We figured out how to harvest and juice the Prickly Pear - We use grabber tongs to pick them , chop them up a bit in a big pot then use a "new" mop squeezer & bucket to squeeze and collecet a few gallons. Strain the juice with a collander first to remove the seeds and chunks of husks that make it through the mop squeezer. Then we used a fry pan splatter screen to do a final filter/strain.... We picked and juiced 3 gallons in about 4 hour's. This juice makes great jelly, marinate or it can be mixed with other juices. Prickly Pear is known as the Nopal Cactus the fruits are called Nopalea. Nopalea juice sells on the internet $40 for a small 20 ounce bottle! I tried it as a marinate on a mule deer backstrap. It was xcelent! The juice can also be used for drink mix - Prickly Pear Margaritas! It can also be fermented and distilled to make Pink Lightening Cactus Whikey!

Hey I just called the AZGFD lion hotline 877-438-0447 and units 31 & 32 are closed for the multiple bag limit (night hunts)! The quota was 20 lions.... Anyone heard anything about lions harvested in these units since these new hunts started?

I think we did a fine job of abusing another complainer , he sowed what he reaped! He asked us to look out for some supposedly bad person that had offended him , like he wanted us to punish the guy for him.... WA WA WA call the friggin WAMBULANCE... Gina or whatever his name needs to rely on his Cop friends instead of annoying people that are trying to have a good time.....

I have been out calling twice for lions at night - Is There anyone else that has tried this other than the guy written up in the wildlife callers blog?

Thanx for the advice - I have been setting up slightly above open sandy wash's and working the light in a similar fashion , calling in lots of everything but lions. I guess I will just have to put my time in! As I understand the new regulations rifles can be used at night for lions! On that note Bill how far do you think an ethical 12gauge #4 buck shot would be for a big Puma? I wonder what unit the posted night killed lion was in , the post was by Mark of Wildlifecallers Blog and I don't think he made the kill or was even there. I am curious to know more about how those guys call at night!
