    Early Rut ?

Distant bugles all night long at Fool Hollow Lake. Wish the kids could have heard it but they were already asleep. Less than a week to go!

    Free Havalon knives from Eastmans...

I can see how it might read that wy. The paper renewal offer I received is clear that it is 1yr of the journal plus shipping for the knife. And specifies both renewal and new subscription. I think this I a typcal Eastmans offer but in the past I've always seem various Primos calls as the freebie. And yes it's $25 for the subscription plus $10 shipping for the knife. Still cheaper than retail for the knife and get the magazine to boot.

    SB1070

Not sure, but I am white and I have had to show identification every time I have been pulled over by a cop, pulled over by G$F, every time I have gone in to vote..........I don't undertand the problem. Maybe I should start throwing a fit every time somebody asks me for some ID.....puzzling.......... I always claim I was profiled when that happens...fat, white redneck driving a pickup. Usually gets BP to leave me alone. Not so great with G&F or police.

    last minute advice?

+1 cut them off and then chase them if you have to. Be ready to chase them 3 miles like averagejoe if necessary. And above all have fun!

    Sharing the Wealth

I just shared the wealth and celebrated the DNC by renewing my NRA membership! And a BIG +1 to ready2hunt...I too believe it's my Christian duty to share and help those less fortunate (and to pay taxes) but I also believe the sharing and helping others should be on my own terms through my local church or whatever organization who is truly determining the level of need and appropriately rendering aid. Just my 2 cents...keep the change.
  12. Looking for info on processors in the Alpine/Springerville area. I searched the forum and only found this entertaining thread, but not sure if any of the processors with phone numbers are in this area or further east...probably closer to Show Low or Heber based on the subject. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/34604-use-of-a-freezer-in-sept-show-lowheber-area/ Google search shows Rusty's and Singletree in Springerville. Anyone used either of these processors and have any recommendations? Thanks and good luck to all with tags this year...hoping for a good rut hunt this year and a couple of cows on the ground in our camp!

Are there still hats for sale

I don't see them either...I was looking for the oval stickers and couldn't find them the other day. I emailed Amanda and she got me taken care of...she said some things just haven't made it into the new store page yet. amanda@coueswhitetail.com

    Wolfpack Outfitters SC Bull

Great bull and agree with your comment about the hunt and the memories...it's all about the experience with good friends and family making memories. But that's a nice bull as icing on the cake!

    Finally broke the 100" mark.

Great buck and story! CONGRATS on sticking with it and getting it done. That dude was tough!

    Archery Lion!

Awesome! CONGRATS! Agree on the Powerball ticket...you're on a good streak of luck.
  19. Agree 100% I always feel bad when I can't find a bird and I usually spend a lot of time looking for them to no avail. Amazing how easily those things disappear in the desert when they go down. Best thing I've taken along lately was my 5 yr old who loved collecting my empties as well as all kinds of other stuff she found that others had left behind. Quickest way for areas to get shut down and keep giving hunters a bad name is to leave a mess behind.

    Everyone Please Read This!

+1 if you drive by my camp and there's a deer hanging stop on by and lets talk. Heck even if there's no deer just stop and say hello.

WTB boy scout merit badge booklets

+1 on Jerry's comments. I too am an Eagle Scout and now getting back into scouting as an adult leader with my son who is a Wolf Cub this year. Another great site is meritbadge.org I remember having a copy of this book http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Boy_Scout_Requirements_book when I was in scouts as a boy and it was very handy. Had all the requirement for all merit badges at a glance. Not a replacement for the individual badge pamphlets, but nice to have the requirements all in one place. (although since then this cool thing called the internet came along and sites like meritbadge.org have everything in one place.)
  22. I guess I got pretty lucky...took my kids (5 and 7) out with a neighbor to a tank maybe 10 min from our house. (thanks to the az law change allowing dove hunting on state land inside city limits!) Couple of dirtbikers around and another couple of hunters at a nearby tank. Otherwise had it all to ourselves and had a nice hunt. Should have limited if I hadn't missed so much...as always doves humbled me! Only negative is more and more people seem to think the area is a dump.
  23. Wow....awesome first buck! Buck of a lifetime is right. All the hard work paid off. CONGRATS!

    Early Rut ?

Assuming you're in 27 near Alpine, I thought exactly the same. Up scouting 2 weeks ago and things already seemed to be starting...early. Well hopefully they'll still be cranking on opening weekend!

The MOST wonderful time of the year

Well...my Vols won last night, I got out for a nice stalk today on 2 mulie bucks and found a shed while I was at it (will try to post a pic in the sheds thread later...not sure I can post pics from iPad or not...?) taking the kids to the UofA game tonight, and probably take them out for doves at least once before this long weekend is over. Like I said...my favorite time of the year!
