Tikka t3 7mm-08. I have one my 13 (now 15) has hunted with and my 10 year shoots it. Great round. Recoil just a bit more than 243. If cow elk is a possibility don't go 243. Tikka is nice and light for her to carry to. I took it on a pig hunt in txt and simply love the rifle and caliber

So I put a new weaver super slam 2-10x42 on a standard barrel 243 bolt action. Weaver bases and one inch low weaver rings. When I look through the scope I can see the last 3 or 4 inches of the barrel
Is that unusual? I have 3 power scopes that don't do that. The scope is well clear of the barrel. I hate to put higher rings on it
Doesn't effect the reticle it's just down on the bottom of scope. I have not sighted in yet but be even with that adjustment I can't see it raising that much
By the way the scope is sweet. Very clear.

I just picked up a weaver super slam 2-10x42 ebx reticle. Natchez shooters supply has nice deals on weaver
Anyway I love vortex but I had my non shooting wife and my 17 year old son who is a hunter compare at 7:45 pm last night without telling them which was which or which was supposed to be better
No contest weaver was brighter and clearer longer. Also the reticle didn't wash out early
Again I love vortex but look for online deals on weaver. Only bummer is weight. A bit tanky. And warranty is average

Were you able to compare at low light? And was it viper HD?
Thanks

I can point you to a great breeder of French Brittany pointers. They are the original Brittany. Calm in the house and great natural pointers in the field. I own two. American brought them to e US in the 1800's and breed them with English pointers to make me bigger and more active in natural to hunt big country. Nothing wrong with American Brittany just not nearly as mellow in the house like French
French ALS hunt close. Good for foot hunter and naturally check back. As you can tell I'm a big fan of them
Here's my two they come in tri
Let me know if you want his website. I hope you hunt otherwise this may have been a waste

Yes. Sorry not sure i made that clear.
I should say trade value $300, and cash can be best offer

Would like to sell but consider trade for firearm bino or scope. These are near $1000 new but drop like a stone and value used is $300.
This is like new always inside and perfect shape. Has pull down bar leg extension set up. Strap for squat and calf work. You can do lots of exercises or just hang laundry on it like I did
Has 210lbs but can be upgraded.
I could deliver but would most likely charge $50 or so unless you live next door
Time to get fit for humping out that elk quarter

Well I went with the Vortex Viper hs. I have to admit that in the store the monarch 3 seemed every bit as bright if not more. I just couldn't get comfy with BDC circles. I didn't do minox because I can't get my hands on one first but I think from research the new series is dang good glass they just may be surrounded by poor construction
In the end the vortex warranty and company just provided lots of comfort. Not sure I'm thrilled with 30 mm tube but oh well
How do you know what height rings on a standard barrel rifle? Low I would hope
Great post advice. Really appreciate this website

I understand this level Minox uses Schott glass same company as zeiss
No love for Minox? I think the safe bet is Vortex but I would really like to see the minox side by side in low light

I know these questions generate mixed responses but they are fun and i know there are some folks on this site with good knowledge of product
So..
Is there a clear winner or simply all to close to compare between the following scopes to be used in a hunting application. Shots at 500yards and below on a non magnum rifle
I have found all of these three new or demo (thx cameralandny and swfa)
At or around $400 to $450
What's the pros and cons or best option out of
Vortex Viper hs 4x16x44 30 mm tube
Minox za5 hd 3x15x42 sf one inch tube
Nikon monarch 3 sf 4.5x16x42 one inch tube
Thanks for opinions if you own a couple of these that be great to hear what you think

One tube
Will trade for a Kimber 1911. Ha kidding

Or trade for whatever

Ok so beyond the obvious green tree signs or cuts in a mtn that would show erosion any other geological signs that you look for?
-
Ok so beating feet sounds best.

Desert bull on the site sells nice topo maps that give a few areas to glass. I usually start there and sometimes end up finding other spots I like in the area. But for $30 bucks it's a good way to start and he is excellent to work with

Go to NM. Tags are hard enough to pull for AZ residents.

So does anyone have maps or online map systems that list more springs than others?
Or are their old books that document springs?
I'm sure just beating feet and looking for green cottonwoods or sycamore trees is proven. Just lookin for some technology to get me started

Here are some pics. I now the base screws on the rings are on alternating sides but I can't see how that would effect it
The scope was new in the box from authorized dealer. The adjustment knobs are just normal knobs. They are like Leupold where you don't remove a cap you just pull up and make sight in adjustments and then push down. You can move the knobs back to zero after sight in
Thanks for any help. It looks level
