Thanks for the feedback I hope one day soon I can say how great they did but it will.mostly likely be a report on what I did to screw up. Haha On my third year bow hunting. Hope success is soon. But even though it's so much dang fun

this is actually for Mule deer. but I have chased the same buck for the past two years. Ironically, those are my first two years bow hunting some im fully in the, "how many mistakes can I make in one day" stage. anyway, I've planned on setting salt out for the past 5 months but I was blessed to my only rifle hunt and my two sons deer hunts so between scouting and hunting I just never made it. I went back out this past weekend to scout a bit and saw the does in the same area I've seen this buck the past two years. I was wondering if its to late to put some salt our for the Rut, to keep the does in an area or if I should just not bother this year?

If you are looking for hand held bino not tripod use I'd consider 8's. Better exit pupil and FOV. I had a guy at a shop years back bet my I couldn't hardly tell the difference in magnification and he brightness clarity and low light is better. Anyway it may be bs but I love my 8's and I love the size for carry and spot and stalk

Here are the bucks we shot after a nice day in the boiling bucket. The end of a great trip

So a good buddy of mine have hunted Coues for years had a great day. Our other good friend was on the glass and the two of us on the rifle. Bucks glassed at 380 yrds and after a little adjustment we both were in shooting position. His buck stood first and after a few minutes which felt like hours it turned for him and his 270 win dropped it where it stood So the lucky or crazy part is my deer never stood up but shot like a low crawl five feet into a mesquite. Guy on the glass said sit tight all good while I tried to aquire it in scope but it was buried. First shooter got on his glass and they both calmed me down for my shot. Finally it stepped out just above some prickly pear and turned quarter to me. Good squeeze and a short stumble of 20 yrds it was buried up in a Palo dead Double down. Wow. One is hard enough and they never do what you want but they finally did My buddy Woody who shot the bigger one will read this but hasn't joined site yet. Come on Woody join the site. Haha One pic shows them in bed. One deer easy to find see if you can find the second Thx to firstcoues80 for the advice on using barnes bullet in my 257 wby

So I've been loading for less than a year but have done a fair amount of loads and have learned some but this one is new to me Why would some rounds be a bit stiffer to close the bolt? It like the bullet is jammed in the lands but I see no evidence of that And. It happens with the same type of brace that have all been run through a full size and trimmed and prepped and cleaned in the same batch. I'm very good about measuring after seating each load I haven't noticed a difference in accuracy at the range but I haven't shot enough of these to be real sure I load bolt action rifle only so far Is it he shoulder? Am I closer to the lands than I think and any small variance makes a difference? I have noticed anything odd on spent cartridge Thanks for any tips

Funny. But no beers on board. I've made enough mistakes that I find I'm best whiske avoiding beers while loading.

Call and get on a waiting list. I have three boys and one did the online and the other e day course. I took it too. Far and away the day course or weekend course was better. I know it's a bitch to get a class but call and they were great about calling me for a cancellation Best of luck

I raise the ram and then thread the die until it touches the shell holder. Then tighten. That's what I've been doing So should I lower the cam and thread a little lower? Powder trick sounds good
-
Thanks. I'll get the tool So to bump to I twist the die a little lower than just touching the shell holder when I raise the cam?

I just taped is buck and i think I'm just going to European mount it. Not quite worth the money for a mount. Thanks

I have a vanguard and I shot 100grn Tsx barnes with imr 4831 based off the barnes load data and it grouped 5 rounds inside a quarter at 100 Rl 22 was second best and I'm sure I could have dialed in a good load but I got lucky with imr 257 is super accurate and after some convincing from guys on this site I love barnes for accuracy and performance on game

Zeiss Conquest HD 15x56 vs Swarovski SLC 15x56
apache12 replied to Bassmaster's topic in Optics and tripods
Swaro. Zeiss are fine but will lose value quicker and customer services is not nearly swaro. In 10 years swaro will still fetch a good price and you can upgrade. If you must have new HD. I'd do meopta 15 hd. I did side by side with Zeiss and like the color contrast better and I think a bit brighter but that was a fairly quick side by side -
Why is c.o.l different on factory ammo than the same co. Load data?
apache12 posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
So I, loading for my sons 7mm-08 with 140 gr accubond nosler. He has a mule deer hunt soon Anyway. The factory nosler ammo is shorter significantly that what their load data calls for Same with hornady factory and load data They aren't listing as max o.a.l length but is that why there is a difference on load data. It's max length -
Order hornady Xld for next year

Has anyone seen this powder in the phx metro and surrounding area. Or online? Looking for 1 lb to try on a 7mm-08. Heard good things about it on that caliber

Used or rather carried in my pack for one hunt. Don't see myself using it In north phx

Any toyota mechanics out there? 4x4 sensor issue I think
apache12 posted a topic in Other Hunting Gear
So on my last hunt while driving back to camp in 2x4 my engine light popped and my 4lo light started blinking sling with my traction control light and the light for anti roll airbag shut off Truck drove normal. No gauges spiked but I couldn't switch into 4x4. No movement in transfer case Lights stayed on. I was to far to get to a shop and didn't want to stop my sons hunt so we were fine withou4x4 Then about 10 starts later the lights went off and 4x4 was ok Drove home All good and then the lights popped on again Same deal Drive it abot 10 starts or so and they are off I pulled the wheels and didn't see and plugs or wires off or broken I traced the wheel wires to the engine area and all connected Any thought on where or what this might be? I'm in north phx if there is a shop that thinks they can figure it out -
