We had that done about 10 years ago. It was several hundred $$ and yielded no definitive answer. Sorry for your loss.

I'm looking for a simple way to attach a 6x elk shed to the wall...sounds like 20# fishing line might do the trick but any other ideas? Not looking for a decorative solution, just a way to get it off the table and it's too big for any of our shelves. Might be outside on the porch or inside in the office...not sure yet. BTW this is my first large elk shed...found during my archery cow hunt this year right after we busted a herd with a 6x6. Maybe it was his. Not in great shape since the rodents got to it, but still special since it's my first. Sorry I don't have a pic to post right now. Will get one taken (maybe after I get it on the wall) and update this thread. Actually found 3 sheds on that hunt...a broken 4x that another hunter found and told me where he left it since he didn't want to keep it. Also a spike that was in the middle of the road right next to a tank that I'm sure a lot of trucks and ATVs had run over and never noticed. Thanks!

Awesome...I had a cow tag too and it's a lot harder than I expected! Seems like every time I hunt bulls I get busted by cows but this hunt I couldn't find cows to save my life. Every bull we found bugling was solo. But it was a blast hunting during the rut and I too learned a lot even though I didn't tag out. Congrats on your cow! Good eating...

Congrats! I had a cow tag this year and am dining on tag soup. Hard hunt is an understatement. I really like that creative use of the cane. Also great to see so much help come forward from the forum members...no surprise, but still great to see.

FS office is downtown Tucson in the federal building...300 W Congress on the 6th floor. Otherwise REI, Summit Hut, or Tucson Map and Flag at 1st and Ft Lowell. You want the Coronado NF map, Sierra Vista and Nogales districts. Get the color map as well as the black/white road map. Both are very handy. A buddy of mine hunted 34a last year and camped off the Casa Blanca Rd. I went down for the day and there were a couple of other camps there too. Good luck and have fun!

I hear you...I grew up hunting in TN where 40 was a long shot from a treestand. I set my first pin at 30...just don't do like I did on my first shot and forget to hold a little low at 25!

Hearing complaints in 27 that in lots of areas the bugling stops by about 8 and doesn't start again before dark. Seems to vary by location.

There was apparently a homeless guy sleeping in his truck on the 403 road in 27 during the first week of the archery hunt. I noticed the truck but just thought someone had a nice spot an was coming back. Some other hunters told me they saw him and talked to him...asked what he needed. Gas and food so they got it for him. Haven't seen the truck since. He also had some good info on elk movements in the area.
