    Muley Skull

I found this skull while out hanging my camera up. Most of the front quarters were still with the skull too. Thinking somebody shot him and couldn't recover him. Plus a little 3 point whitetail too. No recent drops though.

    Backyard pics

No I never did end up shooting any of those bucks. I only saw the 4 pointer a couple of times and the big eye guards. Plus I didn't want to explain to the neighbors why I was dragging a dead deer through their yard. Did see the spike running around all the time though. Here are a couple of more pics I got of them at night. These were taken about 100 yards from the garage

    Youth hunt help

Any of the dec hunts in the southern unit is hard to draw with no points because there is only 40 to 50 tags but AZGF changed up the late nov hunt to be 10 days long. That hunt starts Nov 30 and goes till Dec 9. Better chance of being drawn and it goes into Dec to fit your schedule better. But the units will already been hammered with two previous rifle hunt, so be prepared to do some glassing!

    Draw Results?

From NM Game and Fish, I wish our draw worked this good. Hoping for an elk tag this year, didnt get drawn in AZ. QUICK DRAW! BIG-GAME DRAW RESULTS AVAILABLE FRIDAY SANTA FE – Hunters who applied for New Mexico big-game licenses will know their draw results earlier than ever this spring, thanks to a paperless system that helped the department process license applications in record time. The Department of Game and Fish will send e-mails to successful applicants Thursday evening and post all draw results to customer accounts on the department website Friday. That’s five days earlier than expected this year and a more than a month earlier than last year. “The paperless, online system was so efficient that we were able to process and audit all our applications earlier than anticipated,” said Alexa Sandoval, the department’s Administrative Services chief. “For a lot of hunters, Friday will be like Christmas in May.” Earlier draw results also will allow the department to issue refunds to unsuccessful applicants much sooner, Sandoval said. The department received 139,811 applications and issued 59,690 licenses for deer, elk, antelope, bighorn sheep, oryx, ibex, javelina and Barbary sheep for the 2012-2013 seasons. Hunters can check their draw results by logging onto their customer account on the department website, www.wildlife.state.nm.us beginning Friday, May 4. Results and assistance will be available by phone beginning May 18 for applicants who have not received refunds or licenses in the mail.

advice for a dec. muzzloader 35a (mulley)

I had that hunt last year. Try looking near Elgin in the Mustangs or the back side of the Huachuas near the border. The San rafael valley is also a nice to glass but there is lots of private ranches in there.
  14. My wife's five year drought ended with this nice little buck. Opening day we headed out to a ridge that in years past we had success at. That morning we only glasses up two little spikes and a bunch of does. In the afternoon we headed to a bowl that we had taken a decent 3x3 out of last year but when we got there it was already taken. We glasses up another bowl and only spotted a doe and sixteen turkeys. We headed back to camp a little disappointed but it was only opening day. Saturday we arrived at a ridge that we had put a stalk in a nice 4x4 last year. The ridge faced east so we glasses it till the sun rose and then glasses west into a large bowl with several nice cuts in it. We glassed the ridge for several hours and couldn’t find anything. We decided to head to another spot for the hope of a midday buck spotting. My father in law took off in his truck in a ploom of dust after holding a bag of jerky for us to catch. We loaded up in my truck and headed down the road. After driving about ten yard I looked at the first ridge we glassed and I saw a deer. I pulled my binos up and saw it was a buck. Myself, wife, brother-in-law, and buddy all jumped out of the truck "quietly". I ranged the deer at 365 yard across the canyon and put my wife on it. She used my shoulder as a rest but couldn’t get steady on the buck so I ran back to the truck and got the sticks. The buck was still standing broadside look at us when my wife touched off using a .270 with Federal Fusion 130 grain. The buck slowly walked off to the top of the ridge without any signs of being hit and disappeared behind a bush. I was worried that he had just walked off without a scratch on him. We let him sit for twenty minutes and then hiked up the other side of the ridge. When we arrived at the area of the shot we couldn’t find any blood and I got really worried. We walked to where we last saw him and there he was lying dead, ten yards from the where we shot him. My wife put the bullet right through his lungs with one shot at 365 yards! This nice 3x2 will put meat in our freezer and now the pressure is on for me to also get one this year in my November hunt. PS. My wife has is made, I spot the deer, gut the deer, pack it out and butcher it. All she has to do is pull the trigger! I wish I had guided hunts. haha

    Backyard pics

Ya I just put the camera out just to see if there was any decent bucks out there. I didnt think there was going to be anything that big out there. I dont think it would be a problem hunting them with the bow besides you can see in the pics one of the field point bags I shoot at.
