I'm here, had a great hunt. My buddy killed his ram on day 6 after busting our butts everyday thru the rain and fog. I will see if I can get permission for a picture or two. Ram is pushing 168 with 15 inch plus bases.

My hunting partner called me last night and informed me that he finally got hit for a sheep tag with only 9 bonus points. While we were talking we began to realize that we don't know the first thing about sheep. Are there any books out there or websites I should be looking at or maybe any seminars to attend. Looks like it's gonna be a fun year.

I drew tag 1 on the second 19a tag along with a friend of mine, so that's two for the second hunt. Another friend of mine drew the first 19a tag, so that's three 19A Turkey tagsin our group lol

If you Could Have Just One...
DBArcher replied to SheepDreams's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
This year I have really become a fan of the 300 win mag, really put the hammer down on my bear and my mule deer. That being said, Im not a fan of the recoil produced by it and im thinking of leaning back into a 308. I don't shoot long range, 500 being an absolute max and the 308 will do it. -
great job

December hunt, new to coues but not to hunting
DBArcher replied to moorehunter86's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
+1 on what casey said, and to echo what was said earlier, watch the groups of does for the occasional big buck to buzz by and check. Good Luck and don't forget the most important part of the hunt, the experience.... Daniel -
Great buck and an even better old ford!!!

that's a great 19a buck, congrats

Holy crap, great bull

Those are some great pics, looks like your gonna have a great hunt

19a doesn't need anymore tags!!! If they take some tags from the current number to accommodate the December tags that would be okay, but you know they will also put in an October hunt. Soon the tag numbers will be crazier than they already are.

good bucks for each species, Gonna be chasing coues during the rifle season in the unit.

Just a little update on the prep for this hunt: Been into the unit twice so far, covered a lot of ground and even more on the boots. Still haven't seen a sheep as of yet. We aren't getting discouraged yet but its a little upsetting to not see any. Going to head up again within the next week or two and hopefully see a sheep!!! Daniel

Opinions on Feathers? Trueflight, AMG, Gateway?
DBArcher replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
In my experience, Fletch Tite Platinum seems to work the best for me. -
Opinions on Feathers? Trueflight, AMG, Gateway?
DBArcher replied to Heat's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I like gateway feathers and true flight, seems like the consistency feather to feather is better with true flight. As far as feather shape its more of a user choice, I haven't noticed a difference between shield or parabolic. Personally I like Shield for the look. As far as size goes it all depends, I have one recurve that shoots great with three 4", another that flies well with four 4" and my longbow loves three 5.5 inch. Just remember when fletching with feathers to take your time, don't rush and they will stick. -
Im down a total of 7 right now, but the only workout I have been doing is hiking the hills.
