    An Awesome Day!

Wow Jim that is a great day. If this is the Jim I think it is then they are lucky you didn't bust em up. Sounds so exciting. I spotted one today and drove around and put a stalk on but was on the wrong side of it and they blew outta there. Great fun

    new hunters first kill

I haven't used this site much but when i have i like it a lot. anyway i ventured out to unit 6b with my buddy and mentor in the archery world for my second pig hunt, well first official last years i don't know what i was doing. so we get out there wednesday and set up camp and start glassing and boom he spots pigs a few miles away so we take off on the rhino and go after them. we get to a ridge where he says is close to them and go in the wash and under them but run into another group of pigs so we set a plan and he sets me up and goes off to the side and waits. well needless to say he says let em come in and i didn't so he hears the arrows flying and get ups and draws after my second shot and he just whacks one. we wait and see about 10 more go up the other side of the wash. so the trip goes on like that with him spotting the pigs and me missing and missing and missing. so i've finally hit one that i stalked up to by myself and didn't realize i hit it,because my broadhead was busted from a rock and the nock was gone and we had good blood for about 100 yards i shot my second time and missed and spooked him off. so now i'm down a little but ready to give the last day my all. he spots one on the same close ridge and i sneak up and with some miscommunication i spooked off the single pig. so its getting closer to time to pack it up and we decide to go back to the camp tear down and i was gonna go back up and glass till dark. well just so happens that we are heading back and see three piggies feeding on a close flat so we haul on over there and get a guy on the ridge with eyes on em. we sneak in and spook a rabbit and this big boar chased it right outta dodge and almost caught the poor fella. so we couldn't really see and thought we spooked them off but no way they were back to feeding. so we snuck up and got in a good place and he ranged the close one at 32 yards and told me get ready for when he gets in that small window to shoot so i do and i wait. well he comes in, I draw, he turns broad side and i let er rip. the arrow hits and bounces and hits the pig behind it so we thought i missed and the one that it bounced and hitr ran around woofing in circles, then we saw the front one having a hard time walking and falling over and he says get another arrow ready. we play cat and mouse with this wounded pig and finally i get another shot so i hit it through the lung and out the neck. i am thinking ok it is dead but no way, it kept going from bush to bush and i got up on it and let another arrow fly right in the boiler room. chomp chomp chomp was the noise it made. so after examining the javelina we saw that i cut his back right foot off and went through and broke the other leg up higher too. what a crazy ending to this hunt!!!! my first kill so far on any big game and i am super stoked!! this is where it's at in life!!!!!
  5. ok here it is. i am fairly new to hunting and very new to the 6b area that i am going to archery javelina hunt. I am looking for some of you older wiser hunters to help with a little info on where i can start looking, what to look for and so forth. I tried last year going to unit 22 but had a very bad experience down there and of course i didnt see any wildlife while i was there. I know most hunters don't like giving any advice or secrets out but its really just a javelina to most but will be an awesome experience for me. thank you all.

    Blind Question

i don't know a whole lot about hunting but i am very persistent with it and i hunted a ground blind for 8 straight days. Day and night with only 2 hour lunch breaks each day. now i had great pictures of big stud bucks so i waited it out and i finally got a shot on third morning at a forky buck which was fine and i missed then kept at it for a few more days and finally had a shot at the stud i wanted and i missed that shot too.... so i am saying persistence will pay off i think but my buddies also said i was crazy for sitting so long.you have to be confident if you have good evidence they are there i have been told. but what do i know i'm a first year hunter :-)

  9. hi i am new to this forum i have a lot of questions and i recently hunted unit 9 for deer. i live in flagstaff and want to know about the hunting opportunities up here in this area. i do not have many skills as far as tracking and hunting knowledge. i just started last august, and i just love it :-) anyway i know people don't usually like to give up information, but i figured i would give this a shot and see what i get back. thanks
