Video editing - want to learn
bigorange replied to Coach's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
i hate when people play something like van halen over the sounds of nature if you all know what i mean I like a blend of music during scenery shots and natural sounds in action shots...I've seen video before with music over the bugling bulls which almost defeats the purpose to me. I think there's an important balance. Coach mentioned the Utah video and the youth hunt. I think those are both by Pursuit365 and posted by Andygrand. Very good stuff. There was also a video about family hunting a while back that I really enjoyed. Rick, Eric, and Cole at AZ Extreme have some great video style and I've always liked Jay Scott's video too. Maybe some of those folks can weigh in here with some simple tips and tricks or how they got started. -
Elkhunter1 gets it done again...first buck for another hunter!
bigorange posted a topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Got the great text this morning...BBD from elkhunter1 who had taken one of my buddies out with him. Just got back from helping pack out... I'll let Steve post the story and pics but just wanted to post big kudos on here. Steve has helped me on more than one hunt already and helped make my buddy's first deer a great one! Maybe in Dec he can help me get my first archery kill. Ok...one pic so I don't get harassed too much. -
Looking for safe and preferably legal shooting areas near SE Tucson to take the kids...I know about the county range near the fairgrounds, but would prefer to take the kids out on our own the first couple of times. Basically just .22 plinking and maybe some .223 or handgun as well. National Forest and BLM land is legal...but not very close. I know lots of areas on state trust land, but my understanding is target shooting is technically illegal on state trust and I've heard this is being enforced more commonly now. I appreciate any ideas or suggestions...thanks!

None of that stuff is ever nice camo gear though... -
Bummer...hope you can locate the gear.

Sounds great...good luck and looking forward to the story and pics!

My understanding is if it's rez then it's up to the tribe. Some have open season for tribal members and others are more restricted. Often depends on if they're trying to manage wildlife or make money on trophy hunts...

Anyone else eating tag soup??
bigorange replied to ready2hunt's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yep...opening weekend saw lots of does and a spike in a new area to me. Just got home from helping my buddy pack out his first deer, so at least the group didn't get skunked. 1 out of 4 tags in our group this year. Not great. Unfortunately I'm getting used to the taste of tag soup...I still don't like it but it's familiar. -
+1000 couldn't have said it better. Congrats!

Awesome...love the pic.

There will be plenty of leftover javelina tags posted in a couple weeks...first come first serve. You should be able to take care of 2 off your list this coming Spring if things line up just right...

Working...I'll be out this afternoon. Already got a "buck down" text from another member...it's time!

2 for 2...pig and turkey.
-
Not those blue chip trophy pig units! Yeah I'm not sure why I even put in...I guess it adds a little suspense and excitement to things. Easier to apply online than the leftover process though. Gives me a good indicator when they start hitting cards too, since I can't tell just by lookin on CWT.

Pig here...still waiting on my buddy to check our turkey.

Got a hit for pig...waiting on my buddy to check his card for our turkey tags.

There are units that consistently have a lot of leftover tags...and even OTC tags for metro unit archery hunts. In general not a difficult tag to draw in most units. Fun hunting though...especially with a bow!

Who's ready for Friday Oct. 25th?
bigorange replied to flatline's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
27 hours give or take until I head for camp...got that nervous/anxious/excited feeling that never goes away the day before a hunting trip. If it ever does, I don't know what I'll do. Scond guessing my plan A due to crowds after talking to another member here, but also have plans B-D to fall back. Just don't want to move camp around. Once we find an open camp we'll be good. Talking myself into being nervous again! -
+1 on the book and the welcome. I've lost track how many times I've read that book!

Awesome...especially with a bow!
