    870 express shotguns.

I have an 870 express from the earlier 2000s that my dad won at a DU banquet, after I got out of the service(2010) he sent it to me. I used it for several duck hunting seasons and the shells would stick in it. I tore it down and cleaned it as best as I could but sometimes it would still stick. Especially if I used the 15 dollar federal shells, seemed to work better with the 20 dollar hevi steel. I did buy a remington versmax sportsman this year for 530 with the 100 rebate. best deal ever haha wife didnt understand though

    New Mexico Muley

After arriving an hour late to the trailhead, thanks to daylight savings, I got up to my glassing point after sunrise. I was a little disappointed in getting there late but I started glassing and after ten minutes I spotted this buck at 1635 yards. There was a ridge between us at 1300 and I figured if I could get there I could seal the deal. I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping the buck would bed since he was hanging out by some bushes. I headed down to him as fast as I could and when I got to the ridge and peeked over he was bedded at 240 yards. I got set up prone and one shot with a 6.5 SAUM with 143 eldx he never got out of his bed.

    Nosler accubond LR any reviews?

Unfortunately all the shots were under 250 yards and the bullets mushroomed up under the opposite shoulder. Never a pass through but the elk didn't make it very far. Can't tell you what happens at a long range. I had a pass through at a coues at 350 and he went less then 50 yards.

    Nosler accubond LR any reviews?

I have used the 168 lrab in my 7mm to take three elk and have never had a problem with them. The bc is greatly inflated but as posted above Litz has proved a more accurate bc. Rl22 is what worked for me.

    Looking for a Mr.Heater...Buddy heater

Amazon has some of the big buddy heaters in their used warehouse, which is just the returned items, for 93 bucks with tax. I haven't had a problem buying the return items from Amazon, usually 15 percent off a "new" one.
  7. Firstcoues, have you tried those Berger 195s in your 28? I got a 7mm but thinking of turning it in to 28 to shoot those bullets.
  8. They refund it back to your credit card. I like it better then Colorado who sends you a refund check.
  9. I got drawn for first rifle muley in the Burros, no elk or antelope though.

Any reviews on Zeiss 10x42SF ?

I have a pair and I really like them. I think the glass is great, haven't done a side by side with the hd swaro el but it's better then my non hd el. Outdoorsmans now installs their stud on them which was my only complaint that I couldn't mount them to a tripod. I just googled the price for em now and cabelas has them for a good deal.

    BACK!! DALLAS CWT--

A little south of ya, I am in Corpus Christi. Traded the desert for the humidity. Yuck. Texas is nice but I do miss the public land of Arizona! Did you get a lifetime license before you moved? Best thing I did for the wife and I. Still get in the resident draw just pay non resident prices.

    'Filmed in AZ' favorites...

I can't believe somebody hasn't brought up Tank Girl yet.
  14. This is my best coues deer that I have taken and I am really happy with him. My cousin spotted him on the first evening walking the hillside at 880 yards. I took off to close the distance and cut it down to 330 yards. I got a solid rest and took the shot and the buck disappeared. By the time I got up the hill the light was fading fast and being highly prepared with my cell phone light I couldn’t find him or any sign of the hit. I was pretty confident in my shot but doubt creeped while hiking back to the truck. We headed back up first thing in the morning, got a better picture of where the deer was and climbed up there. I realized that I was looking high and to the left of the tree that I shot the deer at. We got up to the tree and the buck was lying on his back not ten yards from where I shot him. It was a fun trip, kinda sad it ended so fast.

    New Mexico 2nd rifle

Yup I have the second hunt tags as well, probably won't make it up till the 14th though.
  16. I am building a 6.5 off of a 700 mag action and can't decide what caliber to pick between a .264 win mag and 26 nosler. I like the 26 because it is different and dies and brass are available. The gunsmith said he has had trouble finding a good load because of the casing and how it burns. Has anybody have exeperince with the 26 nosler? I am not too concerned with eating up the barrel because it will be a hunting rifle and after break in and finding a load, it will probably see 50 rounds a year. Also I have the lrab and eldx ready for loads if anybody has info on those. I use the lrab in my 7 mag with good experience on three elk and one coues. Thanks

    6.5 build question

The reason why I posted this was because I was dead set on the 26 nolser but when I told the gunsmith about it, he said he has built a couple but had a difficult time finding a good load because of the casing and recommended going with the 264 win mag instead. I am just looking for advice on building a 6.5 and I got some great advice on calibers I hadn’t researched such as the 6.5 4s. I have and do look at other hunting forums for advice and reviews but since I only contribute to this forum, that’s where I ask my questions. Hey Big, you're telling me that I can’t build a rifle, throw a nightforce on it, follow the velocity chart on the box of bullets and shoot a dink at 1372 yards? That’s not what they told me at Walmart! When I say I don’t plan on shooting this gun a lot it is because it will be my coues gun. I am not gonna use it for long range matches, elk hunting, hunting pet deer down here in texas or anything else. I do burn primers, sometimes with powder, sometimes in the living room but I am still in love my .270 and I use it more than anything. Who knows I might like this gun more, I am just stating I am not concerned about barrel life. I don’t really shoot long range anyway, my longest shot was about 450 and my last two coues were under 150 yards. I figure if I am going to build a 6.5 why not go all out, if I wanted barrel life, I would buy a creedmore. Titanium thanks for the offer but I already have all the parts for the build, just need to drop it off at the gunsmith.

    6.5 build question

That 6.5 4S looks pretty cool but the brass seems hard to come by with only GAP offering it commercially. Making it from .300 SAUM brass is a little out my reloading knowledge and capabilities. Also the cost of the dies is more than any powder savings I would get from going with the 4S. The 6.5 WSM looks interesting, same price for brass as the .26 nosler and from what I read you can just resize the 270 wsm brass to make it. The action I am using is a long action, will that make a difference since I believe the wsm use short actions? The 160 Matrix does have great BC but is it like the berger bullets? I know some people swear by the bergers but I have seen them also just poke a little hole and keep on going. Thanks for all the suggestions, I am still leaning towards the .26 just because its fast and the dies and brass are readily available along with load data.

Man I shipped my app from Texas on Thursday and told em it needed to be there Monday. I just checked the tracking this morning and they delivered it Friday! Looks like I wasted that application. Gotta send out another one.

    Card Hit - 2016 style

You get to hunt everything you want and every year too! Anchorage is the city but the wilderness is an hour or less drive/plane ride away. If I was you I would do in a heartbeat, wife didn't like the two week on two week off schedule. Just buy a lifetime hunting license before you leave AZ and put in for the rut hunts.

    Card Hit - 2016 style

Anchorage is just like any decent sized city, it's got the big box stores, chain restaurants just a little colder and windier than most. The cost of living will be higher than most places in the lower 48 due to its location. Also over half of Alaska population lives in Anchorage and the neighboring Matanuska Valley so it's not going to be very rural as you see on tv. But you do get to hunt everything! Very few draws, like kodiak island brown bear, certain units for sheep and elk. Caribou, moose, bear, deer, sheep, mountain goats are all over the counter for most units and the tags are cheap. Like free. I remember only paying for a brown bear tag and it was 50 bucks. Fishing is great too but I always just used a net for subsistence purposes. If you're all about the outdoors I would do it, I had to turn down a job in Juneau last year because I couldn't get the wife onboard. Good luck
