Casey, I have been hunting with a custom built AR 243wssm for the last 5 years and wanted to build something that was close in design. My new gun is only 1 pound less and 1 inch shorter. Plus the advantage to this chassis is how the action is secured. Besides the 2 action bolts in the bottom, this also has 4 brass threaded inserts that bolt against the action making it very strong. It also uses a round recoil lug instead of just the bottom lug like normal action. This also makes it stronger. Lance also covered the other reasons for this type of set up. A lot of competition shooters are switching to an Eliseo chassis. My gunsmith is Dan Pedersen. He owns Classic barrel and Gunworks in Prescott, plus he is also an instructor at the Yavapai college where he teaches gunsmithing. I haven't had a chance to shoot it since I forgot my scope mounting tools at home when I headed up north. Gonna try to get out tomorrow and start breaking it in. David

After running into several issues during my build, it is finally finished. I found out late into the build that my custom action wouldn't fit into my chassis without a lot of machining inside the chassis. I chose to switch to a Xtreme Machining action and it was a perfect fit. I had the action chambered to fit 140 Vld's out to 2.960 coal. My smith did a little work to the action so the bullets would chamber without any hang-ups. He also profiled the chassis to match the action port. It weighed in at 11 pounds with scope. Of course I used one of our LOC JAWS to mount it to my tripod. David When I was at my gunsmith's shop, I had the opportunity to watch him cut rifle a barrel. He is only one of a handful left in the country cut rifling barrels. He uses a Pratt and Whitney machine that was built in 1899. He told me that back in the mid 1890's there were 100 of these machines running in a room at Springfield Armory.

After staring at the picture for a while, I think the tracks were probably connected to a ford, mabe even an f150. The back tread looked a little deeper, so I'm guessing there is a type of camper on the back. Those other prints are a cat for sure. My buddy might be up there this weekend with his dogs if you want him to check it out. David

Here is another buck with potential. He is tall, but needs a little more mass. I got him to walk almost 100 yards to me while I took video standing next to my vehicle. I have seen a couple bigger than these, but they were camera shy. David

I have seen this buck several times over the last couple months and finally had a chance to get some video and pics of him. If he makes it through the season, I think he would be a pretty good buck next year. You are welcome to take a guess at the score. David

It's amazing how big mule deer get on the strip. Great pair of toads. David

With the elk season getting closer, I thought I would post a video of bull I found a couple years ago. If you listen closely, you can hear the estrus calls of the cows. These are the sounds you want to mimic on your upcoming hunt. I snuck in on this bull without making one call. This was the first time I was able to get video of a bull mating with cows. This unit is not known to have lots of big bulls, so I was surprised when I found him. Good luck this season. David

DCA is having another bow raffle. This is a great chance to win a new loaded PSE Bow Madness. With only 150 tickets being sold, these will go fast. A CWT member won the bow last time and only bought 1 ticket. Good luck to everyone. David

Mike, I wish he was in my unit. He made through that season I got the video, but I didn't have time to look for him last year. I have two bulls I'm still trying to find for my hunt this year. David

I have always had great results using the Magnus Stingers. This year I'm gonna be using there new broadhead called the Black Hornet. I prefer a cut on contact head, plus there blades are also sharpened on the backside. Just in case you don't have a pass through, the blade will be cutting when the animal is running. They are super sharp and I have left a good blood trail from my target to my hose when I pull an arrow out of the target and the back of the blade sliced all of my fingers. Swarovski spotting scope and my Iphone. I usually use an Ipod with and Outdoorsmans attachment for my scope, but I lost it last weekend in 5a. Hit me up if you find it. I was about 500 yards away. David

This is a long shot, but I lost my Ipod with an Outdoorsmans spotting scope attachment last weekend in 5a. It is in a black zip up case. David
