My dad shot a decent 6 x 6 in 2017 about 2 miles from camp at 9am. We were able to get his ranger to within a half mile from it. It took 5 trips for the 2 of us to get the quarters, loose meat & head to the ranger. We got back to camp & cleaned it up & hung it was around 8pm. It’s a lot of work, but was worth every minute. By the way my dad was 76 in 2017. Get yourself in shape, elk are big animals!!!! As far as cold weather, get a Kodiak tent with a buddy heater & a good sleeping system & campout!! Motels & elk hunting just don’t give you the awesome experience IMO!! Good luck, have & BE SAFE!!

Unit 8 late rifle for me 2nd choice, early archery was first choice. Had 8 NR points going into draw. Satisfied with either hunt, it will fun for sure!!

I’m pro cop & they have a very tough job. That cop was wrong 100% IMO that guy was compliant & wasn’t doing anything. I’m all for LEOs doing there job, but some of them are on a power trip & abuse there power. That cop should be in jail!!

Try the side roads off Chicken Springd Rd. Between Alamo road & the ranch before you go up the hill. Always found pigs around there.

Just tried to put in & an error has occurred messag came up. Every year fish & game has issues with their website. Other states do not seem to have the issues with their websites as AZ does!!!!!!!!

That’s great news tanks are full! Too bad the bucks are coming out the woodwork now that the archery season closed on the 15th. Hopefully they will be around in august when it opens backup.

AZ should start mandatory harvest reports like other states. You don’t send it in you don’t get to hunt the following year. People may lie on them, but if they care they will fill them out truthfully. I believe technology has caused a decline in animals as others have said and only going to get worse as technology advances. I’m am guilty of it, I have rangefinder, binos, scopes, compound bow etc. One thing I refuse to use though are trail cameras. I don’t have a problem with them or anyone using them there just not for me. Loss of habitat is also a factor!

I would look to other units in the desert for rutting bucks!!

I have a jumping jack trailer & the tent portion is similar to Kodiak tent, we use a buddy heater in the morning & just before we go to bed. It warms up real quick & holds heat pretty good.

He is a handsome little guy. dang good dogs!! I am on my 5th one love heelers!!

If they sold them online they would probably sell out in the first couple days!! A trip to game & fish for me is out of the question as I'm working out of state Monday thru friday.

Had a late rifle tag for this year & donated it to the Arizona Elk Society because I started a new job & can't get the time off. Super bummed I can't hunt this year!

Well its bitter sweet! I just sent off my late rifle tag to Arizona Elk Society to be donated. I am moving back to Arizona & starting a new job on the 22nd so not gonna be able to get time off for my hunt. I am super pumped about moving back, but bummed I won't be able to use my tag this year. I am ok with it as I know a wounded warrior will get to use it & have awesome time. I would like to thank Tom Wagner & Arizona Elk Society for helping me complete the tag transfer. What a great way to give back to our vets!!!!!!
