HE'S STILL ALIVE!! LAST NIGHT I FOUND A BUCK WE'VE BEEN CHASIN' FOR A FEW YEARS I WATCHED HIM UNTIL DARK, THEN DECIDED TO GO BACK THIS MORNING AND TRY TO GET SOME GOOD PICTURES AND VIDEO OF HIM. I HIKED THROUGH THE SHIN DAGGERS IN THE DARK AND GOT TO A GOOD SPOT TO GLASS AND I FOUND HIM RIGHT AWAY ABOUT 300 YARDS FROM WHERE I LAST SAW HIM LAST NIGHT, HE LAID DOWN AS SOON AS THE SUN STARTED TO COME UP. HE WAS ABOUT 800 YARDS SO I DECIDED TO GET CLOSER. I MADE A STALK AND GOT ABOUT 300 YARDS AND TOOK SOME PICTURES AND VIDEO AND HE NEVER KNEW I WAS THERE! IT WAS AWSOME! I WATCHED HIM FOR TWO HOURS OR SO AND HE JUST LAID THERE, FINALLY THE SUN GOT ON HIM AND HE GOT UP AND FEED A LITTLE THEN FEED DOWN IN TO A DRAW I COULDN'T SEE IN . SO, I JUST BACKOUT OF THERE AND CALLED IT A PRETTY GOOD MORNING AND CAME HOME. 69 SLEEPLESS NIGHTS TO COME!! HERE IS A LITTLE VIDEO CLIP

The guy was just huntin, jumped him up and shot him, like 75 yards. The buck scored 108"-110". Congrats to that hunter. Thats the sceond year in a row that we have put in a ton of time found good bucks and watched someone else shoot them. Oh well, that's why they call it hunting! The good news is there is always next year and I saw a buck yesterday that is every bit as big as this one! Tried to get some pictures and video but it was raining and snowin to hard and he was just a little to far. Now, I just gotta get drawn!

Congrats on your buck! Just lookin at him from the pics I'd be willing to bet he's more like 104". He looks bigger than 94".

Well, it funny how life changes. Two months ago my life was turnned upside down, I came home from work and my wife told me she was leaving, and there was nothing I could do or say to change her mind. I can't put into words how that feels. She told me that she felt that hunting and work was more important to me than her. That's not how I felt but my actions spoke louder than my words. I spent more time on this web site, hunting, and scouting than I did with her. It really makes a guy realize what is important in life when something like this happens. I was so worried about having the biggest and the best keeping up with the Jones'es, ya know the bottom line is you can't take any of it with you in the end, nobody really cares and it really dosen't matter when there is nobody to share it with. Sure I have family and friends to share things with but it just isn't the same. Needless to say my priorties and outlook on life has changed. I was living for Jack and answering to Jack and really give a dang about anyone else or anything if it didn't benifit me I wasn't going to do it. Well,I got my skinny butt to church and my whole life, priorties, views, thoughts, emotions all that stuff has been changed, now I know there is purpose and meaning to "life". All the "things" that mattered before don't. It really dosent matter if you kill a 120" buck, spike, or nothing, just be thank for the time that you get to spend with you family and friends and the memories that are made. It is kinda emberassing that it took something like this to happen for me to realize all this, but everything happens for a reason and everything will work out in the end. All that being said I did manage to get a few days of hunting in. I went up to Utah for a few days we had a great time. It snowed the day before and we weren't able to get to the "honey hole" but we filled all three tags. The other two guys had never killed a deer before, I have never seen two grown men so happy. We didn't see any big deer but we did see a sea of orange. It was unbeliveable the number of people out hunting. There were camps that had 50 to 75 people in them, it was amazing. We saw like 300 deer a day but then we also saw like 500 hunters too! I amazes me that anything with horns can survive. needless to say our trophy hunt turnned into a meat hunt, we all shot two points. Here is my beast! I also had a november whitetail tag. I put in a ton of time scouting and found a good buck. I was hoping that my dad was going to finally kill a "big one" remember this guy? Well, he made it through the October hunt. Opening morning we were right in his house but it wasn't ment to be. A fella from Oregon was walkin through jumped this buck and shot him, less than 500 yards from us. Second year in a row that has happened to us. I didn't get to see the buck but my buddies said he was like 105-110. Dad was pretty bummed out. I was bummed because our "secret spot" isn't a secret spot no more. It got HAMMERED! It was pretty discouraging, people were everywhere, it was windy and the deer went into hiding. We didn't see to much after the first day. Dad decided that he was going to go back down, but was going to go scout for my brothers elk hunt instead, so I went down by myself Friday morning and glassed up a decent buck just as the the sun was coming up. It was kinda a weird deal there were crows circling around and they were folowing the buck. For a minute I thought that it was a mule deer because there was so much white on his butt, but it was a coues so I made a quick stalk and set up. The buck walked right out in front of me 225 yards and he never knew what hit him he dropped in his tracks! Here he is! When I got over to him I realized why he had so much white on his butt and why the crows had been following him....somebody shot his tail OFF the weekend before. He wasnt going to died from the wound but the crows thought he was!! Remember whats realy important and dont' sweat the small stuff, take the time to stop and smell the roses so to speak, and congrats to everybody who got to be "out there" weather you got something or not!

