    WTB Spotting Scope

I have this nikon and carry more than my Swaro now. I very seldom have to go past the 30 power mark. I think cabelas has some of there nikon spotting scopes marked down right now. You might want to give them a call and find out what they have available. David http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/product.ph...mp;product=8321

    PSE Mach 8 for sale

I used to have one of these and it was fast, and boy did it carry some kinetic energy down field. A fella at Sportsman Warehouse dried fired it, other wise I would still be shooting it today. David
  5. I bought 40 bear tickets, so save your money on that one. I will be at the antelope banquet to hear them call out my name. David

    Bear, MD, Elk

Is that a cub in the lower bear picture? That bear doesn't even look big enough to be a momma. Head down to walmart and pic up a couple wildview cameras for 50 a piece. Throw in some c batteries and you are good to go. I have had good luck out of these. My buddy has had nothing but trouble out of the bushnells. David

    Do you recognize this bull?

Snakekiller, If you can get past all of the residents, people taking photos and video, and the animal rights people, then you are welcome to put an arrow in him. He loves to show his mug before the season starts, but gets smart real quick when the hunters arrive. Most everybody and there brother know about this bull and where he lives during the summer, so its no secret. David
  11. While out searching for sheds with my family along with Ron G. and his family we came across this camera on some water. Does anybody on this site own it? Just ignore the pictures we left for you. David

    found a camera in 5a

Ron found one nice shed, and his dog found a spike and some bones. I think my buddy has a pic of that bull about a mile away from where you camera is located. My property is in unit 8 also. All three of us will have to get together and do some walkin for sheds. I set my camera back in the corner of the area where the elk are entering. David

    Do you recognize this bull?

I don't think he ever left the security of the mansions last year. He doesn't seem to look as thick this year as last. All of the big bulls I was watching last year made it through the season. One 6x6 in particular I was watching has already hit the 350 mark. He maxed out at about 360 last year and looks even wider this year. There are going to be some toads this year for sure. David

    Do you recognize this bull?

I have a pretty good idea of which one it is, but I don't see his "special point". I may be wrong though. I looked at so many bulls last year during my scouting that they all seem to look alike. David

    Leave it up to me.......

I found three sheds at a tank just into the edge of the water about three years ago in 6a. It was a tank that no longer had a road going to it, and is very hard to find. I am going to check it out again this year and put a camera on it also. Show us the prize Jimmy. David
  16. Wrap your solar panel wire with some black electric tape. I will help keep the squirels from eating through it. They really like to chew on the wiring. Make sure you set it up to get the maximum amount of light. My batteries started lasting much longer once I got the panels set up on them. David
  17. I like to pull names from older movies I enjoy watching. I currently have a beagle named Sir "Scout" Runabout that I got from To Kill A Mockingbird. My brittany is named Cool Hand "Luke". My next dog will get his or her name from a Clint Eastwood movie. I hope you have long legs, because that dog is going to run you all over gods creation. David

Where would you buy a cabin...

The biggest problem going west of Flag is the water situation. It is so deep that drilling is out of site. Most people in Parks truck there water in. You would need to find something already built in Williams that has there water well done. I looked around Flag three years ago and the prices were out of site. Now they are starting to come down a bit. Munds park is a nice area, but the lots are small. There are some small housing areas south on Lake Mary road also. David

    Nikon's new high end binos

I had the opportunity to learn little bit about these new binos that should be hitting the stores soon. I was told by a Nikon source that the new EDG binos are 6% brighter than the Swaro EL's. Now I haven't had a chance to look through them yet since Nikon has only sent out ten pairs to different outdoor writers to do there own testing and reviews. I hope to get a pair as soon as they become available. If you are thinking about buying a new pair of binos soon, you might want to wait and take a look at these. Nikon's new high end binos

Jimmy, I am going to put Nikon to the test real soon on the no-fault warranty. I bought a pair for my son that keeps loosing the eye cup. My plan is to run over them with my truck and then send em back. I will post a picture of the binos before I send them in. If they can't fix them, for ten dollars and shipping Nikon will send me a new pair. If you are the original owner of the Swaros and filled out the warranty card, I can't imagine why they wouldn't warranty them for you. I was kidding about the Vortex. David

    Single Shot Rifles

Doug, Thats what I was planning. I hope to get it done soon so I can use it in the fall. I will post some pictures when I finish it. I do not put in for ham hunts. I love to chase them with my bow in January when the deer are rutting at the same time. David

    Single Shot Rifles

For the last three years I have been carrying an NEF .223,.243. It is very light and I don't mind dropping it or getting it scratched up due to the cost. With some tweeking and time I have been able to get this little sucker to shoot very well. You can even get one with a little smaller stock for JR's. I also just recently picked up a TC contender chambered in .243 rifle and 7mm-08 in the pistol configeration. I am having a muzzlebreak added to the 7mm-08 to make it the legal length for a rifle and will carry it around for a while and see how it does. David Here is a pic of a coyote I popped last year with the NEF .243.

    Boyz of Summer 2008

Doug, Great pics as usual. I see the big non typical and the 5x5 made it through another year. For those of you with the 11m tag, they don't keep slipping through the firing lines every year because they are easy to hunt, but they can be found if you do your homework. I will miss chasing these boys around this summer with my camera. Maybe next year I will get another chance. David

    Nikon's new high end binos

Before you start the "they can't afford it deal", thats not true by any means. I agree that Swaro has been the benchmark for a long time, but there is a new bully on the block. I heard that Jimmy loves those Vortex binos. Yes Casey, it is the 13-30x50ED spotting scope. I know I am not supposed to say this out loud, but I would rather carry it instead of my Swaro ATS80. OK, I have my flame retardant suit on now. David For your reading pleasure. http://www.nrapublications.org/tah/Nikon1042.asp http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=116087
