I have tikka 25-06 that I love. Very light so your shoulder feels it for sure. The gun is very capable of shooting long distance(500-600). I know this from shooting off a lead sled, however I'm not that good and won't risk wonding a deer that far. I shoot the factory ammo and havnt looked up kenetic energy at those distances. The caliber is very capable, just make sure you still have knock down power out that far.

As pissed as everyone gets about people stealing game cams including myself, I can't imagine my truck especially after all the work that was just done! Sorry to hear that and my eyes are open.

It will all come down to the game manager in the unit you are hunting. It's a lot like the DUI law. All the cop needs is suspicion of Inparment even if you blow under legal limit. Same thing will happen with a GM over bait I'm guessing.