Thanks guys, wish I knew eight weeks ago what I know now. But, you know I can't live in the past, I know what I did, I know what I said, and didn't say and that can't be changed. All I know now is that my life has a meaning and a pupose and will forever be changed. I look at everything from a diffrent prespective, funny how he did that. Nothing that I was so worried about before matters any more. The cool thing is that we both ended up in church and we never talked about going before. We have been talking a little bit but shes not ready to come back yet. Shes still working on herself. I can respect that, she has put up with me for five years. She knows I want to work it out, she knows I am sorry, she knows I not going anywhere, the ball is in her court right now. All I do is hang out and pray and try to keep my chin up, some days are better than others but I'm doing good. You realy don't realize what you have until its gone. Seems like it takes somebody dying or something like this to bring everybody back together. Why dose it happen that way? I know this is all happening for a reason I am coming out of this a better man than I went in so I am thankful for that. It has been the most humbling experience of my life and I need it! DEERSLAM-there will always be another deer hunt or another weekend to scout, I dont have any ememies anymore but I would wish this on anyone!

I shot a buck last year at 535 yards with one shot and I shot a jackrabbit at 430 last winter and I even had two witnesses!! I've missed them alot closer too! There definately alot more air around them than in them!

MY MOM WAS BEGGING ME TO GO DO SOME SCOUTING FOR HER OCT. HUNT SO ME AND A BUDDY WENT DOWN THIS WEEKEND AND SAW A FEW DEER HERE IS THE BIGGEST BUCK WE SAW. HE WAS ABOUT 3/4 OF A MILE AWAY AND WE WERE GLASSING INTO THE SUN SO THE PICS AREN'T THAT GREAT BUT YOU'LL GET THE IDEA. WITH BEAR SEASON STARTING FRIDAY I FIGURED I'D CHECK OUT SOME NEW SPOTS I HEARD ABOUT. SO I WENT AND DROVE AROUND TIL I FOUND SOMETHING I THOUGHT BEARS MIGHT LIKE AND I FOUND SOME OF THESE, DO BEARS EAT THESE? SO AFTER I FOUND THE ACORNS I STARTED WALKING AROUND THE AREA LOOKIN FOR SOME SIGN AND BELIVE IT OR NOT I FOUND SOME! I FIGURED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO WATER AND THE TOPO SHOWED A FEW TANKS IN THE AREA SO I WENT AND CHECKED THOSES OUT. THE FIRST TANK HAD A SET OF SMALL BEAR TRACKS ON IT ,HOW CUTE! THESE DEFINATELY WEREN'T THE SAME TRACKS I SAW IN THE ACORNS SO I WENT AND CHECK ANOTHER TANK AND IT HAD TRACKS ON IT TOO! AND THEY WEREN'T THE TRACKS I SAW IN THE ACORNS EITHER! THEY WERE THE BIGGEST BEAR TRACKS I HAVE EVER SEEN!! ANYBODY KONW HOW TO JUDGE A BEARS SIZE BY HIS TRACK? BY NO MEANS AM I A BEAR EXPERT BUT I THINK THIS IS A BIG BEAR, THOSE ARE 300 ULTRA MAG SHELLS NEXT TO HIS TRACKS! THE FRONT TRACK WAS 6 1/2" ACROSS THE PAD AND THE HIND TRACK WAS ALMOST 9" FROM HEEL TO TOE. NEEDLESS TO SAY I KNOW WHERE I'LL BE FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY.... HOPFULLY I'LL JUST NEED FRIDAY!

