if i see rhino coming to my stand i'm running, or i must be hallucinating from trying to hunt the desert in Aug.

Slick trick blade broke in foam target

I hadn't thought of something else in target. it's a decent broken piece along almost the entire front edge of one of the blades, like a bite from a curved finger nail clipper. Its a four blade 100gr. Maybe it has something to do with the brick wall that my target is up agaist? Ha Kidding.
