SKB ATA Double Bow Case: $200

I am selling a SKB double bow case will hold two compound bows, 1 bow + 1 rifle, or 2 rifles. Arrow holder holds 18 arrows. The case is in 98% condition: no gouges, mars, or dings. It came with the archery package I bought from a friend, but I have no use for the case, as I do not travel by air with my bow. The case has been sitting in my closet since I’ve owned it. This case sells on Amazon for $260 + shipping. The last picture is from the Amazon site that shows the case with a bow and arrows in it. The 2SKB-6002 SKB ATA Double Compound Bow Case is made to ATA 300 Category I specifications, which is the highest shipping container specification of the ATA (Air Transport Association). This case is molded from heavy weight polyethylene, the material specified by the U.S. military for its cases and containers. The 2SKB-6002 Bow Case provides secure transport for two compound bows measuring up to 49" in total length and up to 18 arrows. The 2SKB-6002 Bow Case is backed by an Unconditional Lifetime Warranty on the case. All SKB ATA Archery Cases also offer a special $1,500 Content Guarantee. In the unlikely event that your bow is damaged by airline handling while transported in an SKB ATA Archery Case, SKB will repair or replace your bow up to $1,500. Make offer. I live in the Southeast Valley.

    The Draw Is in Progress

If you DON'T get drawn, do they send you an email? How about if you DO get drawn; are you sent some sort of notice? This is my first attempt at getting drawn; I did it online.
  3. Just bought my Weatherby Vanguard 2 (.30-06) with a Vortex Diamondback 4x12-40 BDC at Sportman's Warehouse yesterday. Can't wait to take it on it's maiden voyage. Got out the door for $710, thanks to the coupons in the AZGFD regs booklet.

    Where are the snow pictures?

No snow..but lots of hail here in the southeast valley.
  5. I am in the market for a used utility ATV quad. I've asked around at some cycle shops and talked to mechanics who also ride for some advice, and got some good info. Now I'm asking you CWT members for their input, since you're the ones who actually use them. For starters, I'm no runt: I am 6'3 and weigh about 220. Some of the considerations I am soliciting your feedback on: SIZE OF MACHINE: I've been told by more than one source that I should be looking for something 500cc and up, given my weight, and the fact that I will be hauling gear and (hopefully) game. I've seen a few machines on Craigslist that fit within my budget (<$2,600), but are in the 350-400 cc range. 4x4 vs 2x4: This seems like a no-brainer. 4x4 is always nice to have, but has anyone been sorry they had a 2x4? Fuel Injected vs Carburetor: The consensus seems to be pro-injection, but given that you only find fuel injection on the later models, it leaves me out in the cold due to budget. For those who are running carbs, has it been a huge detriment? Make/Model: Here is where the debate gets hot. Of the three mechanics I talked to, all three agreed hands-down that Honda is the best, in their opinion: easier to work on, better engineered, parts cost & accessibility, etc. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of Honda utility quads out there in my price range. Kawasaki was the second choice of mechanics, but again, not a lot out there. The third and most plentiful option is the Polaris. There are a lot of them on the off-road, and they seem to be popular, but I question their mechanical track record. Miles/Hours: How many is too many? This is a lot to throw at you, but I've always received great advice from you good people, and I respect your opinions. Any comments/suggestions/considerations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Questions regarding used Utility Quads (ATV)

Thanks! I left a message for the guy that I would like to see it.

Questions regarding used Utility Quads (ATV)

Catman, Willhunt4coues, et al: This one caught my eye on Craigslist, and definitely fits the budget: Polaris Sportsman 500. The guy emailed a reply to some questions I had, and he said they have about 320 hours on each bike. Is this a reasonable amount of hours for machines of this age? For the $1,950 asking price, is it worth a closer look? Here's the ad: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/mcy/2896249398.html Also talked to Ridenow Sports out in AJ yesterday and got some good info. They are a Polaris dealer, and are obviously biased towards Polaris. Given the way I take care of mechanical things (I'm anal about preventative maintenance), I think any of the "Big 4" brands will suit me ok. As someone said: each brand has their own strengths and weaknesses.
  8. First of all..I am DEFINITELY no expert, but here's my two cents worth. My son recently bought his first rifle: A Weatherby Vanguard 2 (chambered in .243) with a Vortex Crossfire 3x9-40 scope. This gun is amazingly accurate for the price: $468 for the gun, and $100 for the scope. I just got a profit sharing check, and will be purchasing my first deer/elk rifle as well. I am so impressed with the performance and feel of the Weatherby/Vortex combo, that I will be buying the Weatherby Vanguared 2 + and upgraded Vortex Diamondback 4x12-40 scope chambered in 30.06. I should be able to get into this rig for around $700. I drove everyone on this forum nuts in soliciting input on a best all-around rifle, and I settled on the 30.06 as well. Good Luck!

