Who's the oldest hunter you know?

My Dad is 85 in this picture from our 2009 Elk Hunt. Hopefully we will get drawn this year and I can post a picture when he is 87.
  5. My S&W 686 4" (actually it belongs to my wife) or my Ruger Blackhawk 41 Mag. But as some people pointed out it doesn't reload fast. Sometimes the 1911.

    A bunch of bad news

GFCI is how my freezer died. Guys painting the house blew the GFCI and didn't tell my wife. I was out of town for work. Lost 1/2 a deer and a bushell of hatch Green Chile! Found different outlets in the garage not on the GFCI circuit. Never make that mistake again.

Hunting boots: what's good and what isn't?

The perfekt hikers and Perfekt Hunters are made in Germany. A lot of their other boots are made elsewhere and not as good quality.

Hunting boots: what's good and what isn't?

I am very happy with the Meindl Perfekt Hikers. Pricey but very comfortable. I have Plantar Fasciitis and these boots kept me in the hunt all season.

    Ammo Question

Storage is the key. Cool and dry. Shot some ammo for my Dad's 351 winchester that was over 40 years old and it shot fine. He kept it in his closet. Tried to shoot some 308 ammo I had reloaded a5 years ago and it didn't work wo well. It was stored in his shop with no climate control.

    BACKPACKING BOOTS OPINIONS NEEDED

I know this post is old but it really helped me find my new boots. I went with the Meindl Perfekt Hiker. They are the most comfortable I have worn and really help keep my Plantar Fasciitis from hindering my hunt. Thank you all for the great information.

    Pranks

Several years ago my buddies and I went on our annual fishin trip to Big Lake. We spend the evening drinking beer and telling stories. One buddy was getting quite obnoxious and started getting on our nerves. I got to relieve myself and grabbed his Copenhagen when I walked by him. I dumped the Cope in my can and filled his with Worm Dirt. I put it back on the stump next to him when I came back. He kept making funny faces every time he took a dip but kept on dippin. The next morning he took a dip and his eyes bugged. When he looked in the can and found a worm he threw up! Great times.

    Hunting mistakes and misses

I was Muzzleloader hunting Elk in NM. I spent the morning still hunting the area in crnchy snow. Headed back to camp on the dirt road since the snow was hard packed and quiet. About 100 yards from camp I heard movement. Looked up and saw a 5x6 trotting in front of me. I thought it was perfect. Wouldn't have to work at all getting him back to camp. I brought the stinkpole up and pulled the trigger when he stopped. All I heard was SNAP! Fizzle! The elk heard it too and took off running. Never saw him again. It took 5 caps to get the rifle to shoot. Note to self. ALWAYS snap a cap before loading up the gun!
