  2. Dang, too bad that isn't a 20 guage. I am still interested, just not exactly what I'm looking for (but close). If you decide you could come down some on it, PM me and maybe we can make a deal. No pressure either way. Thanks for your time and consideration.

    My new Tikka Superlight.

Nice. I was looking at a T3 Lite but was hoping for a fluted barrel. Cabelas had their own special run but didn't like the calibers offered. Do you know what the Sportsmans Warehouse calibers are or what the stores in phoenix have by any chance?

    Broad heads for elk, 2014

I have seen 2 articles that really praised these and they stated how surprised they were to come from something other than a big name maker which is how I thought of them at first. I might give them a try. http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-Blackout-FixedBlade-Broadheads-or-Replacement-Blades/product/79674/
  6. Lots of options in northern AZ. Stay in Williams or Flagstaff and are in the area of lots of options. Most likely hit Grand Canyon, after that you have indian ruins like wupatki or montezumas caste, shopping in Sedona, petrified forest/painted desert, old town Prescott, Jerome mining town, Verde river fishing, San Francisco Peaks hiking and more.
  7. Was planning to be in the Alamagordo area for a couple days in April. I was thinking about looking for some barbary sheep. Anyone have experience with them in there in the spring time? Thanks.

    coues art

I agree, so hard to find anything coues. My buddy met someone at the ISE show a few years ago that drew him some pictures and used photos of his mounts as a reference, so it looked like deer he had shot live. Really cool, but he lost the contact info and I never was able to get it done. I see a couple of the replies have people scotching there own stuff, if you ever want to sell anything I would be interested. Couestracker, that's awesome!

    12bw fence along state road

Nice job EAS. It was tough, especially early on. I was also solo so feel for ya. Sounds like a great shot and a good buck to be happy with! I believe the fence had a huge impact. Myself as well as a few other hunters I talked to over the hunt saw minimal deer numbers on the north 1/3 of the unit. You could literally see a hundred deer in a couple mile stretch on that fence. There were also the same groups of deer in the same spot over the week hunt. I talked to a guide who had trail cameras at the crossings and said he only had a couple deer come through. More crossings and bigger openings on them would benefit the deer I think. Those poor things looked like puppy dogs with their noses in the chain link fence just looking to the other side. Guess the Utah folks like it!

    unit 10

You'll need to decide if you want to pay and hunt the boquillas. It's the better elk country and about half the unit. If you do, try around Mt. Floyd, Trinity and Keseha camp.

    12bw fence along state road

I'll be up there for the late hunt. First time for me but know people who have had it over the years, mainly 7-10 years ago though and range from awesome hunt and 190" bucks to hardest hutn ever and nothing over 140". Guess I'll know first hand in a couple weeks! If you look around on the interent there is some interesting info and reports about the fence. Sounds like the intentions were good but the lack of crossings are a big issue and the deer are getting spooked at the few crossings there are by tourist and hunters. 1 report claimed DWR and BLM monitored 50% of the hunters on the recent Utah hunt were within 1 mile of the fence and had a high success rate. Might have some effects this year but hopefully things will get straightened up soon. bigbuckkiller- 195"...geez, thanks, I won't sleep tonight

    12BW

Heading up to 12BW in a couple weeks for my first ever hunt north of the river. I am hopeful to find a good glassing spot and turn up the buck I have been dreaming of while applying for soooooo many years! I usually put in for 12AE and have scouted there before without a tag but changed things up this time and drew a 12BW atg. Not sure what to expect for numbers, realistic size class, areas, etc. but it should be fun figuring it out!

    UNIT 7W Archery Bull Elk

Agree, the monsoon moisture helps out the deer, but elk are close to done in July when the rain starts. The extra rain just adds more water sources to keep elk spread out and concentrated on bog water holes. Good hunting can be found in most of the pine country. If you can get after it, Kendrick mountain wilderness and surrounding area (pumpkin center, wildhorse canyon, bull basin) is great during that hunt. Also the far east edge of the unit where the Kaibab and Coconino forests meet produces stellar bulls.