Questions regarding used Utility Quads (ATV)

What size of engine? What is a battery tender? Also..is a quad with 1,500 miles on it considered "high mileage"? Thanks for the feed back, btw.
  10. I am "softly" looking for a used 500cc+ utility quad (need to sell my boat first). Been hitting the Craigslist ads for a Honda Rincon or comparable used machine. Came across this outfit in Utah. They're machines look decent and reasonable hours/mileage. Their prices are "too good to be true". Has anyone had any experience with them or heard of them? www.wvehicles.com

Locked gate on state trust land

I've noticed the same thing happening on 79 south of Florence Junction. Took my boys out to Cottonwood Canyon to shoot and hunt, and the gates were locked. Anxious to see what is learned from this.

Does anyone know when the 2012 draw results will be in by?

At that point all production at work sites will stop. The economy will take a little dip. Obama will not give AZ a stimulus deal to help us. You mean Obama will be replacing more perfectly good concrete?!
  13. Airbusdriver

    While waiting for draw results......

    What Yote said, +1
  14. I replace my springs every couple of years. At about $10, I consider it cheap insurance.
  15. I just completed my first application for elk season via the internet. Not a bad process overall.. However, I must have been in the "Ready, Shoot, AIM" mode and forgot to include an archery hunt as one of my five choices. Am I basically screwed, or is there a way to amend the app once you've already submitted it electronically?
  16. Airbusdriver

Online Draw: Can you change it after you've submitted?

Your kidding right? Be gentle. It was my first time.
  17. Move the target closer. Right now, that's all I can afford.

    Best pick-up yet

How on earth to you find these things? I can't even find the the deer that were presumably attached.
  19. What unit was this pic taken, and please give exact directions to you glassing spot. Thanks Ha Ha I'm not saying!

    What did Santa bring you?

Sitting here at 12:45 am and waiting for the pitter-patter of little feet stop so that we can play Santa Claus without getting busted. Thought it might be fun to share what cool "hunting toys" we got for Christmas. What did you get?

    Question about Gambel's Quail

Was out in the desert near Florence shooting with my two boys today. On the way out, we took a little trek north on the desert road and saw a covey of quail crossing the road. They appeared to be grey-ish in color; after looking at the AZGFD Rules book, I am guessing they were Gambel's, and it looks like they're in season. Is there a big distinction between the various species of AZ quail? Are they good eating? I had a fresh 2012 combo license in my wallet and was considering taking them, but wasn't sure. Any input would be appreciated. My experience hunting birds in AZ is nil. Thanks

    Question about Gambel's Quail

OK...I know I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. Are you guys serious about them tasting terrible?
  23. How popular/successful is bow hunting for deer in the northern units during January? If the snow depth is not too awful, I was thinking of giving it a try. Any feedback or experiences to share?
  24. This is the classic "Ford/Chevy/Dodge" argument as it pertains to rifles. In the next six months, I will be purchasing my first center fire rifle for the purpose of hunting deer here in AZ, with aspirations of eventually hunting elk. I don't see myself shooting greater than 300 yards, and for the get go, I'm not interested in the .300 due to the heavy recoil. I know the .300 is a great round, but I want to enjoy the process of shooting and practice without having to ice my shoulder down after every session. I've done a lot of research on ballistics on the .270/.308/.30-06. There are a lot of compelling reasons for shooting each caliber, but what it seems to come down to is that the animal couldn't care less. If the shot is well placed within a reasonable distance, there is going to be some meat on the table. As always with a subject like this, people seem to favor what they grew up with or what they are shooting. I'm looking for your feedback based on the criteria that is important to me: 1) Efficiency- will the round do the job humanely? 2) Economics- being able to afford many factory rounds in order to get proficient in shooting the weapon on target 3) Recoil management Any info and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
