  1. Wouldn't say anything to you in a PM that I wouldn't say here or sitting around a camp fire...I said I enjoy horse trading banter for a reason....I wasn't concerned...I was just yanking your chain about her...wasn't meant to be personal...I'll use italics for sarcasm next time...

I was truly interested in seeing her foals and knowing if she was N/N for HYPP because I do know people looking for mares that will produce color...

    Happy Trails...

  2. Oh and Jack since you're concerned, she's also negative for Lethal White.

Come have a look at her Jack, and while you're here, please trim the neighbors stallion, his hooves look awful. Hey I can get you tons of business on the west side.

Oh good...not concerned...It was a question...I have people ask me if I know of any horses for sale all the time...

Appreciate the offer...but horses with awful looking feet and cheap horses are that way for a reason...and are not worth the time or effort JMO

  3. Yea! It can be fun...depending on which side of the trade you're on...Because I like good horse trading banter...what about the leggy blonde...So she is 7 and just started under saddle? How do you know she can jump a 5' fence? Can she do it with an elk on her? Lol

  4. Thank for the replies so far...It will be an October hunt...around 4000'...planning on going in 5 or 6 miles...and staying 3 or 4 days...

I can always build a fire but...how many hours/minutes do the fuel cans last? ...Whats the best dried food?

  5. Planning on doing a solo pack in hunt this fall...I've never done it and gotta get it off the bucket list...Am going to go as light as possible...cause I'm coming out heavier!

My question is for the $$ what are the lightest/best stoves and water purifiers out there? What would be your suggestions/recommondations for sleeping set ups pad/tent vs hammmocks pros & cons?

  6. Wait .. You are sitting in your truck more than a 1/4 mile from a Known Roost (not sure if your implication means known by many and/or all) and you are going to complain about a guy wanting to push out in an area where you are just sitting? It seems if he came up to you and asked , you did have an opportunity to direct some of how things may have gone down. How Many Square miles Does one reserve for themselves while sitting in a truck ( not really hunting ) ? I know if I have an area picked out, show up, and a couple guys are just sitting it out in a truck, I am going to give them the opportunity tell me their plans and I will adapt and try not to interfere bu that does not mean I am going to just drive miles away ... When you are out hiking and hunting, you are going to come across others often that have similar ideas and strategies, when this happens neither person is wrong but both should try and cooperate... But I am having a hard time grasping how sitting parked 1/4 + mile away from a Known roost ( did you know there were turkey on it or sitting back hoping to catch some moving in from the comfort of your truck?) entitles anyone to anything ... heck, others could come in from a different direction at that distance and you possibly would not even know. It is public land hunting, get used to curve balls being thrown at you and adapt ...

We should all just hold hands and walk through the forest together...

  7. Rode bareback horses for 12 years...loved it...craved it...miss it...Been 5 years since I've been on one...kinda craving it again...probably just like riding a bike...right?

  8. Guess 2014 was my lucky year...Drew tag #14 for an early archery bull hunt and tag #14 for a late rifle whitetail hunt...Spent more time in the field than I did working or at home it seems...I had high hopes...Discovered and explored tons of new country...had many ups and downs...made many diffucult decisions...learned alot...and had good friends and family to share it all along the way with...this is how it all turned out...

I had never even hunted in this unit before...Thanks to all who offered and gave advice...saw tons of bulls...One day I had 20 different 6×6s 50 yards or less it was crazy...Ended up sneeking in and killing this bull at 10 yards on the 12th day of the hunt...He is my biggest bull to date...Hope I don't have to wait another 12 years to do it again!

I had 14 days to hunt for my coues hunt...from what I saw the rutting was nonexistent...bucks were still hanging out together...saw 20-30 deer a day...averaged 6-8 bucks...Ended up passing the buck I put in for this hunt for at 125 yards...he is a great buck...most likely 7-8 years old probably past his prime...but I don't know...I didnt want to shoot him...anyhow ended up killing this buck on the second to last day at 750 yards...My longest one shot kill to date!

Then to start the year off I killed my first javelina with my colt .45...We hunt this herd of pigs every year and for the last few years we've been hard on the sows...so I told my dad I wasn't going to shoot one unless I was 100% sure it was a boar...it was pretty fun to seek in and get that done...

And while we were glassing for javelina I glassed up a fox about 300 yards away...started queeking at him with my mouth and he came on a string and less than a minute later I shot him at 20 feet with the colt .45...fun stuff!

  9. I would have taken that as a complement, when she said there were no big bulls except bones great bull, she was just saying bones was the only big bull there was, thus calling bones bull a big bull. who cares if it was shot within 500 yards of the young road. What does it matter, there were 20 bulls right there were he shot his bull every morning. Heck we ran down that section of road a couple of mornings and almost ended up killing a 380 within 300 yards of the road.

What section of road is that? I may need to drive down it in a few days...I am not opposed to shooting a 370 bull on the road...