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE. I TALKED TO A DEALER FRIDAY AND THEY SAID END OF NOVEMBER MATTHEWS WILL HAVE A NEW BOW ON THE MARKET, AND FROM WHAT THE FELLA SAID THEY ARE SWEETER THAN EVER.!!!

I WAS GOING TO BUY A NEW BOW TODAY BUT, I HEARD THAT MATTEWS IS GOING TO BE RELEASING THE '07 BOWS NEXT MONTH WHICH ARE "UNBELIVEABLE" HAS ANYBODY ELSE HEARD THIS RUMOR? SECONDLY, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE WHISKER BISCUIT. SEEMS LIKE THE PERFECT REST FOR SPOT AND STALK HUNTING.

I LIVE IN THE OLD COYOTE SPRINGS RANCH HOUSE, SO THAT LAST STORY HITS CLOSE TO HOME. I JUST SAW MY FIRST COUPLE ELK OUT HERE THE OTHER DAY. THAT REALY SUCKS THAT SOMEBODY POACHED THREE. THERE ARE ALWAYS PEOPLE OUT HERE SHOOTING AND DRIVING ALL OVER THE PLACE, SO IT REALY DOSEN'T SURPRISE ME.

THATS A TOUGH DEAL WHENEVER YOU ARE HUNTING ON PUBLIC OR STATE LAND, EVREYBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO USE THAT TANK. GIVING THE GUY THE BENIFIT OF THE DOUBT IT WAS 10:15 AND I WOULD SAY THAT MOST HUNTERS WOULD BE OFF THEIR STAND BY THAT TIME. THE FACT THAT YOU WERE STILL SHOWS YOUR DEDICATION, BUT HE PROBABLY WASN'T EXPECTING YOU TO BE THERE. YEAH, MABEY HE COULD HAVE LEFT AND GOT HIS STAND ANOTHER TIME BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW HIS STORY, HE MAY HAVE DROVE SEVERAL HOURS TO GET IT. I WOULDN'T GET TO UPSET THAT STUFF HAS HAPPENES TO ALL OF US, SOMEDAY THE TABLES MAY BE TURNNED, YOU NEVER KNOW! I DON'T OWN A TREE STAND OR A BLAZER SO IT WASN'T ME!

ME, MY DAD, AND TWO BUDDIES HAVE THE NOVEMBER TAG AND MY WIFE HAS THE DECEMBER TAG. I WOULD REALY LOVE FOR MY DAD TO GET THIS BUCK HE HAS NEVER KILLED A BUCK OVER 100" AND I'M PRETTY SURE THIS BUCK WOULD BE CLOSE TO BOOKING, SO THAT WOULD BE AWSOME FOR HIM. I'M HAVE 10 DAYS OR SO TO HUNT AND I WANT TO KILL A 120"+ BUCK, SO I WOULD PASS THIS BUCK CALL ME CRAZY BUT I CAN'T KILL A MONSTER IF I SHOOT A TOAD FIRST!! BESIDES THAT I SAW A BUCK ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF AWAY AND COULD SEE HORNS ON HIM IN THE 15'S, HE WAS A LITTLE SPECK WITH A BLOB ON HIS HEAD, AND I SAW A BUCK RIGHT WHERE HE WAS, DURING THE JAVELINA HUNT THAT HAD LIKE 6" EYE GAURDS AND WAS CLOSE TO 110" LAST YEAR, SO MABEY WITH ALL THE RAIN HE WILL MAKE THE 120' MARK THIS YEAR THATS WHAT I'M HOPING FOR ANYWAY. THEN AFTER THE NOV. HUNT I WILL SCOUT HARD FOR MY WIFES HUNT, SO AS LONG AS SOMEONE I KNOW KILLS THIS BUCK I WOULD BE HAPPY!! WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES, IT SHOULD BE FUN!!
