I am curious on the differences with thye new Swarovski binoculars. I have heard the new HD SLCs are noticably able to see clearer at low light than the originals. I am wondering how they rate to the new ELs or original ELS though? Thanks for your opinions.

Accurizing a Weatherby Vanguard
Flash replied to Condor's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Whitesheep, My Vanguard shoots a tighter group than my buddies Mark V. Not sure how that worked out! -
Intertesting. Thanks for your opinion. I was surprised the 2011 flagship bow was shorter than the Z7. I still want to shoot it but am really interested in the magnum.

Just curious, was that west side or east side? Thanks.

Thats a great mount. I need to find a taxidermist like him.

Well I sure support G&F doing surveys if it helps them, but during a hunt is a terrible practice. I had the same thing happen to me on a coues hunt where I had to hike a long way to an area. They buzzed the area in a helicopter and moved the deer out in a hurry. On their initial pass, they saw me glassing and came over head, hovered and glassed me. Then they continued their grid, saw the buck and flew with him as he ran out of the area. It looked like they were taking pictures. I did not find the buck in there again. I am still sore about that one!

Unit 8 has some good deer, so let the little guys grow and hold out for a mature buck Lots of deer live in the pines. The advice you got was a good area. Also try around davenport hill and rosilda spring canyon. I just saw a group there the other day with some nice bucks. Good luck and have fun.

I have been hearing bugles at night but most cows are by themselves and some bulls are still hanging out together. It is close and yes a bit early, but its been a different year.
-
Well you are not going to not see people, its public land hunting. The major water sources seem to get hit hard on every unit I have been in. Unit 8 has enough elk to go around, so just don't get too fusterated if you wonder into people or they wonder into you. It will happen, but it doesn't mean you won't have ahcnace for a good bull.

Wow, great buck. How do you like that bow?

"How to Hunt Coues Deer" by Duwane Adams and Tony Mandile. Lots of info in there. Free, just pay $5 to ship.

OK, now that I have a few different people interested, I feel bad because someone is loosing out. SORRY! I apologize. Its is going to a site user that I saw first in a PM (because I saw that before I looked at responses on the thread). Maybe the book can be shared again in the future. Again, sorry to dissapoint anyone. Not sure what the fairest way to give it away would have been, but I sure feel bad about it.

Nice mount. My buddy has that tag this year. Hope we can locate a ram near that size!

I shoot a 257 WM for deer and have been very satisfied with the 100 grain spire bullet. I have limited my shots to 400 yards or less and it has dropped everything I shot on a dime. I want to consider the possibility of shooting a little longer and was told by a ballistics guru buddy that because the 115 grain ballistic tip has a better coefficincy, it is a way better round at longer distances. He said the energy is a ton better. Now I would never take a shot that I am not confidant with and also know its all about shot placement, but I am definitly willing to shoot something that puncuates the shot! If I make a change to longer shooting (even if it ends up only in practice), I would change to a ballistic scope, so I need to decide on the grain bullet before I buy the scope. I shoot Weatherby factory ammo. I would like to hear experiences on the ballistic tip or any other related opinions. Thanks for your time.

Like new Remington SPS in 204. Under 80 shots through it. Great shooter. Retails locally for $619. Can include brass if interested. Will sell as a package with brand new scope (Zeiss) or just rifle and bases. $825 as package, $425 for rifle.

Its a Conquest 3-9x40. This gun hasn't seen much shooting time, but the couple times it went out it was good for a 50 yard kill and 2 over 300 yards.

I shot one in December and liked it. It was a pretty consistant pull back. The only thing I don't care for is the ATA is pretty short and "they" say that it is much harder to be precise at longer distances. I am not a good enough shooter or spend enough time trying to know how true that is. Also for what its worth, I know of a few guys though that shot it and went with the Monster 7 instead saying it was a better draw and better holding bow. The nice thing is that there are several really nice bows out there to pick from!

Mathews DXT 28”, set at 70 lbs. Includes bow, Hi-Tek custom DXT string stop, G5 peep, Limbsavers & Mathews harmonic stabilizer. The bow has been expertly super tuned by BowXperts (all paperwork included from them including mapping, draw curve, chrono, site in info, pin gap, KE, paper tune, etc. Visit them at www.bowxperts.com for more info). I can include the 11 arrows that were set up for it as well if interested (Carbon Force) for no additional charge. Also can include the QAD Ultra Pro rest shown in pics for another $100. With that, this bow is ready to shoot dead on with your first shot. The bow is in good shape, showing only a little wear on the rubber factory string suppressors (pics shown, it is very minor wear). $600 TYD. Thanks for looking.

I was wondering if the craziness had come from having the better than average bucks killed last year. My buddy went down to get a tag and struck out (and was open to a couple different units). A few years ago he had no problem getting a tag.
