I would take a picture of the dog, mount it on a plaque with the antlers and write a nice little story of how it happened!! It would be a great conversation piece for you and your buddies while having a few beers!! life is to short to even worry about him chewing on those antlers its just what dogs do and you have the memories of the hunt in your head anyway!! Nice buck nonetheless.

Great video congrats to the hunter on a fine bull.

I was in unit 8 for opening of archery deer had some idiot drive right thru my camp while I was out hunting. came back to camp in the evening to find tire tracks 2 feet from my truck it was so wet & muddy that weekend that he made 2 huge ruts about a foot deep and 20 yards long thru the grass. There wasn't even a road my truck was parked at the end of the camp site. I have no idea what this idiot was doing I inspected all my gear & tent to see if they tried to steal anything all was ok. The stupid part was my camp was about 60 yards off the main road.

I would call to locate them than quite calling & try to sneak in on them. Try to pattern them & ambush them as they head to their bedding area. Keep at it & good luck wish I had a tag this year.

That bull is a stud he would be great no matter how many elk you have killed. Congrats on a fine animal.

Lots of elk in blythe!! Put in for that unit its a tough one to draw. LMAO

Got my vultures in the mail from Cabelas today can't wait to test em out.
-
I just ordered a pair from Cabelas. There are a few reviews on them & they are positive. For the price you can't beat them. I know they aren't swaros, and I couldn't afford them anyway. Lots of guys will say save your money until you can buy swaros, but if your like me something unexpected always comes up that needs to be paid for so I would never be able to afford swaros anyway. I looked thru the vultures at Cabelas in Boise & compared them with the Kaibabs for me the vultures felt better and were easier to focus. Every guys eyes are different buy what you can afford and enjoy them that's my plan. good luck in your decision

Great job!! Sounds like you had a good hunt.

Hey guys I just bought some Easton full metal jackets at bass Pro that are pre fletched, and want to put some arrow wraps on them to give them better visibility. Will it change the arrow performance if I install the wraps right in front of the existing fletching? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

out2hunt what year did you take that buck in 16a? Nice buck for that unit they are far & few between.
-
You definitely don't have to worry about a honeyhole!! I have hunted this unit a lot the deer are in there, but it is a hard hunt!! Get a good map & find the water sources. Down by Alamo Lake there are deer, but don't get to high of expectations on killing a trophy!!!! If you want to avoid the crowded areas stay away from the Hualapies & Chicken Springs road, but there is a reason those areas are crowded that is where most of the deer are.

I saw some nice bucks around clints well last year during the the archery elk hunt.

which pack is the best all around for hunting?
goinhuntn replied to Coues Kid's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Check out Hornhunter full curl!! I have the complete system & it is an awesome pack!!! -
I got one from Costco they are real comfortable & price not to bad. Only downside to the Costco pad is they don't rollup & they are big & bulky, but they are light. I either throw it in the backseat of my truck or in the enclosed trailer.

What is your favorite bow brand? - archery market research
goinhuntn replied to JMP's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
You can't go wrong with any of the bows today they are all good!! I shot Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech, Diamond & Pse. The hoyt Faktor felt the best to me so I bought it doesn't mean the others are less impressive its just what felt best for me! -
I know there is a post about the Kodiak flexbow, but wanted opinions on the Kodiak flexbow 10x14 vs the Kodiak cabin tent 12x9. Getting ready to buy a new tent & can't decide between the 2 price is about the same. I like the flexbow cuz one person can put it up, but I like the awning with the optional enclosure for a cooking area on the cabin tent. Also I could eliminate taking & setting up an easy up for cooking, but not sure if one person could set up the cabin tent. any opinions out there.

Another vote for flatline!!!!

Too bad about burning 8 points, but look on the bright side you will be hunting, learning more about the area and learning more about the patterns of the elk that time of year. Also if shoot a cow you have some awesome meat for a while. Make the best of it and have fun camping and hunting with friends & family!!! Life is too short enjoy it!!!!! Good luck.

Does anyone have these or tried them out? I know they are new & wondering how they compare to the kaibabs.
