    Unit 10 Wind Farm

It's another loss to the average guy and gain to the private ranchers, specifically those in the general area of the latest restrictions. They have already limited or locked up so much checker boarded land and listening to them, won't stop limiting things in the hopes they will finally get landover tags. Really sucks!

  5. Selling a binocular accessory kit that I don't need any longer. Includes the snug rug which is a molded foam carrier that keeps your binos safe and dirt free. Also including a soft cover that protests your binos while you are out in the field. It's soft and silent and you can glass without removing it. Lastly is a vehicle holder to keep your binos ready to grab in a hurry. I spent $65 on the kit last year, asking for $35 shipped.

    Tripod package

This is a full complement of gear and accessories to cover all your glassing needs. I will list and try to explain each item included in this package. Velbon Victory 550 tripod (following size data from their website). Maximum height is 58, minimum is 8. It has 3 leg sections with lever snap style releases for secure and quick use. Folds down to 22. Retractable steel spikes to help prevent unwanted movement. It has a unique leg design that allows individually adjustable leg spread for low ground level or maximum stability on nearly any terrain. 2-section lift center column for quick and easy vertical positioning and also allows for the tripod to be placed really low to the ground for prone shooting. Radial leg braces for maximum stability and convenient tripod setup. The tripod shows wear but works flawless. Jim White pan head. Machined aluminum lightweight head made for hunting. Anodized to prevent corrosion. 3.25 tall, 2x2 top and weighs only 14oz. It uses sealed ball bearings to provide an extremely smooth pan and has a quick release adapter system for switching optics without losing the field of view. A great feature of this head is the ability to set the tension to your liking. This really helps to allow for it to work to each individuals glassing style. The handle is a twist locking style and controls the up and down as well as allows for moving the head in any directions. A tension knob adjusts the left to right and does not come loose from the tension setting you put it on. The head has a few wear marks but works perfect. Remember this head could be taken off this tripod and used on any tripod. Jim White converter head. This is a great addition to your glassing set up. It is the same top as the JW head. It is used to convert other tripods to accept your optics that are set up with the JW tripod plates. A great use for this is to put on a window mount or a different tripod you may use for photography or videoing. It fits both sized adapter plate sizes, but made to minimize excessive weight. I had this custom made from Jim White himself. Jim White binocular adapter and quick connect system. The binocular adapter is the style that fits on binos with a thread system. The adapter fits in between the binocular barrels. The bottom of the adapter has a small nipple that is made for the (2) adapters included. The adapters screw onto the quick release plates and make for a secure, very fast binocular set up. The binoculars (with the adapter) slide into the little adapter post, so you can mount or dismount the binoculars securely in a couple of seconds. Also included are 3 regular plates and 2 half sized plates and plate screws. I am also including a brand new replacement tension knob for the L/R pan direction and a thread increaser. I have $700 invested. Selling for $450. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

    Scope power setting

I have a few buddies that have long range set ups with turret style systems. One guy said you have to use 1 specific power settting and stick with it at all times to make the click distances right. The other couple guys said you can move the power up and down and it doesn't affect how many clicks it takes. Zeiss has a calculator for there hold over systems that gives you a specific power that has to be used. What's the real realities of power setting and turrets?

2010 Unit 10 December Archery deer hunt.

It's a tough deal you ran in to, but I know Game and Fish have dealt with a couple folks in a small town that had illegally shot a couple animals and brought them in a few weeks after saying they had hit and lost them in season. For multiple reasons, but they basically found the animals to be "fresher" than the story fit. The only reason to bring it up is to add that somethimes G&F has a reason, but I will certainly agree that there are way more stories of them acting in a less than sportsman like way. I hope you can get your antlers back at the auction and find a cape, mount it and admire a heck of a trophy for the rest of your life, regardless of the crappy situation you are going through.
  14. I am interested in finding a gun store in the Phoenix or noAZ area that typically is pretty competitive with prices and is willing to order a gun they don't have in stock. I am looking for a Tikka Lite and the few places I have checked with won't order the caliber (only sells what's in stock).

    Chef hunts Barbary sheep...

    Possible new BILL!!!

I agree residents should get a majority of the tags, but 2% to nonresidents is tough. Not sure about that as fair either. Just for the record, I have applied for rifle deer, archery elk and rifle antelope every year for 13 years and have drawn 1 tag, an antelope tag last year as my third choice. I was surprised to read the post above about non-residents drawing so many tags.

  20. So what's the fire doing? Is it atleast returning the land to historic conditions or improving habitat by cleaning up vegetation and allowing for grasses and forbs to sprout this summer? Usually even when they are rolling, they do little harm (ecologocally) unless it is in the urban interface. Point taken expected winds makes a burn less ideal unless they needed those conditions to carry the fire (PJ, grass, etc).

    range finder help

I can't give you a technical, proper comparison, but I sure like the Leica rangefinders. They have done well for me.
  22. I am curious on the differences with thye new Swarovski binoculars. I have heard the new HD SLCs are noticably able to see clearer at low light than the originals. I am wondering how they rate to the new ELs or original ELS though? Thanks for your opinions.
  23. Whitesheep, My Vanguard shoots a tighter group than my buddies Mark V. Not sure how that worked out!

    Z7 Extreme

Intertesting. Thanks for your opinion. I was surprised the 2011 flagship bow was shorter than the Z7. I still want to shoot it but am really interested in the magnum.
  25. Just curious, was that west side or east side? Thanks.
