AZ is hard to get drawn, we all know that. You can always got to CO every year. Yes there is a lot of hunters. Yes the elk are not trophy caliber but its elk hunting. Its like the ace up the sleeve, even if every state doesn't want to take your money for elk you can always go to CO. I would take a CO OTC hunt over a late archery simply because I am an awful archery hunter. Unless you're a pig. Then its game on.

I know I got some 129 lrx and some 140 accubonds. I can check on the bergers when I get home but I think they are classic hunters. My 270 likes the lrx at .010 off the lands with 62 gr of H4831sc. Running about 3150 fps. I also put a bc Alaskan stock on mine.

I have an 870 express from the earlier 2000s that my dad won at a DU banquet, after I got out of the service(2010) he sent it to me. I used it for several duck hunting seasons and the shells would stick in it. I tore it down and cleaned it as best as I could but sometimes it would still stick. Especially if I used the 15 dollar federal shells, seemed to work better with the 20 dollar hevi steel. I did buy a remington versmax sportsman this year for 530 with the 100 rebate. best deal ever haha wife didnt understand though

After arriving an hour late to the trailhead, thanks to daylight savings, I got up to my glassing point after sunrise. I was a little disappointed in getting there late but I started glassing and after ten minutes I spotted this buck at 1635 yards. There was a ridge between us at 1300 and I figured if I could get there I could seal the deal. I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping the buck would bed since he was hanging out by some bushes. I headed down to him as fast as I could and when I got to the ridge and peeked over he was bedded at 240 yards. I got set up prone and one shot with a 6.5 SAUM with 143 eldx he never got out of his bed.

Unfortunately all the shots were under 250 yards and the bullets mushroomed up under the opposite shoulder. Never a pass through but the elk didn't make it very far. Can't tell you what happens at a long range. I had a pass through at a coues at 350 and he went less then 50 yards.

I have used the 168 lrab in my 7mm to take three elk and have never had a problem with them. The bc is greatly inflated but as posted above Litz has proved a more accurate bc. Rl22 is what worked for me.

That is a sweet looking bull!

Amazon has some of the big buddy heaters in their used warehouse, which is just the returned items, for 93 bucks with tax. I haven't had a problem buying the return items from Amazon, usually 15 percent off a "new" one.

Firstcoues, have you tried those Berger 195s in your 28? I got a 7mm but thinking of turning it in to 28 to shoot those bullets.

They refund it back to your credit card. I like it better then Colorado who sends you a refund check. -

I got drawn for first rifle muley in the Burros, no elk or antelope though. -
I have a pair and I really like them. I think the glass is great, haven't done a side by side with the hd swaro el but it's better then my non hd el. Outdoorsmans now installs their stud on them which was my only complaint that I couldn't mount them to a tripod. I just googled the price for em now and cabelas has them for a good deal.

A little south of ya, I am in Corpus Christi. Traded the desert for the humidity. Yuck. Texas is nice but I do miss the public land of Arizona! Did you get a lifetime license before you moved? Best thing I did for the wife and I. Still get in the resident draw just pay non resident prices.

I can't believe somebody hasn't brought up Tank Girl yet.

This is my best coues deer that I have taken and I am really happy with him. My cousin spotted him on the first evening walking the hillside at 880 yards. I took off to close the distance and cut it down to 330 yards. I got a solid rest and took the shot and the buck disappeared. By the time I got up the hill the light was fading fast and being highly prepared with my cell phone light I couldn’t find him or any sign of the hit. I was pretty confident in my shot but doubt creeped while hiking back to the truck. We headed back up first thing in the morning, got a better picture of where the deer was and climbed up there. I realized that I was looking high and to the left of the tree that I shot the deer at. We got up to the tree and the buck was lying on his back not ten yards from where I shot him. It was a fun trip, kinda sad it ended so fast.
