I hear you Steve. I'm eating a big pot of tag soup this year too. Agree that communication is the key and some of the hardest negotiation I've ever had to do. Bradley

Awesome buck and a great story! Congrats!

Nice looking buck...thanks for sharing. Good luck getting it done. Stick with it and it will work out for you.

Great buck even if it's not exactl what you were looking for. Sounds like a great hunt too. Congrats! -

Awesome++ Congrats! I love big desert mulies... -
I feel your pain. A couple of blown stalks is all I have to show for 2011. Going to give it one more try tomorrow, but not looking promising the past week or so. Picked up my 2012 tag today, so ready for another go at it.

Awesome deer. Congrats!

Hunting will definitely give you a lesson in humility, and patience, and persistence, and a lot of other lessons like you said. Had a similar experience with a nice 4x4 bedded perfectly looking upwind..snuck in behind him from downwind and never could spot him through the ocotillos and brush. Got to about 45 yards and never saw him until he bolted. Saw deer all day that day and 4 or 5 bucks. After one of my best days hunting, I went back to the same place yesterday and saw no deer all day until 2 does decided to come out right at sunset. Definitely humbling.

Nice...had one almost that big at about 50 yards this weekend and couldn't get it done. My favorite time of the year...
-
Saw several bucks today including one nice 4x4. Smaller ones (3x3 and spike/forky) were with does, but the bigger 4x4 was bedded by himself. Got pretty close to him but couldn't close the deal before he spooked. It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Have a friend who just bought a Brute and really likes it.

Scouting has been slow. Hoping to get out at least once this weekend depending on the home calendar. Probably in 34B or 36A.

Measure him on the ground and let us know. Then post a picture.

Nice story and nice deer! Congrats to all the hunters. Our camp went 0-4 this year... -
Seems to get going pretty good the last week of Dec and first week of Jan. Christmas Eve thru the 5th or 6th last year.
-
+1...my bow is ready too. I'll be in 34B and 36A most likely. And agree...good luck to everyone, archers included!

Lately I've been eating big pots of tag soup. Nobody else in camp seems to want any of it though! Seriously though, I like anything that's pre-made from home and all you have to do is heat it up in camp. I enjoy cooking in camp, especially cast iron dutch oven cooking...but after a long day hunting I'd much rather heat something up pretty quick and easy. I have a couple of favorites...a beans, corn, tomatoes, and rice dish my wife makes that does well in a ziploc until time to heat it up. The other is chili made at home and ziploc'd. Serve over fritos or tortilla chips. I also like beef/venison and green chile burritos made at home and frozen. Throw one in the pack and it's usually thawed in time for lunch or snack.

Congrats on the buck. Glad everyone's advice paid off. Have you posted photos and story of the hunt?

Congrats...any coues is a trophy!

Nice! I'm taking my Viper 15x50s to 34A tomorrow to help a friend with his tag...hopefully we'll have similar luck!
-
Nice buck...especially on a leftover tag!
-
Got my usual...36abc archery to overlap archery deer. Just in case we see piggies while glassing for deer. Only 660 leftovers!
-
Awesome buck! Agree with Lark...bells palsy is rough. I've known a couple of folks with it. Can't imagine trying to glass with it. Congrats!
